Here in dupage county only roiders and few slavs on the free-weight barbell. They should be pressing barbell overhead with no weight at least

overhead presses are dangerous for ppl who got weak shoulders and dont know how to do them correctly. barbell is one thing but if ur doing it with dumbbells without sitting ur asking for trouble.

Yep, there is many thing that can happen tbh, even when bench pressing for chest I always do it on a machine so I don't have to worry about not being able to lift it, this way allows me to push closer to failure because its safe

if ur shoulders are weak and ur form is poor, you will have shit control, i've seen a kid in my local gym almost dislocated his shoulders trying to do OHP standing with dumbbells. Look up how much strain it puts on ur rotator cuffs if u do it slightly wrong, it is insane.

Shoulders have cartilage that is very easy to tear. It’s fairly common for people to have happen, and it tends to accompany slight pain and a grinding sensation. Generally, it occurs frequently when people exercise with high weights for low rep ranges.

Overhead press is cool, just a bit troublesome for a loner like me to progressive overload, I have to put all my fucking soul into stabilizing and not getting injured when doing it with dumbbells alone. I`m changing my workout soon, maybe I'll try it with barbells or smith, idk.

What rep range are you lifting in? I have no problem controlling them when it's a weight I can do for 8-10 reps.

Ideally I'd be repping 14kg dumbbells for about 8~12 reps, but my gym has a serious case of missing dumbbell pairs... so I end up having to use 16kg dumbbells for about 4~5 at most, which of course isn't good. I end up doing it in the 4~5 rep range having this control problem and then move down to about 10kg dumbbells like a dropset to try and mitigate the problem a bit. (yeah my overhead press is quite weak).

I would switch to a barbell overhead press then. Definitely not worth getting injured.
