G2 are different
HooXi |
Denmark HooXi_Gigachad
I was a G2 fan for many years now, and this team is different. They have 4 "stars" in their perfect roles. And an IGL who honestly is calling the best CS I've ever seen since the Astralis 2018 days. And HooXi is stepping up as individual as well. Many people think that G2 are just outaiming everyone. But G2 is so much more. The teamplay, awareness, cohesion is just insane. You can spot so many perfectly executed strats and plays when rewatching a demo.
2023-02-08 11:07
Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
And I love how positive their atmosphere is. HooXi always laughing. NaVi in comparison are only toxic towards each other

this winstreak basically removed all doubt from the team's head that HooXi's calls are insane. Even if they drop a map or are behind in one, they'll be fine because they know they can come back and like Hunter- said, they're mature and have many years experience. The only thing that will tilt Niko is if Niko isnt playing well!

But as I said, enjoy the headshots on stream, I rather enjoy the beauty of the teamplay and little details. CS is for everyone and that is the beauty of it

Sure, team synergy/cohesion is a big part of it and "playing off of each other". But you can actually sometimes get away with just sick individuals outaiming the opposing team even with poor strats/teamplay. NaVi is probably the best example of that.
2023-02-08 14:55

2023-02-08 11:42
Very true, this is why me and my friends struggled to adapt to CSGO. We have all been good aimers for years in CS1.6, but the utility usage on CSGO is just another level and good teams will have you constantly blind with pop flashes.
2023-02-08 12:20

Yup we did'nt even Use smokes in 1. 6 since People had shit pcs some tournaments baned them. People would lag when you dropped them flash lineups what? Nade stacks? CSGO is so much more in depth and needs absoulte team play to make it work
2023-02-08 12:44

Yep exactly. I play an aim_redline server where some pros regularly jump on and aim-wise, it doesn't feel you can't compete with them (I know it's not exactly them trying their hardest). But the real skill is in teamplay, knowing the utility lineups and how to react to in game scenarios etc. I would say having a solid 5 lineup for as long as possible where you learn how each other plays and get synergy is better than slotting in a top aimer expecting it to work.
2023-02-08 13:33

There is so much more skill involved. I don't remember "flash dodgeing" to be a skill back then. I don't mean to sound Like a boomer but kids don't know how much raw aim used to be important, raw aim and wall Bang spots, now there is a milion skills, line ups, game sence, team play, possisioning, pivoting etc. Back then was... Rush b? Nah fake long Rush short gg

they do look at hunter just as one example yekindar watching nikos demos you just cant let igl watch demos only how are you gonna counterstrat other guys in your positions? Igl cant say to you oh he is gonna do this watchout for this etc on this level there is no cohesion no communication in that example. Of course sometimes it happens that igls realize what is opponent doing and telling to other players watch out for those plays

Great aim is the foundation upon which you can build a good teamplay. But without good teamplay your sharpest aim means shit. There are countless nuances thanks to which G2 players look so clean and fresh. They literally have practiced the timings of checking corners together, so they know which position is watched and which position they have to cover, without hesitation. And that's also part of "tactics". Please, your take on strats is just so shallow...
2023-02-08 13:56

yes that why teams say “we just didnt hit our shots” when they lose instead of overthinking strats 24/7

Did you even read my response? Aim is the foundation. Of course no team can execute strats if they can't hit their shots. The strats have to, at some point, involve killing your enemies - otherwise they won't work. So when teams have good strats, but lack the foundation, the strats don't work, but it doesn't mean the strats are bad - it just means they didn't hit their shots. But when you take a stratless team that is hitting their shots, and a team that has very big stratbook AND hits their shots on top of that, like G2 does right now, then the latter will always win against the former. Because, in the end, in top tier counter-strike competition, when both teams hit their shots, the team with better strats will win. Of course sometimes a miraculous clutch happens and beats a strategy... but that's the beauty of counter strike. And most of the time, the miraculous play doesn't happen specifically because of strategies that prevent it to happen. If you don't understand how complex and nuanced this all is, then please, do not talk about it, making it look so shallow and easy, because it's not.
2023-02-08 14:09
dupreeh said on interview that what separates a good pro from a bad one is everything except aim. GOATs have that little extra mechanical ability that gets them over the rest but apart from that, where everyone is aiming just as good, good strats and comms will win over bad ones 8/10 times

Everything is going right at the moment. Maybe 4 stars is correct statement. Best calling since 2018 is just delusional. And yes, while their strats look better than maybe ever, they are still winning by outaiming everyone. Their calling is at best as good as others have. And worse than truly good tactical teams like Heroic and Outsiders.

HooXi top 5 player 2023
2023-02-08 12:48
This G2 looks really impressive and actually reminds me a lot of Faze 2022, both got 4 stars (rain first season of last year was good), good calling and probably the most importantly both teams are winning unbelievable amount of late round disadvantage situations. All the time when G2 is in some 2v4, 3v4 or other late round situation they seem to make the right read and get the necessary kills. This match & map win streak will obviously have to stop at some point so will be interesting to see how it affects them since they were also on a 10 map win streak in EPL but once they lost in playoffs they even lost out of the major and lost all confidence. Also the map win streak might be a bit misleading since this year they have played 6 bo3s and out of those 3 were against Navi and 2 against BIG so they haven't had to play against many different teams. They have also played almost exclusively only Nuke & Inferno and we don't have much data on their other maps so if they get to the final it will be interesting to see how they will manage a bo5.

my only concern for G2 is their map pool, they have been playing nuke inferno and the other maps were much less or haven't played by them. Though map pool is a problem for a lot of teams right now i would say they need to prove themselves in some of those maps to keep their win streak.

they have the best map pool atm the only map they are really yet to be tested at is vertigo and its not that big of an issue since there's not a single top team that has vertigo as their main pick/strongest map, heroics vertigo used to be solid but they didn't pick it at kato against g2 not even a 2nd pick which makes me wonder how strong their vertigo really is
