i find it strange that the now #1 and 2 teams both have combined main awpers/IGLs.
in my mind it seems very reasonable that it would be better to have these roles divided. are Jame and cadiaN anomalies or is this a new trend?

not to be mean but why? Like why did you think that? A very quiet person that has NEVER been an IGL at a high level (tier 2 and up).
i think sjuush was igling on some maps in the past, idk if he is now, im guessing not.
But it seems like hes the 2nd caller on the team
sjuush and jabbi have some mid-round input (especially on T sides), but other than that, Cadian is the IGL

Its because igls are bad at the game and awping is easy so they can have 4 good riflers and an awp instead of 3 good riflers, 1 bad rifler, and 1 awp. awp= bait and save to inflate stats. Degster s1mple and Zywoo only skilled awpers. awp should be taken out of the game imo

exactly. scouting takes actual skill but people like device get to awp crutch (and get carried by dupreeh) their way to majors and "goat status". ak you have to hit at least 4 body shots to kill and same with m4. It takes skill to hit a head shot but the awp is just for people who dont know how to aim. Take out the autos and awps and makes scout 15 round clip and raise price to 2000. boom fixed csgo.

They are, especially Heroic who got to the Major final and then won Fall Finals right after beating G2, FaZe, Liquid and NIP in bo3's, but Outsiders winning the Major makes them top2 as well, we have to wait and see though if they can keep that level of play, because they never showed that before
This meta already exists a few years ago with FalleN, if you see that in 90% of the BR teams the AWP is the IGL is by the 'Fallen school' of 2016/2017

Where did I say "currently" in my sentence? Many BR IGLs are no longer AWPers today because they realized that AWP is a weapon too OP to be in the hands of those who are busy preoccupied with their own game, the opponent's game and their own team's game. Furia for example when they had Ablej, Art was the Awper, but he realized that he had a better impact as a rifler and second AWP and Furia called HEN1, a main Awper. People on this forum try hard to look like dumbs. In addition to Furia, which I already mentioned the team.

Well if u think about team spirit, degster and their igl chopper had differences in ideology and how to play the game. Often times AWPers have big ego, like smooya, as much as I like smooya your awper has to be disciplined and play for the team. Thats why even though jame and cadian arent the best awpers they are successful, cause they are disciplined and play for team :D. easiest to execute being on the same player

The AWP/IGL is a deadly combo because main AWP's tend to be less aggressive unless you're in close quarters and combat AWPing which kennyS and m0NESY are known for but having the time between picks is crucial for relaying information and for mid round calling while still having very high impact.

I think an awping IGL makes total sense, since the awper's game pace is slower than a riflers and he stays on the back lines of the team, therefore giving him much more time and space to think and put the pieces together. Also awp is the main weapon which the team plays around which is also the role of an IGL
it depends on communication..
jame has qikert as an entry who also used to igl and is very vocal.
if you have a quiet guy in gaining info role it wont work
in general thats why communication>aim

good question. fallen also one of the goat igls and an awper. it can be a new trend now with cadian and jame having the best teams rn. but even if it wasnt they do this for quite some time now. i find the following question more interesting.
What weapon/role is best for the igl?
Entry? get info, die first, make space and sacrifice call from beyond the grave.
Awp? oversight, brief moments that require you to be active. unless you are working an active angle.
