I had cat and dog too, cat sadly died a year ago aswell. They were best friends and would sleep together imgur.com/a/IqNV00L

I feel you bro. 2 years ago my cat passed away by getting 18yo. Born in summer and die in summer (almost in his birthday) Time will heal, just to be not that sad I recommend you to do your hobbies and other things. Its just from my experience. RiP.

My dog is old too and she actually surpassed the average life expectancy of her breed. She sometimes shits herself but other than that she seems pretty ok for her age. But i'm still afraid to miss her. I had a lot of cats in my life but they were just leaving the house w/o coming back. I actually spotted one of them once going to neighbour's attic and it was long time past but no coming back. Then i decided to check the attic and it was locked there. That shit catches me sometimes like "what if one of my cats ain't died and just got locked somewhere" etc. But obviously that isn't really painful as i haven't seen them dead. On the other hand, my dog's potential death kinda scares me.

I was in your boat man, my dogs breed expectansy is 12 years old and she became almost 16, by the end she was deaf and half blind. Started throwing up alot, in the end it was 5-7 Times a day and i went to see the vet and they said she has something in her stomach and most likely wouldnt had survived surgery (she barely survived previous Surgery)

Always a tough spot to lose a pet but be happy she lived as long as she did. I lost our family's dog last August (she was 13,5 years old) and it was kinda surprising since she was completely fine just a couple of months earlier but she obviously was so old that we knew she would probably die within a year anyway (the average life-span for the breed is ~11 years).
Getting a new dog might seem like a hard thing to do after having a dog for that long, but it can really help you get over your old dog when you have a new dog waiting for you every time you get home from work and you are not constantly reminded of the lack of dog presence in your life.

May your dog Rest In Peace. Condolences to you. Went through the same thing the 17th of December. My dog was only 3,5 tho. She was born without a kidney, and the second failed.

About 4 months ago I had to do the same with my 15 year old Lhasa Apso. It was a rough couple of weeks. I had had him since before I was in middle school, and I'm about to graduate college. It was literally like losing a brother for me and my siblings. But it was the right thing to do. At the end their health drops so drastically, so quickly, and you don't want to believe it, but it would be selfish not to let them pass on. I hope you are doing alright, and I hope you know that even tho it does hurt, you did the right thing. At least in my opinion.

Thanks for the words and youre exactly right, she had prior health issues and we had a bunch of teeth removed, worst part is that its hard to tell if theyre in pain, vet told me she most likely is in pain and probably wouldnt survive surgery and that it would only get worse and eventually within a month or two lead to her death, i believe i made the right choice.
#79 is most likely hltvs dumbest user.
I like hltv at times like these, where they can actually show that they care wether or not there's a random person behind the screen, the fact that peeps here doesnt shitpost on a topic like this actually brings me faith on the internet again!
Also i'm extremely sorry for your loss, A dog is just like any other family member, i'm sure you'll pull through, you got this!
