Valve destroyed not Russians. Only reason cs is even this popular still its just GOAT fps game. So easy and satisfying to play, has legacy about 23-24 years.

Solely because of the fact that they've been around the longest. Blast has arguably better production but are a relatively new operator and less established than ESL. This could however change in the next few years.
2023-01-31 19:36
Their events tend to be after player breaks. The reason that 2021 had super high numbers was because of new g2, new faze, new vitality, new liquid.

I think that the format and lack of huge roster moves played its part as well. Year ago during blast we had monesy debut, ropz on faze, danish trio on vitality etc and thats what blast lacked this year.

Yeah these things also don't help. The article mentions a lot of factors that could have contributed, it's no huge cause for concern yet in my opinion, especially because csgo player numbers remain stable
2023-01-31 17:08
1 reply
Yeah i guess numbers will go back to normal soon but i must admit that i dont feel sorry for blast after the faze/konfig drama. People criticising them, including pros, are more and more vocal i feel
2023-01-31 17:10
no, blast is just boring af easily the most boring csgo event ever created i always watch every tournament but i cant stand to watch blast its so fucking dull
2023-01-31 18:49
blast.tv chat was dead most of the time i was in there so i highly doubt it
2023-01-31 18:56
People don't want to watch the same teams playing vs each other a million times with low stakes making games not matter.

No Brazilian team = no viewer Brazillian and russian are the mos passionate viwers, so if blast don't have at least 1 br team as partner this would be normal
2023-01-31 17:09
16 replies
I wish that Blast had planned ahead and given a SA team a partner slot. I'm sure that whatever team they gave the slot to wouldn't sell it to a European team after building the 5th or 6th best South American roster.
2023-01-31 18:32

They dont "give" but sell the partner spots. Apparently brazilians teams are either not interested or too poor to afford one
2023-01-31 18:35

I sure wish that Blast had *sold* a partner slot to an SA team. I'm sure that team would be fully devoted to the Blast circuit, and not sell the slot to Heroic after making the 5th or 6th best South American roster.
2023-01-31 18:37

Wouldnt change much tho. Most brazilians dont watch an official stream so no much profit for blast anyway.

Okay. I can't tell if you don't get it or not, but MIBR sold their Blast Partnership Slot to Heroic. hltv.org/news/33653/heroic-acquire-partn..

I dont know what is your point. Why would blast sell a spot to "devoted" furia instead of mibr for example.
2023-01-31 18:44

Because they already sold a spot to MIBR. And then MIBR sold it away.
2023-01-31 18:48

Mibr has much bigger financial backing + had one of the most popular csgo teams at that time while all other brazilians orgs were poorer and had worse players. Selling it to any other SA team than mibr would be stupid

2023-01-31 18:59
FURIA surelly has the money, their operations is in USA Akkari and Jaime (FURIA owners) live in the USA. They have a rocket league in USA, an Apex team that is NA, not only this but they also have the Valorant and LOL franchise. Other brazilian csgo orgs that probably have the money(Not sure) are paiN(Most likely to have), Fluxo and then Team One because the team is backed by Los Grandes. There is also 00Nation, but they only have brazilian players while the org itself is from Norway.
2023-01-31 20:39

Well flashpoint spot was worth 2kk i think so blast is surely more expensive but if brazilians think that brazilian orgs could afford it, im not arguing against that
2023-01-31 20:43

Lucaozy buyout from Sharks to Fluxo was 329000 dolars, do you really think that if an org paid this for a player they couldn't rise 5000000 to 10000000 to a Blast slot that isn't even paid upfront and is paid by year? Sometimes you guys forget that Brazil has a large economy in GDP terms.

Partner teams are a shitty format especially when the teams suck There were like, maybe about 6-7 games that were memorable otherwise all other games were boring as fuck The group with Astralis heroic and vitality was the best group imo.. The G2 NaVi group was boring G2 were hardly challenged The NIP and Faze group was just utter garbage Then the playoffs were shit...Astralis OG being the best game in all of the 6 matches

what are you talking about, nip was with g2 and navi in group. This tournament was just a playground - navi with new player, nip with new player + with sudden hampus leave ergo 2 new players in team mid tournament, faze with es3tag as a standin. Nobody really cared for this tournament, as aleksi said - they were here to have fun and make mistakes to learn from them.

