So to qualify for IEM Katowice Furia will have had to beat Permitta who i've never even heard of and then IHC who are like tier 500 and this is after they lost a BO3 to BIG on LAN! That in itself should have been an immediate elimination but no give them another chance against more no namers.

Sometimes you get a good draw, sometimes you don't Even a "good draw" can backfire.

No, Furia should ask an another draw : " I don't like this opponent, I want fnatic instead". "10:30, it is too late, I want the 6:30 match-ups, please".

Bruh Astralis is ranked below Nouns, ATK and 00nation. That is even worse than HLTV

Well yeah the ESL ranking has a reputation of being pretty shit but also Astralis could've prevented this by just playing more shitcups since they knew that their play-in slot was on the line

Playing shit cups is a dangerous game though. Random online matches never favour the big teams but they still count a lot. Do they count others events than esl events in the ranking? Great to see that pain got the slot though so they can speedrun last place.

You don't lose points from losing in shitcups, you can only gain points. At least that's how the hltv ranking works, not sure about the ESL one. Regardless, it was the only chance for Astralis to qualify since not doing anything wouldn't have been enough either. And that's what Astralis tried to do, they played these CCT tournaments in late 2022 but they fumbled some games there and it ended up not quite being enough. Their roster moves cost them a lot of points as well sadly, which is unfortunate. They were basically running at 60% of their potential points

I did not know that. If you loose a game against random tier 3 team that doesn't cost you any points? Also yeah i watched a couple of the games including when they lost to CPH Flames. But it didn't even matter. Even if they won both CCT i believe PAIN would still have qualified because they won a CCT and got 2nd in cash cup Also yeah obviously stupid system.

Not on hltv anyways, the team you lose to will gain points so you might lose in the direct comparison, but compared to everyone else, losing does not lose points. That's why EG was inflated in the ranking for so long despite them bombing out last place every tournament(they didn't even play those NA cash cups at the time), just the participation alone gained them points on hltv and then occasionally winning a map gives points even if you lose the series. Dunno about that last point, they made it a big deal after Astralis lost in these CCT's that now they missed the slot so I think it would've been open for them had they won, but I don't know for sure.

That's also just because C9 haven't been playing much recently though as they aren't a blast partner. (Same for Furia) I guess it's just the rio major that makes the difference

Yeah, as you said "Same for furia". Both teams rankings are already been damaged because of the lack of matches, so it evens out beetween the two.

2023-02-03 15:23
who cares, it is a play-in stage. You are not meant to play g2 and vitality in there
2023-02-03 15:16
and? there is always at least one team with bracket like that
2023-02-03 15:17
Its because of their seed It was the number 1 at play in

if they win they deserve it i mean, it is what it is, now aside of that am i the only who prefer the format where the teams with 3 victories pass, because like that would be more fair no? teams 0-2 playing agaist teams 0-2 and games like furia ihc wouldt happen, and that would be better for teams that come from asia or oceania

Eh, I don't think it's that big of a problem because they are a top 10 team who obviously belong in katowice. Facing permitta and ihc would've been a problem if the team someone like eg or mibr

IHC is team that has been so fking consistent last year I mean they attend both majors last year and also they are gonna attend many LAN events this year like PR LEAGUE or IEM BRAZIL so I would not call them nonamers.
