G2's new found form.
Xyp9x |
United States GODxyp9x
what do you think about the idea that G2 is able to perform at a high level because there is no coach to force them to play how he wants. without a coach they have total freedom to split the map however they like and everyone playing spots they feel comfortable in.

It’s called a fluke thanks to not being good enough to attend major they got to study every other team while they couldnt study them. /closed

Based on many people, faze's fluke lasted 6 months. So it can be, why not? If dominating the first half of a year isnt enough for a team to not be called fluke.

When liquid won against g2 after the major, yekindar said they expected g2 to change massively but no it was the same g2 as before. G2 haven't changed much to analyse other teams they just have better cohesion.

Tbf i am scared of G2 gonna losing one bo3 and starting to suck and losing confidence Remember they were 10-0 and 71 round difference in EPL groups with same group as Faze/Outsiders but then choked vs us then literally disappear vs t2 teams in rmr just after EPL
2023-02-07 23:59
Idk I think Xqtzzz is a good coach but he seems to have a pretty strong idea on how to play. Niko and hunter are both known as smart players, and Hooxi is igl so of course he has ideas. Maybe there was just too many ideas?

But after EPL, they couldn't qualify for the major nor played well in Spring finals. So I don't think that G2 was "constantly" doing well before Worlds. I'd say that bcz jks has been constantly playing well(since Worlds), G2 started winning.

They reached semis for spring final? Apart from major they qualified blast groups, reached semis EPL with 10-0 in groups and reached semis Spring Final. Ofc Major is important but apart from that they have been doing well and had clearly potential before Worlds.

What i mean is that, G2, before Worlds, skipped the major so to say, and were only able to reach semifinals of spring losing to heroic(i think), while in EPL they lost to vitality. That's not the same G2 as of rn cause the way they used to play then, it was NiKo having to carry or m0nesy and needing other 2 to have a life-game while hooxi was constantly delivering >0.8 kd. Maybe the result itself could be seen well, but when you remember how bad G2 played, it wasnt the team playing well, it was more like specific players playing well.

as mentioned they are in the honeymoon. To stay at the top is harder than getting there. Their tactics are going to be analysed by all the top teams, to the point where they will have to mix up all their current set ups to stay unpredictable. Staying motivated is also an issue. 2022 Faze looked promising and slipped a lot. Will G2 be different... by the end of 2023 will we know.

My theory is that NiKo realizes that he's at the tail end of his career so he decided to fully respect whatever igl he has on his team, he stopped trying to igl the team, probably isnt even second calling neither. This means that he can fully focus on fragging and Hooxi has actual real sovereignty over the team, at which point if every single one of them is performing at at least 70% of their full power, very few teams will be able to stop them.

2023-02-07 23:49
not a bad take. in the navi vs g2 nuke just now, niko was playing super smart on yard, getting a frag and falling back/rotating spot. I remember watching G2 games couple years back and he was super frag-hungry all the time, sometimes ending up pushing and dying after getting 1-2 frags, which would often anyway end up costing them the round. I think they're currently truly playing as a team and not as individuals
2023-02-07 23:56

2021 g2 situation was different, it was basically NiKo show and when that didn't happened g2 lost the round. He had to force every gunfights he could find and win them in order to have a chance to win a round. Still carried them to Major final l

Theyre playing very well but at the same time, all the other teams are just doing badly individually If you look at the top 10 rn, the only ones that seem in form are heroic, Outsiders are shakey, NaVi are playing 4v5, etc.

2023-02-08 05:48
This is how a real team works. Everyone has respect for eachother, they listen to eachother, they are given freedom and most of all they respect and trust the leader. In all interviews they say they have 100% confidence in hooxi and do whatever call he makes. Hooxi again is so humble there is no ego clashing with Niko. Everything just clicks, hooxi is doing great and the athmosphere is good. What more can you ask for. CS is not only about mechanic skill.

XQCZZZ was a malding king. Also I think it was ultimately a blessing in disguise to miss the major. You could see they wanted it so bad that it was not healthy anymore. It does not help to squeeze extra hard. They seem more relaxed now and they already hit rock bottom so no need to be afraid anymore. They experienced it already and know that life goes on.
2023-02-08 08:23
they will lose to heroic/outsiders/ence/col we in a new era and you guys arent even aware
2023-02-08 08:58
There are so many factors that have combined to make their current form happen. Not just 1 thing. You could say them not qualifying for major out a fire in them. A coach that lets them play their way. Hooxi finding his feet and figuring out how to use niko and m0nesy. M0nesy and niko combining better Jks performing well. Their overall team play and communication improving a lot. There tactics. Their momentum of wins. Their recent tier 1 event win giving them confidence.

This sums it up quite well. I'd especially emphasize the confidence factor plays a big role rn as hunter himself underlined very heavily in an interview yesterday but yea it seems like they've found the formula and that seems to affect everything listed here. I do think they play tactically much better but the biggest difference I see is their confidence in taking fights, especially NiKo plays with no fear and while he did try that previously as well, this time it works out his way and even if his plays doesn't work out, another guy steps in with equally much confidence, it was literally like NaVi got walked over in the way they played, no respect was given.

Navi were like a team of individuals doing stuff that then kind of worked out. G2 every move seemed like it had some kind of team work involved. A flash assist, a bait setup a double peek ya know they were just in tune with each other
2023-02-08 13:59
Swani is there to stay, but he's not a carreer coach, so he would give more freedom. HooXi was indeed the GIGACHAD, earlier, XTQZZZ was trying to contain his power.
