Seasons 1 and 4 were the best for me
Season 1 imo had the best writing and they were daring enough to kill off their main character.
Season 4 had some great moments and every scene with Tywin in them just carried the show.
Best scene is probably Tyrion's speech at his trial. The way The Rains of Castamere enters the scene at the start of his speech then plays when it cuts to black after the stare down between Tywin and Tyrion.... perfect
Most overrated and overhyped show in TV history.

I watched every single episode because I really hoped it is at least 60% good as the books but it isnt.
And I was really curious about this "last battle" that they were hyping about so much. It turned out to be black screen with shitty VFX.
I'm probably 10 years older than You, seen more movies/tv shows than You and read more books that You've ever seen. GOT is overrated as fk for me.
It has rating like 8+/10 while in my book its 6.5/10 at best.
Some of the actors were trash, literally taken from some Turkish or Polish tv show. Same "acting quality".
It was so damn uneven.. One season was kinda good, next 2 were garbage, next season aight, then 3 more garbage.
They had so many amazing stories in the books, this show could be real masterpiece and They made it medicore.

Seasons 2 and 3 were garbage ? There is no way you've seen this show, man. You're just straight up lying here. Season 3 is one of the TV's finest achivements. The dialogue, the characters, the politics in King's Landing, and that absolutely spectacular Red Wedding episode. These are obviously the main things I have in my mind right now, but there was so much more to it. Simply can't remember everything.
You can even be 60. Doesn't change a fact, that if the only masterpiece for you is "se7en", which is in fact a 8/10 movie with a horrible ending, your taste is either trash, or you've seen 5 movies in your life.

8 seasons in total, and since you said "next, next, then next", you must've been referring to season 1 or 2, and either way you said that season 3 is garbage.

Higher than GoT? Its pretty ez for me cuz I really didn't like the show that much.
Peaky Blinders are amazing, Sherlock with Cumberbatch, True Detective season 1 (that I would call a masterpiece), M.D. House is one of my fav, Gomorra is great (Italian show).
Just a few of the top of my head.
I knew GoT fanbois would get triggered but I honestly think the show was trash compared to the books.

Haven’t watched Peaky Blinders, but I definitely want to give it a go. I’ve heard great things about it. I can’t watch Bendmydick Cumbersnatch, so I’ll never watch that Sherlock show…. His face is simply unwatchable to me.
True Detective, only season 1, was amazing. Those 2 have been friends for so long and they’re just too good together. I really liked that show until season 2 came out. It wasn’t even compatible, unfortunately.
I never read the GoT books, but I do believe the show is an example of when money isn’t an object. The costumes, sets, locations, CGI, etc. They spared no expense, and it felt like you were there with them. Acting was great, story was great, the character bonding groups (Arya/Hound, Jamie/Brienne, Tyrion/Bronn, etc) we’re fantastic….. everything was going so well until Season 8. For some reason they deviated from all that character development and they had people doing/saying things that they just wouldn’t have done earlier in the show. It’s like you knew they were rushing it.
My favorite is Boardwalk Empire. I love the history and all that.
GoT is one of the most sophisticated TV series based on a prominent writer's work, which took 20+ years to write.
The depth of GoT universe is probably unrivaled by any other fictional universe in the fantasy genre and not to forget that, theory crafting on GoT on its own could become a stand alone series due to its immensity.
Sounds like you didn't give the series the amount of attention it deserves.

I think most people can agree that the last season was the gravest sin committed by HBO, and it seems like they rushed the show to conclude asap, but basing the entire show's value only on one aspect is short sighted and disingenuous, the first 5 seasons is a masterpiece on its own.

I found the series a great relief after reading the books and seeing them go from good to meh to boring, while at the same time getting longer and longer.
I think the tv storylines holds up for different amounts of time until some become bogged down, and some even comes back. So it´s hard to pick favorite seasons.
I think the parts with Jamie, Tyrion and Tywin and their dynamics are the best parts. Also Arya until she leaves The Hound.

I think S4 is one of the greatest seasons of television ever made. Still really salty about the later seasons. Best scene is, of course, The Red Wedding. Nothing in media has emotionally damaged me more than that entire episode. I recently bought the three 20th anniversary illustrated editions of A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, and A Storm of Swords for Black Friday. I'm really curious how the books compare to those earlier seasons. I know S5 onward it REALLY strays from the books.
Best season is ofc S4, but S3 also kinda goated. S6 actually have its moments...
Best scene? Jamie bath scene with Brienne perhaps? Ned stark beheading kinda goated as well? Jon Snow vs white walker at hardhome? Dany "high valyrian is my mother tongue"? Oberyn vs the mountain? Tyrion trial speech? Red weeding?

Only on s2 of the Sopranos and it's already so good, but apparently these two seasons are the weakest... I can very well see this show take over my #1 spot of mr robot
The first 4 seasons are god-tier. 5-6 are good with some meh parts. 7 is ok. 8, just like in Star Wars, doesn't exist.
Out of the first 4, hhhm. It's tough. S1 there isn't as much Tywin and Tyrion gets much better once he becomes hand of the king. Daenerys and Jon's stories aren't that great either. So season 1 goes in 4th place.
Season 2 comes in third place. Daenerys' story still isn't as good, Qarth is boring. Jon's still isn't good. The best parts are Tyrion as the hand of the king with Bronn by his side. Robb's efficiency as a commander, Tywin+Arya. Of course, the Battle of Blackwater.
The third and fourth seasons are probably the best because they are the most balanced in terms of how good each separate storyline is. S3, Daenerys gets the Unsullied and Second Sons, Jon infiltrates the Wildlings. The Tyrells fully enter the story, The Dog+Arya story. But I'm taking S4 as the best. What was great from S3 continues to be great, and the narrative flows perfectly. Oberyn into purple wedding into Tyrion's trial into Oberyn vs The Mountain, and The Wall vs the Wildlings. S4 simply NEVER STOPS.

Not a bad choice. My favorite is the first season. Its not an easy job to start the series with such bang and multiple plotpoints that GoT manages to do.

Imo season 1 when Ned loses his head, until that moment i was 100% sure that he would be saved somehow, cus of plot armor like what happens in 99% of the shows.

Define fantasy. Game of thrones has very mild fantasy especially in first few seasons. It could very well be series in medieval history setting.
But its fine to not like something. Fantasy as genre covers quite many things though.
S1-4 are epic tier. After 4 it gradually decreases. The last season is just dogshit. There are like 10 TV shows better than GOT.
i love this show, it always helps me be asleep in 10 minutes
