I feel like their map pool on a wider spectrum can't produce such dominance. They keep spamming Inferno + Nuke, especially when "coach of the year xd" keeps picking these against them. But have we really seen G2 dominate on other maps consistently? Anubis against BIG was kinda shaky, and sure they've mopped the floor with Faze on Ancient, but was that maybe just Faze being out of it? I mean Faze beat them confidently on Ancient once in BLAST.
They've beaten Liquid on Mirage in BLAST WF but that was a while ago..and also Liquid is not synonymous with consistency....
I like this G2 roster and enjoy this ride they're having, but I'm afraid for them in the playoffs, especially in a final, in a BO5 if they get there...

afaik no balkan player prefers to paly OVP. That do not mean they would suck at it but i can't remember when it wasn't permaban for G2 with niko, hunter and nexa in team

Maybe, I'm relatively new so can't remember but I was listening to some podcasts and Niko, Kassad, Ynk and Hunter told they dislike OVP a lot so probably that's why G2 continued to permaban it.
Nexa started to play in in OG tho

actually there was a whole period in 2020 where they were banning nuke/train because they were struggling a lot but it didn't seem to have helped

nuke was Liquid's permaban until blast groups, i am not entirely sure if they decided compeletely abandon vertigo, but it was their weakest map

Because Spirit's Nuke was bad. That's why they banned vertigo instead of nuke. But did they do it against Faze or Navi? No. If they face G2 it would be a huge mistake for them not to ban Nuke and the map would be lost without playing anyway the same goes for against Vitality. But Liquid is not a predictable team. At least they can say that we played Nuke in the tournament and let's play it.

I’m feeling a 3-1 against Heroic, I don’t see them being able to sweep like that against Heroic. Would be sick if they did though

the last time g2 played heroic was the fall finals '22 which they lost 2-1, that was their only match against heroic so far. tbf they werent in their peak form back then but the main thing will be calling against cadian, and i cant say with full confidence hooxi can read him like he can do with others. will say, if it does get to g2 vs heroic id still say g2, as much as i dislike them they are the team to beat right now.

apex gameplay balances it out, but his shitty calls actually swing it back into g2's favor
the only team that can beat them is themselves tbh. this team is playing the fundamentals to an unreal level + they play with confidence to make the plays to get an early advantage or getting back into rounds, absolutely crazy

Everyone, i.e. 5 teams they've played against during their hot streak: 3xBIG (tier3 recently), 2xFaZe (been awful) and 3x Navi (been shaky). Plus Vitality and Liquid.
They've done great for sure in the recent series, but lots to prove.
I dont think map pool was or is their weakness.
I think their problem was mk4s that lowered skill gap.
Jks, Niko and Hunter are absolute animals with mk4 and this gives them such a massive boost in performance.
Monesy is a beast with most guns and Hooxi seems to be improving as well not to mention that Jks was ass with mk4s and now much better with mk4.

Anubis and Ancient are surely winnable against them but no one else is good enough on there
Vertigo is a question Mark, if they get to the final they will have to play it aincient was solid and anubis was solid, overpas is their perma ban, Mirage used to be their home map and they Just need a few Crazy round from niko mid or Hunter window boost on T side to throw someone off their game and create gaps nuke and inf no need to comment. If they play Heroic in the final I'm guessing that the picks will go Like G2 - Overpas HE - Anubis G2 + Inf HE + Mirage G2 +Nuke HE + Vertigo and Ancient as a decider, unless HE are preparing anubis as a secret pick but I don't see that

G2 really do seem like unstoppable right now, but sure there are still some question marks about their map pool and how how they play against other teams. Sure they've won every series and map this year but keep in mind that they played BIG 2 times, Navi 3 times and once against Faze, so not that many different opponents either. To add to that they have only played once on Mirage (barely won 16-14 against BIG), once Anubis (again close game against BIG) and once Ancient which they comfortably beat Faze on. We still have very little data of G2 against different teams on different maps.
I honestly think G2 only playing a select amount of maps in the map pool is actually their greatest strength. God knows how many secret tricks and strategies they have stacked ready for a team. Teams can't counterstrat you if you've never shown any of your strats. Hooxi already said they have something special planned for mirage, which makes if you wonder if its the same case for the other maps

g2 rly good on 3 map, vertigo ancient overpass anubis is more random. They win some games in these too (not overpass, they permaban this), but the maps they lose recently also on these 3.
but yes they good on mirage inferno nuke

I'd say Ancient hasn't been their best map, that's probably it.
Vita got fucking shit on Vertigo, Apex got to nuclear meltdown mode after 5 rounds of being destroyed at ramp by Niko. From that point on it was 5v4 for G2.
Anubis is a weird map for everyone, mid is kinda ugly and I hope Volvo makes it so CT's can contest it. As is, it rather seems you can't.

But I find it a future weakness they will face, similarly to faze, when their momentum runs down along with confidence eventually and their firepower is not where it once was, they will face a wall and with a limited map pool and no longer having such brick blockades on every site no matter who it is there, people will start to abuse it. ATM they're riding a high, and especially on firepower and that won't last forever.
G2 look totally unstoppable to me right now.
Which makes me think they are gonna find a way to mess things up in pretty short order here.
