Out of Military

Germany Janton
Damn bro, in 2 weeks I finish my 2 year military service, I will give my opinion about the German military below Pros: Decent Pay (2k/month for beginners, gets more every rank upgrade + years you stay) Added Hours (I made 150h extra during 2 week practice, then straight 3 weeks off afterwards) Brotherhood (no one got bullied or made fun off, everyone is part of the team) Sport (3-4 times a week sport during working hours, best thing ever) Experience (you shoot at least 4 different weapons regularly, different locations, insights of the military) Cons: Away from home (most of the times you get placed far away from home, only home on weekends) Hierarchy (no matter how dumb the order is, you have to do it if its an officer or a sergeant) Bad Equipment (so much is broken and outdated, we still use a lot of equipment from 70 years ago) Nothing to do (if we don't go to 2 week practice we often have nothing to do and just sit around in office or our room) Overall great experience, but I decided to go back to my old job because Family, Gf and friends are more important, I can't be away from home for 5 days a week. I think if you live near the Barrack, it's a fantastic job, at least here in Germany.

The mandatory service in Finland is basically either 165 days or 347 days (depends what they want to train you for and how long that takes, I was 347 days). For the first 165 days it's I think 5,20 €/day, after that (if you are in the army for 347 days) it's couple of months for ~9€/day and last couple of months is ~12€/day. The pay is terrible but the government helps with some of the expenses like rent if you need help. I think a lot of people still live with parents when they go to army since it's usually when you are between 19-21 years old.

Wtf thats ridiculous. In Switzerland you get paid 80% of your salary if you had a job in the last 12 months. But theres no help with rent etc, only if you already have children you get extra money. Btw since 2023 we earn an additional 7.50 CHF per day on top of the 80% (not that it matters much compared to salary)

It was so annoying since I was working for the Finnish Defence Forces (accounting) for half a year before my service started and they even said they would have kept me if the service didn't start. So I dropped from ~2,6k/month to ~5€/day while working in the same "company"

copium. you know exactly what he's talking about. besides you just know that whenever someone mentions 'female defence minister' you know she hasn't got any semblance of a military career, ergo she has no idea what she's doing and is completely reliant on advisors. oh and advisors are almost always political appointments, so the ministerial structure will be completely rotten at the top levels. luckily the army can operate without them, but it's not gonna be good.

well in indonesia it also happened for police/military officer. they said it was to prevent some individual from gaining/building too much power or money in their respective region heck even some civil servant do that too, especially under financial ministry maybe it unnecessary right now in germany, but when bad times hit, you surely want those precaution in place or even stricter

you go to a recruiting program, they test your fitness, mental (with a computer test) and a personal conversation where they ask you critical questions about you and how you'd react in certain situations (like would you kill someone in war etc.) even for the 2 years you have to go through all of this, but it's not that difficult, if you want to become an officer though, you gotta ace that shit.

Military is an easy and decent job indeed, basically no requirements such as diploma or good grades/exams, i would like to work there if it wasnt for putins regime. In a peaceful country its a good option. Also, cant you just work in a military in your city? Thanks for the reply, it’s crazy how hard it is to avoid meat and dairy still in 2023. The military here serves food with no meat because we have a big Indian population but dairy is in everything it seems. Hopefully this changes soon. What’s ironic is that the ‘Canada food guide’ (federal health agency dietary guide) basically recommends a primarily plant based diet with occasional meat and dairy consumption.

I served 1 year in Russian Navy Don't fucking recommend. You go to the seas - you don't see girls for months

Pros: If you're in a military. You'll get respected person in society Cons: Somewhere after retirement, you'll regret about the decision you made to join the army

far from home is a relative thing. for example if u live in moscow and serve in syberia/far east (or vice versa) it's actually far away from home. but when u serve in a different region of germany and can visit your family during weekends i think it's not that bad

so how dumb the orders or hierarchy could be?
