If some of you ever had one, feel free to tell about it, I'm interested I have been watching videos and doing some research about this topic. One of friend says he experienced it, but nothing creepy happened, he just saw a ball bouncing in front of him and thats it. I have actually never had one, maybe like for a second. I was awake, but I couldnt really move. I was thinking ,,what the fuck" but after a few seconds I was able to move. It was a really strange feeling, honestly i wanna experience it again

Sometimes i dream that i am awake and lying in bed, but i can't move. I try my hardest to move a muscle and after a while i wake up. While this happens i strongly believe that i am awake. The dream feels extremely real. When i wake up i realized that i had the exact same sleeping position that i dreamt of. It's like dreaming but being aware of your environment.

Can you think normally when this happens? I mean can you control your thoughts while being disabled to move? remember that I knew whats going on for that second, it was still very scary, I felt like disabled. Did you see yourself in your dream? I remember I saw my room. I heard stories that people actually see themselves as ,,third person".

Yes you can think almost clearly, It's like you are awake and half asleep. Your body is in deep sleep while your mind is active and almost awake. Atleast this was my experience, can't speak for everyone else.

Yep same
2023-01-25 00:43
Yes, my mind is fully active, i am just not awake and unable to move. i've noticed that it occurs when i sleep on my chest, so i try not to do that.

Funny, because it is the opposite for me. It happens if I sleep on my back.
2023-01-25 14:06
Never had it but you just gotta remember that the paralysis is a defence mechanism of your body to prevent giving yourself further harm - if you can think of it like that it might help
2023-01-25 14:15
It's not a dream man. You are awake but your body is paralized.

I had it once a few weeks ago. It only lasted about a minute or two but was pretty scary until I caught hold of myself and realised what was happening. I didn't see ghosts or anything like that but after I was able to move again I wasn't sure if I was awake or dreaming still.
2023-01-25 00:00
had it few times, just dont fight, it and make sure you have enough air in your room always leave the door or window open

Sometimes i am unable to move or wake up. But then i realize its just a dream and it just goes away.
2023-01-25 00:09
Sometimes I think that I dreamed that I could not move. But supposedly sleep paralysis is that you see yourself sleeping and you can't move.

yeah, it's a weird state of mind. You are awake but not as you normally are
2023-01-25 00:20
I've had it before when I was in my late teens / early 20s. All I remember was waking up and not being able to move. At the time I had no clue "sleep paralysis" was a thing and my anxiety would go into 1000% overdrive. I didn't feel or see a 'presence'. The trick my anxiety played on me was making me think I wasn't breathing. Absolutely terrifying. Probably the things that's scared me most in my life. Strangely it went away probably by the time I was 20 or 21.

I had it happen once. It was when I was detoxing from drugs. I woke up with with a shadow demon at the side of my bed and I was unable to move or scream. It looked like a man made out of shadow, pure darkness, watching over me. I was fully awake and trying to call for help for about 5-10 minutes. Eventually the rest of my brain turned on and I was able to get out of the room. I slept on the couch in the main room the rest of the night and had a nightmare where my father tried to kill me and when I called him out as the demon I saw in my sleep paralysis he said I was right. Then he transformed into my best friend and I started stabbing him to get away, but the stabs did nothing other than make him laugh. Then as he choked me out, I woke up. I've never had anything like that happen before or since then. Not sure if it was "real" or just my subconscious mind stressing in my sleep over the encounter I had earlier. Either way, it was very vivid and something unlike anything I have experienced before-- including taking psychedelics.

I saw a figure watching me as I was in this sleep paralysis state too. And this has happened multiple time to me in the past and I must say that I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle then. Now that I have stated to work out and lost a lot of extra weight, eat healthy ,fixed my sleeping schedule I haven't had this type dream.
2023-01-25 00:19
That's intense. I never saw the shadow guy for me it messed with my breathing. I would literally sit there in bed trying to take a breath or move at all. It's just anxiety I think. Either the shadow guy or whatever other wonderful trick your brain comes up with. It truly sucked. I've never looked into it enough to know what caused it but it went away on it's own naturally.

