Elden Ring was by far the GOTY. It had no real competition anyway. Way above the other nominees. I racked up 200 hours before I was done. Great game, made for people that actually like games.

How hard is the game for someone who never played any dark souls before? I'm thinking about giving it a shot but I feel like I will get destroyed and quit, how can I avoid that?

This is THE MOST accessible Souls game. No better game to start, you'll be blown away. Not going to lie, it contains the hardest boss they've ever done, but you'll get the hang of it until then.

I'm gonna be honest - there is no reason to play DS1 or 2 in current year. Outdated, clunky, outclassed by Bloodborne, Sekiro, DS3 and ER in everything. A newcommer can easily skip them without really losing any memorable experiences. Remember - those games were good for their time, they are merely okay now, and this is coming from someone who has played them all chronologically. FromSoft are one of the very, very few companies who have consistently improved their games with every sequel (except for probably DS2). The most you could argue here is there's not much reason to do DS3 after Elden Ring, since BB and Sekiro are pretty different.

Yes DS2 is skippable but DS1 and DS3 are a must play if you wanna get into DS in general. The lore is vague and hard to find on ur own but thats the beauty of the games and he will have no clue about how cool the ER predecessors were/are Ofc if he wanna play only ER who cares.

This is very very accessible Dark Souls is more of a "corridor" game, so when you meet a boss, you just gotta fight it and people don't go back to gain XP and more health or magic points. Elden Ring is open world, you DONT have a minimap that tells you where to go, instead you got sites of grace that are showing you.. "da way" where to go and to fight huge bosses, and if you're too weak to beat them you just have to go somewhere else and fight another boss til you git gud enough to fight the boss you were stuck to. And since you're a beginner, you'll need at least 80hours to finish the game! the game is HUGE! i hope you like the game

Im playing my 1st run with Strenght build, but ive played other souls before. But ER is more accessible because the open world give u the chance to over level the bosses.

Took me 80 hours to play and I didnt get bored once, there was so much you could do, so many builds and the bosses and overall exploration of the world was amazing. It was also my first souls like game and it gave me an awesome impression of the genre. Thats what i want from a game, and therefor i think elden ring is def the GOTY

I didnt play the last god of war as i don't have a PS5 sadly, i hope they put it in PC soon so i can play the god of war 2018 was great, but i forgot the game in 2 days lol. Elden Ring was amazing tho, i waited this game for years and it was day one for me I was scared that the map would be not that big and needed like 30hours to end, but i was VERY VERY wrong. the map is huge, artistically the game is just amazing but some things werent very good, a few bosses were copy/paste just like some caves, but overall the game is just amazing. I rarely experienced such a pleasure while playing a game, maybe in RDR2 and TW3 when it came out.

The standard for games this year is so low that I can see why a game that reused assets, bosses and areas as much as Elden ring did got game of the year. No one is looking back and going wow 2022 was the year gaming hit a new level.

Don’t even follow the awards. Just saw that Loud won over faze even though Loud won one event. Yay won over s1mple. And Valorant was also the esport of the year. Seems like a riot bias to me. Elden ring and GOW were both good though.

Valorant isn’t even more popular than CS though. It might be on twitter and shit. On twitch it has a big casual following and it’s trendy but the game overall isn’t more popular. Last time I checked cs still had twice the player base Valorant has. No way is loud more popular team than faze when faze won a major and then one event from the grand slam. Loud won champions ans that’s it lol. And yay had a good year you can’t deny that but a better year than s1mple? No, you can say the same for Zywoo. Not to mention they play in three tournaments a year lol. Just seems like it is biased or rigged.

But is best ORG, not CS team. LOUD is the bigger organization in BR actualy, has a lot of influencers, colab with big brands, teams (with relevance) in a lot of games.

There was no real competition this year. There were a bunch of okay games, but nothing great, Elden Ring was the only great game. I mean, just a few days ago Knights of Honor 2 released, which might be great, I still need to see more in-depth, but that's past the timeline wherein it could win for 2022.