It's just Blast being boring. Two weeks of qualifiers with a shit format.
2023-01-31 17:15
They did it to themselves with their dogshit format.. No one even cared about their fucking 'world finals', which is supposed to be their most hyped event.
2023-01-31 17:16
Because of the most boring format known to man. people always critisize blast formats but this has got to be some of the most uninteresting matches of all time. way too many repeated matchups, a million chances to go through (like many pros pointed out)

2023-01-31 17:21
Absolute garbage format. The group stage had absolutely 0 stakes on the line. And play-in matches where it counted, had garbage matchups. Literally, the only good series were Navi:G2 (because of the teams playing, even tho both ended in more or less of a stump) and Vitality:Herioc. And those were in the group stage where nothing mattered anyway.

Its like a qualifier lol who cares Make a post if its the same in katowice
2023-01-31 17:30
Cs too saturated, we don't have 3 day weekends yet. bring back CPL style, 2 big majors per year summer/winter , gaming isn't a sustainable career/professionalism as we are seeing, lets get back to bragging rights and love for the game with the money being the icing on the cake
2023-01-31 17:31
to be real who cares about Blast except for world finals?? their own tournaments are meaningless. That is the curse when you built your own big event on other tournaments.

they should do a 16 team event w partner team +4 w a real trophy at the end would be much better and they can still keep the top 4 for next bigger event plus blast showdown would be much better

All good matches are casted by garbage casters like scrawnny and launders cant watch for longer than 2 mins with those annoying casters
2023-01-31 17:56
Because people are finally realizing that blast has the most boring circuit in the world Partner teams play a quadruple elimination and other teams have to play a qualifier for a qualifier for a qualifier for an event in which they fight for 1 spot in the finals
2023-01-31 18:06
Blast is boring

2023-01-31 18:37
not really worrying in terms of viewership as there's no crowd, no huge stakes, no real pride from winning this event. It's just a tournament to get to the next BLAST tournament in terms of format it's more worrying.
2023-01-31 18:39
not at all, since they didn't even rent an arena. I'm pretty sure the viewership satisfied them.

this format sucks there's no point making a qualifier for a tournament with 8 teams. we all know it's going to be the same teams playing like wtf?

"This represents a decline of 110,000 viewers (42 percent) when compared to the 2022 Spring Groups" well, lets look at the 2022 spring groups. it was the premier of: -m0nesy in G2 -ropz in faze -the new international vitality roster -the new liquid roster (nitr0 return to csgo + shox) -the new EG roster (with the core of major winners) -the new complexity roster comparing it to the 2023 spring groups with -npl in navi -headtrick in nip -es3tag standing in for faze there was simply more exciting roster moves thatd be premiering at the event, so naturally more viewers. not blasts fault that not as many teams wanted to make big roster moves this winter
2023-01-31 19:31
Watching the same partner teams is boring af. Katowice will be much more interesting even if ESL production isn't as good.

Their format is just awful. Especially the spring and fall groups are just useless filler and they are way too far apart from the finals.
2023-01-31 20:57
For me personally most of blast matchups were very predictable so even being totally free I prefered to go touch grass instead of watching either total trashing or trash vs garbage matchups (hi liquid eg) I watched NIP (flair) and Heroic (second fav team) and thats it, if they werent in the tournament, I wouldnt have watched it at all probably
2023-01-31 21:05
its probably the format, this tournament was basically qualifier not many ppl watch these, some shit teams no one want to see, eg complexity and would argue that blast have some of the worst casters out there
2023-01-31 21:07
This is kinda like basing major viewership off of the rmr
2023-01-31 21:36
Well of course, its deserved and makes sense. They either have low-importance closed-circuit qualifiers, or their big arena tournaments, which is actually just some mid 8 team events with the same old matches as their qualifiers. And yes, 8 team events are mediocre, there are so few matches that they can't be on the same level as a 12 or 16 team event. Blast doesn't deserve good viewership quite frankly, their tournaments are just so sub-par and meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Whenever they have proper 16-team tournaments with the REAL top teams in attendance rather than just their partners I'll give them the respect they will have earned. IMO the world final is the only blast event which is actually good since it actually has a good qualification system that doesn't favor partnered teams too much.