It's possible it was less, I didn't have a timer going. But that was how long it felt like. At the minimum it was multiple minutes, I know it was more than 120 seconds for sure. The harder I tried to yell out, the more numb my body would go. I could not move or do anything, but when I would try to I would feel physically numb.
2023-01-25 00:25
Happens pretty often when I sleep with some dim light in the room and on my back. I hate it, I feel dread every time but never had some bitch choking me, maybe because I'm not scared of ghosts and shit.
2023-01-25 00:18
woke up in the night, couldnt move at all, couldnt speak, anything... and then i saw that "shadow" watching me, started panicking, tried to scream, call my parents, etc but couldnt do anything, could just move my eyes, and look at that shadow which was also just staring at me.. didnt feel like a dream at all bad experience, was scared falling asleep the next days/weeks happened a few times during that period then never happened to me again. and no, you dont want to experience this
2023-01-25 00:31

I had it once, I opened my eyes but couldn’t move and I felt this weird thing that was choking me to the point where it was unbearable, just generally it felt like I couldn’t breathe. Then I started moving my finger tips and then rest of my body to get out of it. I did not see anything though, luckily.

2023-01-25 00:52
used to have it quite often, at first it was terrifying, eventually i was able to recognize it by not being able to get up or turn in my bed even when trying my hardest, after that it was still scary but usually i just closed my eyes and it stopped eventually. most of the time i saw a shadowy figure somewhere in my room, the scariest one was when the figure started climbing into my bed once, screamed in my sleep and scared the fuck out of gf next to me LOL. havent had it in ages now though
2023-01-25 00:56
I don't have paralysis but I do have parasomnia. I often scream or speak normally during my sleep, even my mother thought i was speaking to her lmao. I also do swear a lot.

My most fond memories of sleep paralysis was me sleeping facing the wall and the wall starts to grow a disfigured face, so i tried to kiss it while blinking a lot. It then turned to a spot on the wall and i woke up.

ive had so many sleep paralysis that i decided to have fun with it. this was one of the instances. my sleep paralysis is one of those where you "woke up" from a real dream but u cant move but i dont have any "demons" or whatever in front of me so i just waited until i woke up and it gets boring and annoying sometimes.

I have had it multiple times, it was scary at first but after the third time I just found it cool. I have a certain list of conditions that I know if they happen then I'll have sleep paralysis. Since I've been getting good sleep for a while now I haven't had it anymore.
2023-01-25 04:05
i've had one but since i knew what was happening i could control myself and i was calm, so i fell asleep, just close your eyes and try to sleep

i have it sometimes, but its been a while since last time. Usually happens on weekends, when i wake up at the middle of the night or early, so caround the later stages of dreaming, known as REM (rapid eye movement). First time i had it was very scary, mostly because of lack of control of breathing, so you are not sure if you are breathing fine. With more experiences you get used to the feeling and know that forcing movements without success is what makes you desperate, so you shouldnt brute force the movement until you get it, you have to stay calm and try a little effort, if you see it doesnt work wait a bit, try to feel your breathing then try again and eventually it stops. Its hard to have a good notion of time, but its safe to say it never lasted more than 1 min, it could go from a few seconds to 20, 30 seconds max. Not always, but sometimes there is the paralysis + vivid nightmare (you may call it night terror) and these are the worst ones, because your mind is more confused, so less likely to act rationally and calmly, and you cant move your eyes too much, so sometimes you can only see a part of the scary entity.

Never had it. I don't have dreams i often accidently supress my feelings or just don't think about anything no idea why. I do try to focus and try atleast once to have one it doesn't work. But from what i remember you can actually change your sleeping paralysis into good thing if you just close your eyes and focus deeply about your surroundings, hear them touch them and shape them into what you like. In that way you can change sleeping paralysis into Lucid Dream

I actually had an episode a week ago, i went for a nap at about 2 pm and after a while i kinda woke up but I couldn't move my body, and also I could talk, I tried to scream for help lol It was kinda fucked up and I panicked, but I basically "went back to sleep" and after I woke up 2nd time I was ok But tbh I was scared of going to sleep that night :))
