You do understand that this list implies that Europe has triple the player base of NA and doesn't even include most countries in Europe?

Especially when you consider the west coast and east coast players basically never play with each other.

i know enough math to realize that Bruhzil with less than 5% of playerbase can reach major semis while NA can't even reach playoffs with 13%

not that one, but we won 2 majors and reached finals in another one, while NA has only 1 fluke major win

This is something Europeans need to realize. It seems like every euro tries their hardest to become a pro. Most in NA don’t dream of being a pro player or try to become one. We smoke some weed after work and +forward and take every aim duel.

While that is true, I think NA players don't think about becoming pros as much BECAUSE there are no great NA teams. The chances seem much more hopeless so that probably discourages people from trying.

Exactly, say we had an NA m0nesy type prodigy, the possibility of them getting on one of our 2 NA teams (liquid lives in the Netherlands) is next to impossible so they don’t even try

Yeah and the lack of people wanting to try also makes the practice for those talents incredibly difficult. Realistically if we want NA CS back we either need Liquid AND teams like Col/EG to do well internationally or we need more international t1/t2 NA tournaments so there is more people to practice against.

there is no fun in brainlessly playing counterstrike its like playing chess but without following rules, just randomly moving the figures

I enjoy playing brainless CS and just fucking around. If I tryhard and try to be smart I just piss myself off.

This is where EU and Scandinavians in particular differ from North Americans. Vast majority of our playerbase does not care to be the very best they can be at CS, they have no interest in learning lineups or trying to coordinate with the team. We’re really just trying to run around and his headshots. It’s a form of stress relief or a way to pass the time. We are not obsessed with trying to be the best at everything we do

but its not like we all tryhard and play to be the best we can be a lot of players in eu dont tryhard, and even if they play for fun they still try to be useful for their team, dont do stupid things that would cause losing like running solo with bomb etc

In NA there’s a bit of an unwritten gentleman’s agreement to not play like a cringelord and not to draw out rounds unnecessarily long. This results in a playstyle that’s fast, explosive, and uncoordinated, we find it fun. NA players see EU CS as unnecessarily slow and cautious. You guys hide in corners all round and try hard with utility, constant jiggle peeking, full site execs etc. we think it’s cringe for casual play It’s just a difference in mindset. As someone who has no desire to become a pro and just wants to hit headshots to kill some time obviously I’m going to prefer the NA approach. Just some observations

Playing the game as it is supposed to be = being cringelord Okay

Kinda, the game is deeply flawed hence why North Americans prefer Valorant

but i get your point tho, i can see why americans overally prefer consoles over pcs and especially games like cod

Didn’t even think of that, yea. Reinforces my point that North Americans tend to play games more casually than Europeans

Those stats are still saying NA is around 15% of the playerbase and EU is more than 40% (Not including the vast majority of EU countries). It makes sense that EU > NA.

Yeah lol, would make sense if they were saying NA < Asia CS but that is still a delusional take. NA is clearly still the second best region (Assuming EU/CIS fall under the same as they both play in the EU qualifiers).
2023-01-28 20:49
Literally those numbers are telling you the exact opposite of the point you are trying to make.

+1, the chart should show the playerbase by region, not country.
2023-01-28 20:44
Despite making 13% of the global playerbase, the NA playerbase makes up for 50% of the griefing bans and automutes on csgo, whilst making over 80% of the professional groupstage exits on tier 1 tournaments.
2023-01-28 20:27
bc differnt cultures and c.o.l in other countrys is different/sustainable as where NA isnt as, plus the need to want ratio of wanting to go pro is far off from that of EU countrys
2023-01-28 20:28
question is why are so many ukrainians still playing even tho their country gets bombed everyday?

There aren’t opportunities in NA. We only have 3 notable teams, and last season 5 spots of the 15 available were held by foreign players. (YEKINDAR, NeaLaN, CeRq, Hallzerk and JT) Meaning there are only 10 financially viable jobs in NA CS. And our t2/3 scene is horrible now that Optic, Envy, GenG, ghost, Chaos, C9, Triumph, etc. are all gone.

Just further between talented people in US compared to EU

based on mm, good coaches are hard to find, everyone wants to build a brand for themselves at the same time because that is what they'd eventually have to fall back on because being really successful in this game is hard(in NA of course)
2023-01-28 21:20
this is based on steam flag btw
2023-01-28 21:22
Its fun, I play CSGO because I enjoy playing it and I've never had aspirations to be a professional player. The vast majority of players share that feeling, and the ones that don't aren't offered a chance. Here in NA we don't have an honest FaceIt level 10, the level overall is lower here and so even if you want to become better you'd still be ways behind Europe.
