Many people said that GTA IV is better than GTA SA, so I tried to play it but it keeps using my CPU graphics instead of my nvidia graphics card, I tried to force it through windows, commands and other configs but it still doesn't want to use the main GPU.
anyone had a similar problem?

yes, I tried these solutions, VRAM changed but the game still ran on integrated graphics with 80fps

well i guess the only solution would be playing on an external monitor to force the image to be rendered on the discrete gpu :D

now it shows 6144 MB of VRAM and runs smoothly

it has a ton of problems on PC, aged like every other rockstar game on PC.

It has still aged pretty poorly, the fps cap is pretty low due to the engine being outdated, no real performance gain with newer cards. but I meant their older games, red dead 1 port wont be coming to pc because devs didn't understand the code, it was too much of a mess. gta 4 has a lot of issues with newer cards on PC.

plugged 2nd monitor and it works now
did u set -availablevidmem 20.0 or 10.0 to commandline?
if u have 80fps and gonna use tweaks I'd say its still good
btw its unfortunate that this game has best story and most realistic physics etc but worst port ever
Like I played this game with GeForce 210 or whatever it was, Intel Dual Core and still had 30-40fps and tweaks but some people have 40fps with high specs.

1. GTAIV is terribly optimized. I played it recently and my FPS was varying wildly from ~60 to ~100. Some of the settings eat FPS like Nikocado.
2. Check out PCGamingWiki for essential fixes. It has some mods listed that may/may not help you.
Don't even bother with IV, it sucks. Not to mention how ez this game is. Literally can't die in any scenario.
The physics are great, but the game itself is bad af. Liberty City is so uninteresting.
And the optimalisation on PC is so horrible... You will have an awful time with this game. Play V if you haven't yet, or stay with SA, but don't bother with IV.
Simply bad optimization. This has been a known problem for a decade.
