You don't want to know how much car insurance is in Germany... However, here it heavily depends on the car you're driving, on how long you have your licence and for how long you have not been involved in an accident. For older people that have gone a long time without an accident, insurance is not too costly. When I still had a car (it was Mini) I paid 400 € for 2 months, since I had to insure it myself and I was only driving for like half a year ore something.

Nah, brah, I did not. As I said, I was 18 and only had my licence for like half a year. Also for whatever reason Minis are relatively expensive insurance wise. I compared prices online and seriously 400,- € was the best I could find. But the costs of having a car just suck, which is why I am happy I dont have one anymore. I obviously dont need one. I live in a city so public transport is okayish (worst than the city i used to live previously, compared to most other citys it is rather good, I think)

Jesus insurance is such a scam.
2023-02-08 17:30
in the netherlands you pay road tax every month depends on the car but i have a diesel 160,-a month. then insurance 100,- just ridic.
2023-02-08 18:17
When I got my drivers license at 18 y/o my insurance was 163 EUR/month And I drive a 20 years old Focus, so it's not because of the value of the car xD
2023-02-08 18:40
I think you should ask your dad how much it actually is before commenting, no?
2023-02-09 09:03
Maybe it's not the required insurance he pays 50 a month
2023-02-10 09:15
450e rent and 400e food? damn, in croatia, rent is 450 for one bedroom apt that's like far away from centre. also, no way i spend only 400e on food

yes but in here for 450 you get something like this size but in shit location and on the outskirts of the city well i try to cook with me and my gf at least on the weekend and once during the week. if i have more work i order, and for dinner just cook something small easy, don't like to eat too much for dinner. i can't go less than 500e a month

i eat croissant in the morning at work and i play games on my work computer. But i work for a company that develops and manufactures electrical systems as well as devices and equipment for the aerospace, defence, transportation and security sectors For me its the military radiocommunication sector, i work with electronic engineer, devs and mechanical engineers I study the requests of the Directorate General of Armaments (A large document of 200 pages with technical data etc) for example electrical bays which are connected to antennas, or electrical systems in bunkers In general, these are projects that last a year or several months. For my part, I carry out the electrical dimensioning, the choice of components, it's long because I have to adapt to other areas and therefore it still requires a minimum of teamwork, therefore also a lot of meetings. I do the electrical calculations to choose the transformers, motors, and tons tons of other stuff.. I make the diagrams which must be in accordance with the electronic part, also the financial aspect but thats the easiest part That said, I like going to the lab to work with the technicians. So yeah nothing really complicated, it's just creation from A to Z because everything is homemade.

Nice one sir, i am also trying to switch my field from electrical to electronic side. Pure electrical doesn't pay me well in India. Thank you for your valuable time
2023-02-10 08:40
2 replies
Thank you, this field is also interesting i kind of work in both but way more in electrical than electronic. If you got the chance don't even hesitate to go to another country, for example in France we have less and less "experts" because student just want their diploma and a good salary.. i feel like they are less interested in those technical stuff compared to the older generation. North Africans student are excellent when it comes to technical areas and they often come to France (or other countries) to work, so if you can, you should move after getting some experience. Try to find a company that works also outside india and ask for a mutation when you have enough experience, i hope it will work for you, good luck!

Sheesh! Well from the other siv.ing's (master of engineering) i've talked to, they said a normal week was about 50-60 hours of work including lab, lecture and ''homework''. - I am most likely applying for an integrated master aswell. (5 years) How many years is it in france?
2023-02-09 11:08
1 reply
In France its 5 years after highschool but your path can be very different from one to another. You can join a school that takes you directly to 5 years, after a competition in general or with your high school grades if you are good enough you go before a jury for your motivations etc (It's really the easiest way to get in) "the elite" will complete 2 years in a preparatory class (which was invented during the Napoleonic era) - where you suffer like a dog for 2 years doing very advanced mathematics and physics. Waking up at 6am, you are already barely starting to open your books in your bed, you have lessons from 8am to 6pm, and once at home you revise until 10/11pm. All this for 2 years, and of course you also work during your holidays. So yes it's suffering but you can access prestigious competitions like l'X (Polytechnique) Centrale Supelec, Ecole des Ponts etc. These schools are the best in France and you very generally end up in a very big company, or you go internationally because these schools have a lot of contacts outside France. Here is an example if you want to integrate one of these: concours-centrale-supelec.fr/CentraleSup.. or in pdf directly concours-centrale-supelec.fr/CentraleSup.. This is an example of a competition that you have to do 2 years after high school. After that, you do a 3-year cycle in engineering in your school where you were selected (if you succeeded of course, without forgetting the famous orals which mentally destroy more than one..) During these 3 years you will still work but less than in the preparatory class. For me, I was also around 50/60 hours a week.. but we need engineers in these fields! these are very interesting fields and where you can work anywhere in the world !!! sorry for the long ass text

