Yes, and I have my reasons for it. To be clear, both operating systems are rather good and have their pros and cons, I just tend to gravitate more towards android. I like it better, it lets me fuck around with more stuff. I'm a poweruser, if that makes sense, which would be rather impractital with an iPhone. Also, I stan headphone jacks

Sony and Asus flagships still have it, not sure about other brands :D I'm using an LG V30 (LG's flagship back in the day) and I'm keeping that one as long as I can, that thing has one of the best DACs I've heard in a phone, that one's a keeper.

I mean, I love the progress that's being made with wireless stuff, but as a kinda-audiophile, I like wired more, and it's more reliable. I've been using an LG V30 since it came out, and though I bought a separate DAP a few years ago, I still love that the V30 can drive most of my headphones without issues.

honestly id go for the android if you dont already rely on any apple services honestly hate how socially unacceptable it is (at least with the younger generation) here in america to own an android as its often just seen as a poor phone compared to iphone. not saying iphone is bad or isnt worth the money but its a very different experience using iphone vs android. id look at the iphone 14 and see if you like the design, the camera and ui etc vs that of the s23. if you like the iphone more then id wait but also consider that the 15 will come out twords the end of the year and you will have to wait that long and depending on where you are you might have to battle it out for stock

honest question - why "never update system"?
2023-02-03 11:58

through comprehensive research into many technology companies it has been confirmed that just selling a product that works as intended forever isnt profitable so they install defects over time which means you need to spend money on a new product like your current which worked well until it didnt anymore or you upgrade to their newest product. The way they install these is through updates and patches, it was leaked that Apple has been doing it for years and they aren't the only company.

Thanks man, didn't know that stuff :)
2023-02-03 21:08
Sounds like raw nonsense. True that technology and any companies would just run themselves out of business, if they just sold products that works forever. But for smartphones? The stuff wears out, gets scratches, easy to drop and have continuously decreasing battery life. Talking about software, you can just uninstall bloatware any time.

in washing machines is a prime example, the part called 'element' needs to be replaced for your machine to even function. This wasnt always the case and does exist in all products in todays market. As for you listing example of how phones take natural damage to its use life thats true but Apple admitted they ran software updates with purpose to depreciate its lifespan. Isnt hard information to research and read about yourself.

Did apple literally per quote admit that "they ran software updates with purpose to depreciate its lifespan", or is it interpretation/conclusion that you/others have drawn indirectly?

Here is an old article for you as you don't believe me (people do lie I guess):- bbc.co.uk/news/technology-51413724 Can read about it, this is pretty soft article and the reality of it is worse than it seems in the reading here. An extract incase you can't read : 'The French watchdog said iPhone owners "were not informed that installing iOS updates (10.2.1 and 11.2) could slow down their devices.'
2023-02-05 01:00
6 replies
"The setting is only enabled when the battery begins to degrade, and iOS now offers clearer information to consumers about when performance management has been switched on." - Sounds like not a black and white case with only single conclusion. Though I do think it's fishy that making phone run slower would somehow prolong allegedly degraded battery's lifespan.
2023-02-05 01:10
5 replies
The battery degrading is nothing todo with IOS software updates slowing older models, they just got let off the hook by paying a fine and inserting a warning that they do this, they even still do it. Its really fishy but accepted today as everyone does it.

Honestly, if you're not an extreme power user, just get the iPhone. I feel like in general, the software of the iPhone is just more polished and gives the average user a cleaner experience in my opinion. Unless you care about having something with a 18347319478x zoom and a 134781 gigashits per megafart processor then just get the iPhone. It's powerful, great battery, nice software, amazing cameras and will last you a long time :) Pixel 7s are also an amazing option too, they're a bit cheaper so you can save a little bit of extra money getting one

I can't think of a single time in my life, even as someone who has a Samsung right now, where I've thought "thank God this phone has a 100x zoom and the most powerful raw specs on the market". The user experience is so nice on Apple devices and the software is so efficient it's basically as powerful as an S22 anyway :)) Hope this helps mens

2023-02-03 10:51
I really love the freedom I get with apple to copy and paste files from my hard drive to the phone just like it's another hard drive I also enjoy how consumer friendly they were by slowing down my phone with each new software update so that they could be sued later and give me some money back I enjoy the freedom of always having an universal charger around so if anything goes wrong with my cable I can just use any other cable for any other product I have around my house I love that I can plug my xbox controller into my iPhone I also enjoy that I am free to repair my own phone with parts I get from the internet for $150 without it voiding the warranty I love that I the freedom I get to install programs like pokerstars or n64 emulators so I don't have to play shitty phone games on my phone when I'm bored I also love all the encouragement apple gives me by purchasing an iPhone to get other apple products because so many things are incompatible and difficult to use. It just shows me how bad windows is as an operating system so I just know my next laptop had to be a mac book air which is also way better value that any other laptop on the market. ITunes is also the best program ever created Also only fucking cool people who really know thier tech buy iPhone so it makes me feel like I'm an influencer I almost forgot I was talking to my friend Jennifer Lawrence the other day and she couldn't stop singing the praises of how secure the icloud is

I thought the same thing, but this year Google starting selling their device in Sweden, so i bought one. Absolutely no problems so far, this is what their phones should have been from the very beginning (of pixel Series). android is just playing catch up with iphone though because of the tight partnership with tsmc. They're a generation ahead in CPU. And the iphones camera is getting back into the god tier category. So IMO if you get samsung you're getting basically the same phone. If you wait for iphone 15 there's a higher chance you actually get something that has improved a lot because the 14 was super sidegrade. I'm not even an iphone fanboy, i had sony for a long time, oneplus 2/3/6 the last many years and now i have a 13 pro which is my first iphone.

