My Canadian friend told me that alcohol prices in Canada are high, is that true? If it is true, how can alcohol prices be high in a developed country like Canada?

it has to do with culture in that case I'd say. I can't talk about Canada since I've never been but I know if the US started putting a lot of taxes on beer people would freak out. Also a lot of alcohol in the US is made locally or in the country at least so we don't have to pay to import it/import taxes
The US is an exception to the rule in many things regarding the Developed world, for better and for worse.
