Chess has blown up in terms of popularity the last few years. I also started getting into it recently. Nice to see it is finally getting more popularity.

how is it entertaining to watch? at pro level you are pawn down and its game over unlike cs for example at 8;7 half game can go either way first 20-30 moves are book moves, solved end games etc, which part is entertaining here i dont get it

Chess is a game of memorising stuff, there’s nothing new to be invented. Also people are already hundreds of years behind computers in it, what’s the point? Almost as boring as golf

you can't memorize everything, not nowhere near close to even 4th of a game. When human players get put in very sharp situations. it's really fun to see them try to win those/playing them yourself. Just cause an AI is better than you at something, doesn't mean you cannot enjoy it

yeah obviously u cant memorize everything but whoever memorized more openings and endspiels has a significant upper edge over the opponent, so its pretty much a matter of knowing more

it was kinda cool before AIs got involved. Even GMs like Kasparov could miss easy moves, do blunders. AIs like Stockfish or Komodo Dragon don't miss shit and will destroy any human without breaking a sweat
