Comparing players doesn't make sense unless they have almost identical play style. Iniesta and modric do. Messi and maradona do. But you can't compare Zidane to Iniesta, for example.
Modric vs Iniesta? Modric is a more complete player, in my opinion.

Zidane carried france to two world cup finals and should have won both. And he scored in both finals. If he can do that with france then shouldnt messi be able to do that with argentina?? No, messi choked in the final vs germany and scored 0.

One game does not define their career. Messi has the most ballon d'ors ever, and the best individual year a footballer will ever achieve (91 goals + 22 Assists 2012), you can't say Zidane is better just because he won the world cup. Also France during those years were far better than Argentina have been during Messi's career.

Ballon dor is a joke, giving it to goal scorers only since messi and ronaldo appeared even if others deserved it (iniesta, ribery etc). Messi was in a wc grand final and couldnt score 1 goal in 120 minutes. He had the chance to win one but he choked. France beat an insane brazil in 1998 with cafu, roberto carlos, ronaldo etc. Brazil won the wc 1994 and 2002. And zidane managed to beat that team and score TWO goals. Messi is a choker, zidane is the real deal. Messi could only farm la liga with insane midfield like xavi and iniesta. Look now in psg messi dropped off. So no, zidane>messi.

I do think Messi best player of last 20-25 years (i cant say anything for before since very different eras etc. but you can easily say him he is the best)
Also i read this somewhere else in internet and its one of my fav things to say against arguments (potato English i know)

Real GOAT rankings (by me - objective)
1. Cristiano Ronaldo - in my opinion the all time international and UCL top scorer deserves this, most ballon dor points, has also won euro 2016 and was the EURO 2020 top scorer, but he should win this world cup to justify it
2. Messi - 7 ballon dors, insane for many years, if he remains in like top 10 for lets say 2 more years he is above ronaldo (especially if he wins the WC)
3. Maradona - just a magician man
4. Pele - 3 time world cup winner, one of the best goalscorers ever, if he lived in the present where we have much more knowledge about training and diet he would probably be the GOAT
5. Ronaldo Nazario - just a magnificent player
6. Zidane - the reason other people said here