I'll make it easier as I have used both. Samsung - if you are kind of a explorer. You dont want to bound in one ecosystem. - repairs are a little cheaper. I say a little. - If you dont give a damn about other people. - Mod apps/custom roms - if you have a windows PC. - customization of the phone itself. Iphone - you have money. Not to judt buy the phone, but other services too - good ecosystem, if you buy other apple products. - if you dont like complicated stuff. Kudos to ipone to make it easy to use - if you're into recording video. Claims are samsung s23 has improved it a lot but I would wait for genuine reviews. Photos are more or less same in both. I have s21 and it is a little behind in video department. Not too much though. It's enough fot my use. - Status symbol Hope this helps.

I switched from Android to Apple about 8/9 years ago, and I don't think I will ever go back. In my opinion, iPhones are just far more user friendly, have a nicer looking UI, and you can also download a lot more apps than what you can on Android phones. The only thing that other phones have that are better than iPhones, is better battery life. At the end of the day though, just go with what you prefer, this is just my opinion

idk about the regular models but the pro max have crazy battery life due to being able to fit a larger capacity battery thanks to the size of the phone

Yeah I was thinking of getting the pro max, but they're just a bit too big for me tbh, if I'm gonna have a phone that big I might as well just have an iPad mini hahah

I worked at a call center for a phone company years back. About 98% of the calls for phones not working we’re androids. Battery issues, screen black, etc. Most calls for iPhones were how to setup business email, stuff like that, or a dumb person dropped their phone cracking the screen. I’m sure android phone quality has gotten better, but I’ll stick to iPhone. If I was going to get an android, I’d buy the cheapest one they have.

People try to say “with android you can do so much more with your phone” or “iPhones are locked down”. All I need is my phone to work so I can text/call, the apps to not crash, or have some random app being malware, and I don’t have to worry about that with iPhone

Yeah exactly. I've heard people say that the Android software is open source so you can do what you want with it (I think)? Bro idgaf, not everyone is your average tech wiz that knows everything about coding and shit lmao
2023-02-03 12:31
Thats expected, there is 150 brands that use android and only one for ios, issues are always gonna be more for android

bro you missed the point american dude said that he got more phone calls about android phones with problems, which is normal because as #114 said, there are more phones with android than the other way around (with iOS - apple) huawei, xiaomi, samsung, oneplus, oppo, google pixel,... meanwhile iOS is just apple

ios perfectly optimized for iphones and also have their own processor and everything works butter smooth meanwhile androids have to optimize the version they get from google and also they’re using 3rd party processors from qualcomm etc also huawei not android anymore xdd but yea bro missed the point completely

and I just added that in top of that apple only makes premium phones while over half of the android phones are low to mid budget. Obviously there is also more android phones than IOS. Also everyone knows IOS is just apple.

because cheap phones have overall worse software and they also lose support earlier than flagships. Limited software support also means more bugs. So the whole conversation is dumb. Of course if you buy 10 000e volkswagen it's going to run in to more problems than 50 000e mercedes.

not really man, you can buy a 50k car that will go into service 3 times a year but the 10k one will run for years with minimal issues, thats not really how it works

Are you serious? Just like you can buy 1000e phone that runs in to problems faster than the 200e phone. But most likely the other way around just like in cars.

Honestly i can barerly see a difference between the iphones. All the difference is where the camera lense is lmao Iphone and Apple scam people with brand new overpriced bullshit and people keep falling for it lmao. All Iphones are almost identical, meanwhile Samsung out here creating flip smart phones with multiple screens for multi-use all in the size of a regular phone.

2023-02-03 14:51
the iphone 14 is also really good the thing about iphones is that you shouldnt look at numbers, for example their camera might have less mp, or their battery might be smaller, but in reality because of the software its pretty much tied with the s23 ultra so basically you can go for the s23 since its newer, or the 14 pro max since it will run much better, i think google is the only company that can compete with apple when it comes to the actual speed or smoothness of the phone.

Personally, Android is the best choice, but i still love Iphone, smooth, near perfect in terms of OS, android better in many ways, always step ahead in terms of new features, but iphone make these features even better, they are just polished.

go for s23 ultra now that they finally all have the snapdragon, don't go below 256gb tho if they had exynos i'd say just run away as far as possible
2023-02-05 01:33
Don't care about top tier stuff, just have to replace mine at some point. My *Huawei P10 is all scratched up, messed up display shield and have cracked top edge. Have issues with mic and audio while driving. Decreasing battery life, battery will hold out max 3-4 days with barely using it. Looking for cheap one, but with decent camera. Below 200 euros, I see no point in spending more. So far it seems I better look forward to those phones entering market in future, and grab whichever seems to be good deal: Samsung Galaxy A14 5g Realme 10s *edit: wrong firm
2023-02-05 01:44
Come on, be honest here. You know for a fact that the only reason you may find to actually pick an iphone over a top android, is that you want to avoid being seen as poor by apple cult members, so go for it. You have already made your mind, you do not need an excuse for it!
