What Happened to StarLadder?
Xizt |

The last time I remember them holding an event was an RMR like 2 years ago for the CIS region, and the last time they held a real LAN was in 2019 I think. What happened to them? My guess is its the war in Ukraine, and if so will they ever come back?

The major wasn't very good, but their Starseries events were enjoyable to watch and I don't want to only watch ESL and BLAST events every year

Actually while on this topic where did Dreamhack go? I know they're still around and they're holding a festival or something in my city of San Diego soon but the last time I remember them holding an event in CSGO was over 2 years ago. Did these organizers just pull out of CSGO?

It's very confusing name, because we also have ESL Challenger League. I wish it was called ESL Drehack or just any name different than Challenger

Interesting that Jame in his videos still calls them Dreamhack

Forget StarLadder, we still need ELEAGUE

I think ELEAGUE is gone, at least for CSGO. Its been years now and no words from them, even their twitter is inactive

I'll give to NA, ELEAGUE had some of the best production out there.

Wasn't it around this time, 5 years ago that C9 won the major? It was their 3rd last event I think, what a shame

I dont know about starladder(wouldnt mind them coming back tho, tired of this duopoly) but I would surely want back dududududuududududduud.

Its not even a duopoly, its at a point where ESL just keeps BLAST around to innovate new features for them to steal or bring up talents so they can take them for their events. The fans don't even value BLAST events, all of them are seen as lesser tier 2 LANS and the only real events are ESL held ones.

It seems ESL just established a monopoly after the saudi money started flowing in and BLAST is the only one to hang on..

BLAST is also saudi i think, the two were bought at the same time IIRC

Pro league goes on till end of March. also back when StarLadder etc did run tournaments , there where much less and shorter breaks between tournaments and teams don't really want this anymore

esl pro league taking up so much time and its so boring smh
2023-01-29 11:57
Esl would have to remove some events like 1 pro league (idk why there has to be 2 every year, 1 is more than enough cuz it takes too much time) and one of the little iem tournaments. You could fit 3 or even 4 new tournaments if that happened

Used to be fun when there were more different kind of tournaments ran by different TO's with somewhat unique productions. ELEAGUE, Starladder, even ESL had Dreamhack and ESL One tournaments in addition to IEM which have ceased to exist post covid.

Yep, lately everything feels the same. Honestly miss when Dreamhack, starladder, cph games and some other smaller LANs were sprinkled around the year.

Have been bo3 in 2018 and 2019. Besides they have the same owners as VP, and apparently it's government sponsored. Literally no chance they return, maybe only with Epic ZV Cup 2023

That was actually always my favorite event, I loved the whole set up. Last time they held a real cs_summit was in 2019, although as far as I know they still exist. Hopefully 2023 is the year they return
