broky is first non-superstar MVP (losing team)

I think so unless somebody also lost it.

You're right about Twistzz (ESL One: New York 2018 - the wolf of wall street ACE game), but not NAF, NAF has 5 MVPs: BLAST LA 2019, iBUYPOWER IV, SuperNova Malta, cs_summit 2, and Starladder Shanghai 2017. Liquid or Renegades (his teams) won all of these events. As for the FaNg MVP: that is the smallest margin a 2nd place MVP has had in event rating (0.03).

Close but I wouldn't say so yet. Need to see more success for them before I would say that, also need to see their long term impact, though 1 more year of current performance then yes

both outperforming niko for 10+ months if we're being honest

Sh1ro yes but like I said give him another year or 6 months to continue with his form, whilst NiKo may not be as good this year he is still doing great stats wise and Sh1ro hasn't shown to carry hard enough to win his team trohpies yet. Ax1Le is good but stats this year are almost identical to NiKo's - although he did carry C9 to win Dallas (alongisde Nafany imo). It may sound like a meme but it NiKo's team was a bit more competitive this year people wouldn't think so bad about him. He's still really damn good
2022-11-27 22:46
Good one Niko

Yea NiKo, the best rifler of all time and the only one to have been able to Solo carry teams to finals and deep runs in events, he may occasionally choke in finals but you can't doubt he his one of the best the game has and WILL ever see

good list, device would be here aswell if he wouldnt break. He is not hardcarry but very consistent for years.

Forgot about Devve, and he probably would fit the list. It's just that Astralis always felt like it the team that made them win and not down to a superstar solo carrying, and whilst he was insane and very consistent he was never alone, not like thats his fault or a bad thing. Just that S1mple, ZywOo and NiKo have shown to hard carry their teams when the team was trash and for S1 and Zy they got MVP's whilst losing events.
2022-11-27 22:41
cold and device have great rating when their teams dominating. they havent prove themself out of that period

I'd actually still argue s1mple is. Zywoo sadly doesn't have the team results to really affirm he's better. However, s1mple has fallen off compared to earlier this year, wherehas Zywoo has improved throughout the year.

You had some - Also curious fact: When Heroic wins tournaments, mvp usually goes to another team

They rely on team performance more than individual performance

It's no joke that Heroic has the biggest flash assist / trade % of the tournament. Faze only won Inferno due to individual performance clutching left and right

stavn robbed
2022-11-27 22:30
9 replies
Fun fact: stavn has been the top performer for the winning team (Heroic) where the MVP has been in the 2nd place team the most times (4): ESL Cologne 2020 EU - ZywOo awarded MVP DH Fall 2020 - ZywOo awarded MVP Pinnacle Cup - blameF awarded MVP and here, BLAST Fall Finals 2022 - broky awarded MVP. Heroic are also the most common team to win an event but not have their player as MVP (5 times), the next closest is MOUZ (4 times).
2022-11-27 22:37

This - Said it somewhere. P1mp had multiple tweets about it during Pinnacle Because no player really stands out in Heroic and there's a player with way higher rating still having a good performance during finals
2022-11-27 22:42
7 replies
Correct. The closest was EPL 13, where cadiaN had a 1.18 event rating, and a 1.14 rating in the final. The MVP, Ax1Le, had a 1.28 event rating, and a 1.08 rating in the final.
2022-11-27 22:49

Yes. That was still a HUGE gap
2022-11-27 22:50
5 replies
It is a large gap, but only the first quartile in terms of 2nd place MVPs. The median event rating gap for 2nd place MVPs is 0.13. Final rating seems to matter relatively little when it comes to the awarding of an MVP, there are 9 instances (of a total of 20) where the 2nd place MVP had a lower final rating than the top performing winner, 3 of which were more than 0.10 lower.

Hmmm. You're right and wrong there. Kjarbye got major MVP due to his incredible performance during finals even tho Device was better the WHOLE tournament other than those finals. Overall hltv.org/stats/teams/players/6665/astral.. Finals hltv.org/matches/2307548/astralis-vs-vir.. That carried him straight to major MVP
2022-11-27 22:56

There are always exceptional circumstances. Kjaerbye was THE difference in a very close final. Since my data is for 2nd place MVPs, my conclusion in #56 may be inaccurate for event-winning MVPs, I don't have the full data compiled for that. Perhaps I'll compile a list for MVPs that won the MVP despite not being the highest rated on their team, though I don't know how many instances there are of this.
2022-11-27 23:11
While looking into #63, I came across a counter-example to Kjaerbye's MVP: At BLAST Spring Final 2021, sh1ro's final rating of 1.40 took his event rating above HObbit's (1.23 and 1.21 respectively; HObbit had a 1.19 rating in the final), but the latter was awarded the MVP for his consistency in the event.
2022-11-27 23:24
I mean if device wasnt dogshit he would won the mvp(If 2nd or 3rd on board)

Yes, broky got the real MVP award.
2022-11-27 22:33
In what world is broky not the superstar? He's given everything in FaZe. Primary awper, constantly allowed to use his teammates as cannon fodder so he can win the 1v2 / 1v3. Twistzz acts as a pseudo-support in FaZe and ropz is left to his own devices and not set up nearly as often as broky is, rifle or awp.

Superstar is definition of a guy that is doing everything for his team and the ratings are unlimited for them consistently.
