Map pool solution

Maps should just be rotated every year/half year. Create a larger map pool which consists of 12 maps and change the 7 active map pool every year/half year - take one out and bring another in and the one that has been taken out can't be added for the next 3 map pool changes. There are already 12 playable maps: Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Overpass, Vertigo, Ancient, Cache, Train, Anubis, Cobblestone, Tuscan. Just rotate these maps in 7's and do updates on the maps that are inactive at the current time and then add it back again in the pool when it's updated. This way everyone will know all the maps but there still will be change since the active maps will change and never be the same 7 ones.

reduce mappool to Nuke, Inferno, Mirage. Pros dont want to play anything else anyway.

In half a year you cannot even have a strong strat book for a map, it would be poor cs if they do that, one year? Maybe, but still only change a couple of maps not even half of them

I think changing a map per year could be good, but readd some reworked maps, otherwise the game becomes too fastchanging and that would hurt the quality of the gameplay significantly

Exactly. The whole 12 map pool would be known to everyone anyways, so you can always prepare for all maps. The updates would just be minor improvements to the map like the latest ancient udate

I think they should do 2 more Valve sponsored events a year, and change the Major to once per year and make it even bigger of an event than it already is. Then they should rotate one map out every Major, and announce what the rotation will be a few months before, so teams can be prepared for the new map at the Major.
2022-11-29 12:49
Some teams can't even be consistent in more than 1 map and you expect them to be good if maps keep changing whole year

That's their problem. Only the best survive and persevere. Doesn't seem too competitively interesting if teams just play 1 map that they finally learned. Also - all the mentioned maps ar known to everyone, so be prepared for them. You would know the next map pool, so prepare your best maps from that pool

That's a big problem for the WHOLE competitive CS side of it. Not only for them

Nah, teams that are able to adapt and make strats efficiently would benefit from it. Maybe even new teams would arise that are better at adapting and playing different maps than others
2022-11-29 12:56
I got an idea that every 3 months to change 2-3 maps in active map pool.
2022-11-29 12:50
I'd rather have teams have more time on the maps to develop more and better strats than to have them default every round because maps change so much there's no time to fully understand the maps

All the mentioned maps are well known to everyone. Players would know the upcoming map-pool, so prepare your best maps from that pool

you can't prepare anything while you still have tournaments to play, and teams won't spend as much time developing new strats if they're gonna be potentially useless in a couple months

Nah, you have breaks just like now when there are no tournaments and you can prepare for anubis. If map pool changes once a year, before break, there is enough time and same amount of time for everyone

Difference is that's only 1 map, and you'll see the difference in approaching the map the first couple weeks vs when the map has already been fully researched, same thing that happened with ancient You can't put as much depth into a map pool if it's constantly rotating, even if it's maps that are already known, simply because you won't have as much time to play them in official matches so you won't scrim them as much. Plus every time you stop playing a map you reset your knowledge about it, just look at Spinx when he had to learn to play Inferno at pro level because it was ENCE's permaban

Only 1 map would change a year/half year - pretty much the same as it is now, except that it wouldn't even be a new map, but a well known map

So your solution is doing the same thing they're doing rn? What's the point of this thread then lmao Whole new maps or fully reworked maps, same thing anyways.

100% agree.

12 maps you say? Get ready for the 16-3 scorelines on the opponents map pick. New teams struggle being competitive in 3-4 maps. This kind of change would take cs back 4 years, as the teams would only have resources to cover the basics. Pool of 6-7 maps is sufficient. Switch one map after the last major of the year, announce which map will leave the pool next year.

no active map pool would still be 7 maps. The difference is that the total amount of official maps would be 12, and 7 of those would rotate, replacing each other every year/halfyear

Yeah, but that pace is too fast. Rosters today stick together for 6 months. They barely manage to master 3 maps. If you have that much and frequent alternating of the maps, you need to reduce the pool to 4 active maps

That's only for rosters that don't feel complete yet. Established rosters stay together for a year or even more if they are successful. Do the map rotation once a year and it's all good. Not much different from how it is now, except it would be certain that a change will happen once a year and the whole mappool would be well-known to everyone anyways

I dont think there is in need of a solution where there isn't a problem in the first place. Valve is doing a good job with the Active duty pool, and i am who thinks new maps are needed, while old ones are feeling more and more obsolete. Changing every 2 Major's or so, is a good way.. if they change constantly this will become a clown-fiesta, over one of the most tactical games to exist. I dont think Valve wants the old maps back too. And i agree, best way is to evolve the game before stagnating it. cache, train, cbble.. are in fact obsolete to today's standards.

Yes, that would be every year or half year. Map pool changes are announced right before player break, so players have time to prepare for the new added map
2022-11-29 13:47
I'm sad nobody is asking for +cbble to return.
2022-11-29 13:50
I would like 9 maps in the map pool. Sure, pro will complain but the game will be less stale. Also, it leaves three maps to rebuild, change, etc.