Everybody has healthcare in Spain ir you're from there and same for EU, if you go from outside, you'll need a work and ask for the papers but you don't need any good company because it's public healthcare. Average teacher starts on 1800€ moreless and you get more depending on where or how many years you are working, at least in the public side.

Try landing a job in one of the scandinavian countries if possible. Norway might be the hardest to get in, but landing a job there will set your for life =)

I've been considering scandinavia as my work place since i was 14 or 15 and started understanding about laboral conditions (even said i pref to work in Scandinavia as waiter than spain as engineer). And I can prob get a job anywhere I want with some luck because field (engineering, mining/energies, which is global, and also quite broad because maths+physics+many other things useful in many fields like materials, construction, industry...) Basically my options are, in order: Scandinavia>Germany/Holland>Australia>South America>Spain. It'd be ideal to work some years out, get money and then come back to spain to a public job (college teacher, meteorology or whatever). But, honestly, you never know how life will go. Many things can happen and go wrong (or well)

I pretty much have the same, 50m² apartment 2 rooms but its 411€ (with parking you can add up 30€) in a small "town" 30mn away from Paris, with a train nearby I should check the prices in finland i thought you had higher prices than this

Well, the rent is actually 630e but I pay half of it so its 315e for me. Also forgot to mention parking. Its 15e/month. Rents are a lot higher in Helsinki, Espoo and Tampere than here where I live. I know a dude who pays more than 800e/month for 20m² apartment in Helsinki. And I know a couple that pays 1200e/month for 50m² apartment in Helsinki.

-Depends on the month. -EU (various countries, in January alone I've worked in France, Bulgaria, Spain, Romania, Slovenia, Belgium, Italy, in December the same, but also Netherlands, now in February I've had Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Italy). -Consultant. -Spending is rent, utilities, and groceries, and the occasional additional expenditure (like a book or game), everything else is paid for by my employer. -Savings depend on the month, most of what remains goes into my personal retirement savings plan, besides that I usually keep just under a thousand euro to maybe buy a house at some point, obviously, that'll take a while.
2023-02-08 20:25
2000€ net per month, Italy, urban planner/designer. I have 750€ that leave my account automatically every month (rent, energy bills, phone/internet, etc ...). Then I have like 300€ of groceries. I spend a lot in clothes (suits, shoes, etc ...) something like 300€/month. All the rest is for restaurants, parties, drinks with friends, etc ... And this month I'm buying a house to renovate (and sell next year) so I'll have ~300€/month to pay the bank loan.
2023-02-08 20:29
$3000+ / month (3k is a guaranteed profit, usually it's around $4k-$4.5k) Holding a currency exchange + twitch(just an experiment, but in a few months it should generate like $15k-20k) Poland / UK $500 rent+bills, $400 food/beer, no investments/savings as there's no reason for me to do so(untreatable health condition), so the rest goes to gambling and paying for useless stuff like relatives' debts, etc.

Rent is maybe not the right word. It is payment to building service and so. And I forgot include list property tax and a bit of interest on the outstanding morgage, so it is more like 450e instead of 200e.

2023-02-09 19:58

Sounds good.39m2 isn't huge, but still a good size and being in the city offers a lot. Many factors speaks for owning rather than renting. I was lucky to buy my apartment when prices was lower and I got a good deal also, since then it has really gone up in value and I also managed to pay of much of what I paid. Now I have a loan with 1% interest where I only pay the interest and don't pay down the loan, so this means inflation really handles that.

Consider putting some of those saving in stocks. You don't need big money to start investing and if you're doing something with the money then inflation just eats it.

Crypto - must have been fun, but also sort of a gamble. I see stocks as a way to invest that doesn't require me to put in a lot of hours, as opposed to say buying a house and renting it out your stocks don't require upkeep. However as with most investments one should only do so with cash one can afford to lose. I've done reasonably well and I am trying to not put all my chips into just one thing. Mostly I am into tech stocks, as I am trying to use what I know from the business to guide my investments.
