They could've reduced it to 7 and it could've been perfectly fine. 5 bullets would kill the amount of plays possible on AWP, forcing you to use even more money on a secondary weapon after spending 4750$ on a green stick.

i mean, they boosted the awp abusing playstyle.Most of the beautiful plays that fallen, kennys, zywoo, s1mple, jw, guardian etc. did wont be possible anymore and holding angles and picking free kills with zero skill needed will be now the optimal way to play awp. All they did is, that they nerfed the high skill high risk high reward playstyle, that wasnt the problem

This nerf didn't mean to eliminate the high-risk high-reward playstyle, it just punishes the inaccurate AWPers who still get more chances after missing shots. For People like Zywoo and S1mple five bullets are enough for their aggressive peek and repeek. They are not playing against noobs that allow them to fire five shots from the same spot.
Before this nerf it was not that "high-risk" if you get too many chances to repeek. Quick scopes are less risky and now got punished.

That nerf is the best thing that could have happened in meta rn, every team tries to play around it's awper, every year since 2018 top 1-3 was occupied primarily by awp players. Now imagine what happens when a guy with a least one hand and half a brain, who is, at worst, mediocre with the awp, can do in solo q environment on ct side?

I'm not saying that awp should be nerfed to the ground to the point of Unusablity, it's just so boring to watch every match dominated by awpers, and especially boring to play a game like this, where you can't do shit if you just being pressed on every corner of the map by awp. well, nades don't work on just awpers. Everybody can get flashed, naded, smoked or mollied regardless of the weapon you're using. Even the AWPer can use their own utility to counter the enemy's utility like mollying window in mirage to ruin the enemy's smoke. You say the opposing team must do teamwork but how would that be fair for them when the awper doesn't have to do the same and simply hold a corner? One side requires skill and communication, the other stares at a wall. You tell me which side requires actual skill

well, hunden is one of the best (if not the best) igls that can develop new talents, and tricked/ mad lions arguably were t2 team.
And its common thing to see awpers destroying everyone on t2, get picked up by t1 team and then suck for a long while.
My point here is if awpers and riflers are equally skilled most of the times awper will put up more frags bc awp is simply easier to use and harder to play against, yet if awper is clearly lacking experience on how to properly play on his level, he wont be able to hit a thing

low iq. by that logic nothing is easy to counter, its not because you can counter something that it makes it useless, a 4750 gun should have more impact than a 2700 or 2900 one, countering it with teamplay, nades etc means reducing its impact, that's the only reason there's alot of awpers that arent the best rating on their team, even tho they wield the most valuable gun.

Only person who have low iq here is you if you can't understand this simple connection. If it's easy to counter Messi then he will not score goals. If it's easy to counter Hamilton he will not win F1 all the time. If it's easy to counter Ovechkin he will not score goals. They still do so it means teams can't counter them easily. You saying "reducing impact" ,so if you just reduce it then it's not that simple to counter it. If it would ,you dont reduce it but shut it down completely. my point was in the original comment that say he had spammed the now half wall a few times first like any normal awper would have for free chip damage, you cant do that anymore and as a result you wont be seeing any of those crazy wallbangs nor smoke spams because its too risky now
This is seven years old. They first significantly nerfed the AWP seven years ago. Because of Kenny S. So this clip is from 3 AWP nerfes ago and was probably evidence for Valve when they decided that they have to nerf it.

It also prevents hero plays where a lone awper just gets kill after kill and wins the round, although theoretically you could still do that. It's just half as likely now.

Nobody is ever able to spend 10 bullets doing this. They either die sooner or kill everyone before that. Only way this could need ten bullets if he spams through smokes in which case he is free to reload more bullets to himself.

If an AWPer tries an aggresive play and it's still alive after 5 shots, then a rifler would've had time to spray down his rifle at least twice, hence the AWPer is still reloading less than the rifler in comparison-
tldr- an awper barely ever reloaded before, welcome to the world of mortals
The only thing it changes is that you need to create a habit to check how many bullets you have in the mag.

Never understood how so many people were ok with the awp (it turns out there are some pros who started complaining about it though so at least that's something) but in general the fans never seemed bothered by it. I guess the "flashy" plays and the fact that some of the most popular csgo pros are awpers contributed to that.
The thing is it's not even the magazine size, it's the movement accuracy and the pullout time. It's so hard to trade an awp, it requires perfect teamwork from the enemy team meanwhile the awper takes a lot less risks and with so much higher rewards.

man 10 bullets was so overkill. What was the point of having a reload at all for awp or are you so bad that you had to shoot 10+ times every round in attempt to kill one or two enemies? Now when you miss a shot, it actually matters and 5 bullets is still enough to theoretically ace the team if you're actually skilled. AWPers shouldn't be getting aces or singlehandedly stopping a 5 man execute every round otherwise the weapon is broken. 4750 does not equate to 2700 x 5 + 1k utility each
