2020 doesn't count since it was the BS online era so he has been #1 only once. 13 MVPs back before late 2015 it was very very uncommon to award the MVP to the team that didn't win the whole event it's why s1mple also managed to claim so many.

as a non-awp abuser, olof had a good year in 2014/16(before he got injured), also he won so much and was the last player to make every major playoffs to not mention his raw legacy

Many good players of the years, you could argue that current era is super competitive and so on and so fourth. But it will be dominated by Swedish, Danish and Brazilian players. NiKo, s1mple and device have been creme de la creme for many years. Coldzera, Olof and GeT_RiGhT where super dominant in the early years. There have also been many great poles, french, russian and ukranian players over the years. Honorable mentions are: Snax, flusha, JW, dupreeh, Magisk, Happy, NBK and currently: Jame, stavn, sh1ro, EliGE, NAF, ropz and blameF, that could enter these in the future.

2. device, most successful player ever but loses to s1mple as other teams were weaker when he was at top
3. coldzera, sick player but fell off after massive years he had and never came back
4. ZywOo, incredible numbers but not as strong as s1mple with lower achievements
5. dupreeh, high level and many achievements for long time, all majors played, key role player

hard to put Cold above s1mple considering he had 2 good years and completely fell off since them. He's one player you could look at and be like "wtf happened to that guy he used to be so good."
device will always be A GOAT but never will be THE GOAT considering his Major ratings at elimination games at nearly every single Major except that one against VP were pretty low/below 1.0 rating. Hell even s1mple was more successful than him at Majors at one point. Even at his first Major win he disappeared in the finals. It's fair to argue that his Major success was a product of being on the greatest roster of all time with the greatest IGL and Coach of all time.

THE GOAT would refer to individual ability and how it's translated to MVPs and Tournament wins, A GOAT would refer to having the most achievements as a team.
to me, the entire Astralis core, f0rest, get_right, olof are all GOATs
but the GOAT among GOATs will always be s1mple, simply because he has been so ahead in individual skill compared to the rest since pretty much the beginning of his career. Even in 2014 he attended the Major playoffs and was arguably the best player in his team.

I would swap coldzera and s1mple. I think s1mple is at the top longer and he already got his major (if s1mple had 0 majors than I would say cold is greater )
And I agree that dev1ce is the goat. But I am not sure if zywoo and stewie should be on the top5. Maybe some swedish legend should be on it.
Seems like alot of people here started watching CS in like 2016. Any top 5 without atleast GTR (arguably either Olof or f0rest should be on there as well) is just flat out wrong. You can also make arguments for players like kennyS to be on there. Results isn't everything. Players like kennyS and GTR changed how the game was played. Olof was like a light version of s1mple, not the same skillceiling but won games on his own and was like a top 3 player with every single weapon in his prime.
Cold above s1mple?
GTR/f0rest deserves a mention.

Yeah? 2015, 0 br in top 20. 2016, 4/5 LG/SK players in top 20 and in 2017 3/5 were in top 10. You're just proving my point that Cold wasn't "carrying". And SK never had an era cause they were very much beatable. By your logic Olof > Cold. fnatic were more dominant and he has more majors. fnatic in their prime was unbeatable, the same can't be said for SK.

Bruh you just casually ignore the fact that coldzera had 3 good years in his career and did nothing after 2018?Meanwhile s1mple is a top2 player for 5 years in a row and could be the best player of the year 3 times depending on criteria plus he has more trophies than cold
For me i have a hard time picking coldzera for any GOAT status due to just how shortlived his career was. He was good for a couple years and then dropped off, probably harder than anyone else with a top 3 placement. I certainly can't remember anyone else contesting that sheer cliff of a drop off.

pretty much agree although i don't have much of an opinion on get right because honestly by the time i got remotely interested in whatever NIP was doing in 2015/2016 he was already dropping off hard. I mostly followed old astralis (TSM, dig) and fnatic back in 2014/15.

The only way cold can be above s1mple is if you are Brazilian and/or hate s1mple
s1mple hater. You have to be completely out of your mind to even think about putting cold above s1mple, there is no explanation needed here if you actually have any reasoning and are not biased and hateful, the only conversation there can be is whether or not s1mple is the goat or it is dev1ce and I'm sorry, but s1mple is simply a better player he has proven it for years, always surpassing dev1ce in individual rankings even in 2018 when dev1ce litterally had the GREATEST team of all time. dev1ce was NEVER the best player in the world, s1mple will be for the third time top 1 next january, not to mention he also surpassed him in mvps despite being 2 years younger and having very bad teams compared to dev1ce, mostly.

S1mple is the goat, device is the most consistent and Zywoo is like Messi, a huge talent who can do things almost no one else can. But there never was a more complete player than s1mple. Device hugely profited from his team mates, while s1mple excelled always, despite not having great teams most time. Cold is surely good, but he will rank maybe 4th place in this list, not even. Get_right is on 4 for me, he or F0rest. Cold gets 5th place at best. That’s not including CS original players, otherwise he’s not in top 5.
