So since becoming the rank 1 team (by winning a qualifier event) Herlowic have crashed out of Blast finals in last place, lost a BO3 to EG and failed to win their group at Blast Spring. Are they the worst team ever to be ranked top 1?

Still G2 bested Outsiders right after, with one map being 16-1 to G2, therefore Outsiders are fluke major winners.
I wonder if Outsiders stand a chance at Paris. If they go home early, they're definitely fluke major winners.

Heroic are worse than EG. EG won a big event and consistently made semi-finalist appearances at big events months prior. They might have even been the 2nd best team at the berlin Major.

Definitely not. Astralis was hands down, they just didn't play anywhere near as much, and hltv has come out and said before that playing and finishing last is better than not playing on their rankings.
NRG/EG beat Astralis where they both attended in ECS S7 Finals, EPL S9 Finals and ESL One New York. As opposed to both majors, Katowice, Cologne, IEM Beijing, EPL S10 Finals, ECS S8 Finals and Dreamhack Masters Malmo where Astralis finished higher.
Astralis had the much better success list and did so in the bigger events, they just played a limited amount in comparison. And even in the events they didn't win, they made playoffs in all bar one, and that one was still a 5th/6th place finish. NRG/EG had 3 lower finishes than that, one of which was a last place at Katowice.

People from EU still say the liquid grand slam doesn't count because Astralis weren't there for all the events. Even though Astralis weren't winning the events they showed up to (including the blast events) got knocked out in cologne etc.
What's next should we take away Astralis's wins from when Faze had to play with replacements for Olofmeister in 2018?

Not the first time teams go missing after a break and start playing a lot worse, Navi & Faze were clearly and by far the best 2 teams coming to summer break last year and didn't get any results after the break, Liquid in 2019 was dominating before the break but then were never the same after it and there are probably many more examples of that too. I'd still give Heroic time, they've consistently been around a top5 team since the online era going in playoffs almost every single tournament so I wouldn't be too worried with the slow start.

They had a stand-in at the World Finals and were eliminated by losing two really narrow games. And now they've lost 1 game (again narrowly) to EG, who they then beat comfortably in a rematch, and lost to a well-performing Vitality. You can argue they shouldn't be #1, but people acting like they're playing especially badly (third highest-rated team at the event btw) are just wrong. And yes my flair checks out.

They were also the top rated team in the easiest group and still didn't top it. Any team that had got to play EG twice and Astralis in their group would be among the highest rated ones.
At the end of the day, they've gone 6-6 in maps so far even with that group. Vitality went 6-1, Faze has gone 4-1 so far and G2 has gone 4-0. So yeah, I am comfortable in saying they are not top 3 at the moment. I would argue that NaVi would be a decent chance at knocking them off as well, and they'll be hoping Liquid lose or they'll be fighting to even qualify and not have to go to the showdown.

To be honest, I wasn't really arguing they are top 3, more just agreeing that people are being hyperbolic. Their performance this event (obviously) hasn't been top 3-worthy. Their relatively high rating was just to point out that even when they're struggling, it's not like they're falling completely flat.
