blast major will be boring because of new system

valve hasn't revealed what changes they are going to make for the qualification and they're probably not going to favor big org over good teams because that would hurt them in the long run

Areed, all the top teams still made the major. Only g2 and astralis chocked in rmr. Valve will only change the invite for the rmr, so g2 and astralis would have chocked anyway. In this way better tier 2 teams can qualify because they dont have to face tier 1 teams and risk be eliminated. I have faith valve would not destroy the meritocracy. If not then even majors would become a joke.

will astralis even be invited tho
2022-11-28 07:14

Yea ofc If they're looking at performance across all valve events than Astralis have won 4 of those events
2022-11-28 07:32
How can you possibly know this?
2022-11-27 13:49
boring how? its the exactly same shit except that astralis and the likes wont play in the open qual

esl and blast partner teams will get more points which is obviously unfair

unfair how? big names = invites to closed qual. it's been always like this no names = can still grind the open quals

im partner team im paying money to blast or esl(for some teams both) im getting points when i even finished last in the tournament im getting invite to the closed qualifier. if i would play open q i could lose to fpl mix im occupying spot which i didnt deserve me very fair

broski, a new stage is being added. some teams come from the open qualifiers, some teams are invited directly to this stage. then the winning teams of the closed qual get invited to the rmr. what spots are being taken from the 'deserving' teams? if anything this is better since we won't have shit teams that qualify over objectively better teams just because they hit some lucky shots in a single BO1. not to mention it's always been like this prior to the introduction of RMRs.

how can you sure about partner teams consistenly qualify from open qualifiers? they are only playing against partner teams in their tournaments and imo thats why ''tier 1'' teams lost against ''open qualifier teams'' in rio.they dont know how to play against that type of teams. i think that major system was breathtaking part of the csgo environment and we saw so many underdog stories which is one of the best part of the majors. i assume that we will see less underdogs and more astralis and eg. now there is a possibility that teams like bne wouldnt get the invite which is dogshit
2022-11-27 22:16

im not talking about what happened in rio. im talking specifically about open qualifiers. which are bo1 only. and single bracket. and you need to win ~7 consecutive bo1s to win. shit system if u ask me. it is good that valve finally realised the shitiness and reverted back to a open qual + closed qual system. are they a bit unfair? maybe u could argue so. but in the end nobody is robbed. if the open qual teams are good enough, they can beat the invited teams in the closed qual. it happened before, it will happen again.

> i think that major system was breathtaking part of the csgo environment and we saw so many underdog stories ... bla bla this just shows that u are just clueless. all csgo majors prior to stockholm 2021 had teams that were directly invited by the TOs to the closed qualifiers. and the invitations were solely at TOs discretion. they could invite any team they thought it would possibly bring more viewers. did that stop gambit or lg from winning a major?

He has a point, this is just to have more known teams in majors for moneys sake. It damages competetive integrity a bit but at the same time makes csgo more financially stable for teams which means we will have more top tier teams, and less fluke runs where some top 30 peak at the qualifier but then dont do anything at the major.

+1 points distribution is dogshit
2022-11-27 13:50
First, it's not a ranking. ESL's is more sinister since they claim theirs is a world ranking. Blast just has a points system which they don't try to claim is a ranking. Second, of course they're going to prioritise their events. It's a show so they care more about getting their teams to the World Final. They've already increased the competitiveness of the tournament by giving teams free invites for doing well elsewhere in the circuit.
2022-11-27 16:19
i think most of the points they got was from getting 1st in blast groups + semi finish at lisbon finals , this point distribution is something else from blast hope they change it next year

OG is just really inconsistent, all of their points are from high placement in only the blast events, they got no points from any of the ESL events this year

yea, but I am not trying to be rational here, it would be even more fun if NiP fails despite it not being fair.
2022-11-27 11:37
nip doesnt deserve shit they didnt even MAKE IT to spring finals while OG made it to semi finals. if it would be reversed no one would cry about it but people pretend like only the fall final matters
2022-11-27 12:23
true its too absurd shouldve went to someone like mouz or cloud9 (cloud9 at least won an event this year)

nip and astralis are partnered teams... og outperformed them in every blast group/final nip and astralis even played spring and fall showdown (nip only played spring showdown) to farm extra points but couldn't qualify to 2 season finals
2022-11-27 11:28
Why did astralis deserve it more?
2022-11-27 13:48
"From a team that really deserves it" If you're talking about NIP, they play in the same events as OG do lol

2022-11-27 11:36
Blast won’t change its points system dramatically because thats exactly what they wanted, they dont care about highest cs level possible but if they have 7/8 teams partnered it means that its worth buying their partnered slot. Its all about money money money, not competitiveness
2022-11-27 12:12
Wanted nip to be there just for the aleksi vs g2 angle..guess we'll have to make do with og vs g2

Honestly, I think Furia or Nip deserved the spots more than OG. They did good mostly in groups or some spring final from blast. But it's a blast ranking, so it makes sense. As an example, If we take hltv rankings for a tournament like blast world final, probably furia or nip would've been qualified rather than OG. I can't blame BLAST because it's their rankings, their tournaments so it kinda makes sense. Maybe this would give OG the chance to finally redeem themselves.
2022-11-27 21:55
Blast partnership system is a joke by itself
2022-11-27 22:01
maybe the teams that "deserved" it should've performed better at events
2022-11-27 22:22
C9, MOUZ, FURIA, Fnatic and even SPIRIT would deserve it more than OG. Sad to see that such a bad team get to go to a prestigious event 🙃
