2 great episodes with a good start and then what? a completely filler episode already?
There is an incurable fungal virus that is killing the world population off, one survivalist who had nothing at all to do with the first two episode decides to stay behind in his neighborhood and raid the shops for food, gas for his truck and his generator, he sets up elaborate traps for any zombies that might fancy a visit and all is well until a gay dude falls into one of his trap! No people anywhere for 3 years and the first person to turn up just happens to be gay.. then it turns out that our survivalist is gay too! what a surprise!
So from then on its Broke Back Mountain in Fungusville.. the story and the plot, the zombies the devastation of the earth with the virus, all gone for a gay fest.
tldr: last of us became the last of gays, nice!
p.s: i have gay friends and im not homophobic, just thought this episode was totally pointless

it shows a relationship between joel/tess outside of the qz and explains how Joel knew to go there for supplies and to get the truck. The whole relationship part is a bit of filler but can't it just be good television and admit it added a little to the plot? Show still follows the game it's not like they kept them around past the 1 episode...

Instead of hard boiled action on the streets of Lincoln infested with runners, clickers and bloaters, searching for the one remaining battery, which was eventually stolen by a dick character called Frank, we get a melodrama with Bill and Frank. Episode was a big downer for me. Wasted potential. Bill's character was so loveable because of his cynicism and hard-core will to survive and the "TV Bill" has somehow landed in the series from Hallmark channel. Neil Druckman is obviously a genius, but a spineless one!

How is the episode pointless if Bill and Frank is writen kinda the same, but a bit diffrent. The only diffrent is how they die. HBO should only change much for season 2, cuz part 2 was not like or loved by fans and gaming community.

If you want TLOU to be a no-filler series you are expecting the wrong things hahah. Think about it, how boring of a roadfilm would it be without filler episodes that show other aspects of life in a world like this.
E + J figure they need to be in X location -> Go there, but meet some zombies on the way
E + J find out X location is abandoned, now need to go to Y location -> Go there, but meet some zombies on the way. etc. etc.
All these zombie encounters on the road that you get in the game, don't translate to film at all. The series would be over in 5 episodes without filler. IMO.

well of course you cant do a zero filler series, but at least make those fillers interesting or relevant to the main characters.. a love story between side chars for an entire ep is pointless

Ya know it is because Bill wasnt in the first 2 episodes that it is nice to have a filler on what he was doing since he was living like a god. Honestly if Episode 3 was just Ellie and Joel walking into Bill's home with these large fences and shit and nothing really explained how the hell he got that, I would be pretty sad, cause thats also something that adds story telling. You cant just leave details out cause you want action.
If you do want that then you should 100% not watch any movie/series that HBO releases.
What is sad tho is that Bill isnt alive at the end and that Frank wasnt bitten

not every episode needs constant violence though. this was a good episode that 1, fleshed out the story of bill and frank, and 2 made the stakes higher for joel. and dont know why u care that its two gay people it wouldve worked with a straight couple and it worked with a gay one who cares

Watching snow melt is more interesting than episode 3. I don't mind their relationship at all but integral premise was that Joel and Ellie arrive at the breaking point of Bill and Frank's romance and all shit hits the fan with missing car battery, stolen by Frank. It's Lincoln playground dude and no high-school gym scene with bloater? Not my cup of tea!
why did bill and frank's story need to be fleshed out? if you consider their relation to the main plot they are quite literally the dead people's house that Joel stops at to pickup a truck. if any love story needed to be fleshed out it was Joel and Tess's love/relationship story. would have made a lot of sense to do that before she died because when she died I didn't care that much for her as a character, she seemed expendable from my point of view, if they took the time to flesh out their relationship in a backstory episode I might have cared.

Bro would have zero problem if it was a straight couple with that fucking amazing acting and a backstory that shows how the love of someone else in the apocalypse can give your own life true meaning and sets up that relationship between Joel and Ellie and gives so much more meaning to the place when Joel shows up after theyre dead

Missed a point by a mile, this episode just diverted the focus on a side characters making it more difficult to correlate with Joel and Ellie. Lincoln is the place where Joel bonds with Ellie as she proves to him that she is a valuable asset in dire straits situations. As Joel said to Bill before they depart: "You gotta admit - she did hold her own back there." Now, those are the moments we are deprived off as we watch two grown-ups picking strawberries!
this "filler" was better than episode 1 and 2
just admit you really aren't comfortable with gay people. "and I have gay friends!" is the most cringe thing you can say while bashing 1 episode of a TV show with a gay backstory

You're watching a show where's people dying and killing each other, people with the face covered in mushrooms and shit that bite each other but what traumatize you is a love story. It makes sense.
Gay scenes in the episode consist in two guys kissing each other with no passion at all, wow, same episode with heteros would include boobs, ass in foreground and a shot from the roof showing how they are doing sex in bed while being nudes, and that would be great and much needed for all of you!!
