Grim as a star player in Liquid would be insane

Nah liquid wasn't using him right, thats why he improved so much when he joined COL, im actually really happy for him as a TL fan.

Well yes that’s kind of my point, but if Liquid would use him right(in place of a struggling Elige for example) he could genuinely be a Top 20 player

I understand Liquid didn't put him in the best positions and best roles when he was still in Triumph and without much tier 1 experience and younger, but now he seems much more experienced and is putting good numbers against tier S teams, if I was a fan of Liquid wouldn't mind seeing him in Elige's place

If he plays like this for the entire major cycle I'd be on board with that. But in a vacuum right now I'm still not swapping them yet. It's just a matter of track record. Grim is very likely the future but Elige is still 25 and he's one of the hardest workers in this game. If any old(ish) player could get it back it's him.

I like Elige, but I feel he is not the same as he was 3-5 years ago, despite his age (25, still young). But well, it's also disconnected to imagine him outside of Liquid, even because he has a 'society' with the owners of Liquid.

He's definitely not but I don't think they actually expect him to be.

For Liquid to win Tier S trophies they need Elige at least 80% of his peak form, he is not performing even 30% of what he is used to, I'm calm in saying that today Naf is better than him

Yeah I mean I think he's basically at 80%. He was also ranked higher then NAF in the top 30 last year but I'd say it's a push overall between them. Reality is neither as good as they were. But that's why they signed Yekindar. Specifically to take Elige's roles. I don't see players like Magisk or Dupreeh get nearly as much criticism as Elige despite similar career trajectories.
2023-02-04 06:26
1 reply
Dupreeh and Magisk are not charged as much because they don't have some privileged roles like Elige has (and Dupreeh is older), and about the Top 30 of HLTV, by eye test I don't agree with NAF being lower than Elige, but I believe it's because of fact that Elige has 'bigger peaks' during the year, while NAF remains more consistent but with smaller peaks

He's always delivered in star player roles, Liquid didn't make him work under their scheme which makes me wonder how he could've done if he was given the same room he's having on coL. I know Triumph was nowhere near the elite teams in NA but he was already seen as one of NA's best riflers even back then, just to put it into perspective. One of the absolute best aimers in North America right now, if not the best.

Ok it's fair to say he's gotten better but the feeling I got from most comments here is that people are shocked he's putting numbers, almost as if they had only known him since Liquid. It's fine since it's a tier 1 team and it's been a couple of years, but still for those who didn't get to watch him play before Liquid, he was already a delivering star player in his region. Feel like people gotta know that before shockingly assuming he's just a Liquid reject supposed not to be a sick fragger. I may be a little biased because of this game: hltv.org/matches/2342495/triumph-vs-mibr.. and you can tell by my flair that I watched the full series and he was just absurd in all the maps, career-best BO3 for him I guess, but still

His skill ceiling was always huge but now he seems more consistent. Yeah in liquid he was just burned by the team as the tier1 rookie, impressive to see him comeback tbh. Usually a career killer.

Yeah for that one you'll need mental fortitude. It's always good to see someone crawl back after a bad stint in such a big team. sdy is mirroring grim's case in Monte as well, pretty good player under different roles and you can tell he learned a lot in NAVI. Check him out :)

He was the best rifler in the world by a long shot during those 3 hours in overpass and dust 2 lol. Imagine watching those 2 maps while cheering for MIBR. Still don't know how "we" won that series and it was supposed to be a "free win" at the time for MIBR. If he had used 50% of his dust 2 power on the last 10 rounds of mirage MIBR loses it 100%.

Yeah I think he cooled off at the end of mirage or something, don't remember much. I was already amazed by his overpass and then dust2 was even crazier, legit one of the best carries ever on one map haha I speak some Portuguese and I watched gaules stream during the dust2 and he was laughing and in awe of grim too, couldn't even be mad. Amazing match. Lately he's been delivering some of that consistently against tougher teams yeah, he just has an explosive style that's awesome to watch, a bit feast of famine but when he's hitting everything it's beautiful.

I am portuguese and I can add to it that after that game there was zero bad blood or toxicity from any brazilian broadcast or the fans in general. Brazilians were commenting positive stuff on his tweets for a long time after that series.

He was always insane, but when this COL was first formed his utility usage was atrocious, which was what stew called out along with his work ethic.

12-17 right this SECOND. No seriously. If you aren't convinced by his stats download an inferno demo and watch him work. He's a really good aggresive rifler. Exactly the kind of player you want to build around. Now Col still sucks but if they could get floppy or fang to step up maybe they could make playoffs in one of these events. Who knows.

Floppy has had a ton of moments but they are all from before he went to valorant. youtube.com/watch?v=S-Djw68MhqQ

this is the first event fang has been consistent, before it was just the grim and floppy show and a very rare showing from fang. I dont know if its role changes or what but floppy has been playing like doodoo lately and if he can reach the same level of consistency that fang has had at this tournament col could be looking at top 4 finishes. but until then theyll continue to be a roll of the dice for what form they're in

Floppy lost a little shine since this new iteration of the roster, hope he picks up. This was a guy that was sold as the anchoring successor to NAF, so hate to see this from him

It's not about ending up on the top 20, it's just about rn, CoL players hardly made Top 20 HLTV

mans judging grim of 2 qualifiers wait till after the major and we can decide whetehr grim is good enough for top 20, so far he looks to be but he must peform at the big events and infront of a crowd if they even get to playoffs
2023-02-04 06:34
If CoL makes a few playoffs this year and Grim keeps playing super well, he could maybe get top 20 Think about Frozen in 2022 as an example. Mouz didn't win anything but did make a few strong runs, and Frozen's rating was nuts every time. (They basically did well in Cologne and the Major... can't think of anything else notable ATM) Or if CoL somehow won one event and Grim got MVP, that'd increase the likelihood a lot (but let's be real, there's almost no chance this occurs)

As much as I like the guys on CoL (they seem to have a really good vibe), I agree. They'd either need Floppy and FaNg to start playing considerably better/more consistent, and/or make a roster change.
