Movies, music, books etc can all they can make you grow intellectually (granting you watch/read decent stuff with value), emotionally, spiritually.
You can talk about it with people when having discussions
You can meet other people at live shows, at the movies etc
Videogames are just pointless "fun", you don't gain anything, if you meet someone by playing is some nerd on discord that you will never meet, you won't talk it about it with other people in real life unless you're 15 etc

Learning a language is fun if you enjoy learning languages, I like English but have hated learning it. Bit same as learning maths is only fun if you enjoy maths. People's brains work differently and for some learning languages is a lot harder than for others.
Fun makes it not pointless. It's good if you have stuff to do that is fun. Games are good at making you not think about work/school and lets you chill and not think as much since it's active doing something unlike watching movies for example. Idk why you never have fun playing games but guess it's not for everybody. Also maybe you play wrong games or don't know how to make friends online if you think only ones you can find are discord nerds.
Ofc if your hobby is gaming and you don't do anything else in your life then it's obviously a bad hobby since everyone knows it can be addictive.

No. By your logic, any hobby that is just had for the fun of the hobby is bad. Gaming is a way to have fun after a day of work, it's a way to socialize with your friends, it's a way to make new friends, and it gives some people a purpose in life. Saying it's pointless and a waste of time means you personally don't have any use for it, or in other words, you are a socially inept loner who is pessimistic and shit at video games and has an easy life

I do not care about the reused assets, but I would agree with you that the finale felt rushed. My expectations were built up to be incredibly high, so the ending fell kinda flat. But the characters were so well written, and I was so invested in them, that I didn't really care about the overarching story so much. But this is just my personal opinion of course, feel free to disagree.
It seems the game is optimised like trash, low fps on RTX 3080 despite system req saying GTX 1070.

I don't know this game, but nowadays you have to check first if these are real or fake reviews. If all the reviews say basically the same thing with different words, it was possibly mass downvoted by some internet group.

Of course I know - in the EU consumer protection laws lets you refund anything bought online except things made especially for you.
But it still sucks having bought something you looked forward to, finally getting it and then to realize it is trash.
I think it's due to performance issues and not actual story/gameplay issues. If they get those sorted out, there's a good chance the game will make a comeback in terms of reviews

As far as the game goes, it looks interesting, and if they can fix it's technical issues, I might pick it up on a sale, but definitely not day 1 or full price even if it released flawlessly since it's not a genre I am fundamentally interested in.

just because new titles are shit doesn't mean gaming is dead, new titles have always been 80% shit 20% good, it's the classics that keep gaming alive, not the next cyberpunk, it's the CSGO, VALORANT, R6, Minecraft, GTA, Stardew, Fortnite, PUBG, the legendary titles of the gaming world that keep it alive. No one gives a shit about the 99% of games in the steam store that don't even surpass 3 concurrent players, there will always be more shit games than good games, and it's a good thing too.
If ever game that came out was a hit, the old games would slowly fall out of favor and eventually no one would be that good at games because we keep switching to the new thing, and no real community would form around them. Face it, there is no way the gaming community can sustain hit releases and legendary games at the same time forever.

As far as I am concerned, Dead Space was the final game from EA that received the love and care, every game in it's own rightful space, needs.
But just because it was the same creator, don't expect anything these days. Just look at all the failed titles that fail to deliver. I stopped being hyped about new games till they actually prove they are worth my time altogether.
