Heroic after scandal
Gambit getting used to LAN
G2 who always choked finals

A bit of both. They had s1mple in his best overall year ever(skill + mind), a rookie b1t who was still insanely unreadable because of how green he was, Boombl4 who could always keep the mood of the team in check(something they have sorely missed since he was kicked), elec being as consistent as ever, and Perfecto stepping up. They also had some insanely weak competition. They're still probably a top 5 team of all-time, tho. In Antwerp, even with a s1mple that was not at his absolute peak, they still made it to finals against some vastly improved rosters.

In antwerp there was more context to NaVi than just s1mple not having his best form. Their only bootcamp in that half of a year was before that major, before that they were absent from the server in officials since war started. Also antwerp was last boom tournament, which was probably known by the players as well. So even with all the problems they were still a very strong team which only was stoped by prime faze and a best in life series by rain. So I wouldn't agree with the statement that navi 2021 had weak oposition. That vitality team was much better as the current one as a team. And the changes in teams where caused probably by NaVi dominance that year
They had a handfull of games that were better than peak Astralis but not way near as consistent.

Yeah the mirage game stuck out to me, perfect CS with amazing firepower.
Weak competition but they were soooo much better than the other teams, didnt even lose a map in the major
easily the worst year of CS
navi was great no doubt but they were not nearly as good as the scores suggested

astralis beat good teams navi beat scrubs too cuz 2021 was awful
I mean with the context in mind, its pretty insane how good they were while everyone else were scrubs. They didnt loose a single map on LAN for around 6 months straight. Even if the game was new its still just beyond comprehension.

Perfecto is such a reliable player from start to finnish while Xyp only shined in clutches or when using bugs lol.
If we talk about Zonic, then i dont see his influence on apex calling at all.
Apex calling and whole structure is very predictable and exploitable since he became igl.

You know that they played a lot matches online? likely chances ho have higher ping and you can add tougher competition on top of that.
Use your eyes and you will see the difference.
P.S They won Blast spring couple of months after Boomich left.
Also you talk about 4 majors when Astralis beaten Navi with Zeus, Edward and Flamie, Ence Squad and Avangar. Navi would have wiped the floor with that teams like that like they did Original Astralis roster in 2020 Blast world finals like it was a walk in the park.

Omg are stupid? They won pro league cause Zywoo was cut above the rest! They didnt look tacticaly amazing or anything.
In blast spring and Cologne all of Navi were looking very good and championship could have gone either way, cause both teams were amazing in that Grand final.
Prime Astralis was very hard to antistrat while Vitality is extremely easy to antistrat hence im thinking that Zonic is overrated.

It means that Zonic brought nothing to the table.
If he was goat Coach he would see that problem in his team and work on that.
Vitality is always improved after the breaks or bootcamps, but they are good for 1 tournament and then they dont change anything and get destroyed.
They beaten Heroic in Blast groups, but got dominated in Kato!
This is down to being antistrated.
Zywoo cant save them all the time, they need to be less predictable like Boomich Navi, Prime Astralis and Heroic.
Zonic should highlight this Vitality issue and work on it, but i dont see any progress there.

Same Astralis were 50/50 matchup against flamie Navi while B1t Navi destroyed them on Blast world finals 2020.
Maybe rewatch that match and think that Navi got significantly better that year in 2nd half of the year.
Astralis had to beat Lulquid with no awper and taco, they beaten Navi and lost couple of times against Navi with Zeus, Edward and Flamie...
G2 of 2021, Gambit and Heroic was significantly better than those teams! Wake up.

S1mple's rating doesnt change the fact that: Even weaker Navi beaten OG Astralis roster.
You have to keep in mind that Navi in the same year was noticably better after the summer break hence im thinking that Navi>Astralis prime for prime.

Early 2021 was still online era, where gambit had their run. DId you even watch the tourney? Navi had 7 against no one, a g2 cousin show, vitality with tier 3 players like kyojin, NIP with young ninjas, astralis not even considerable. And remeber a lot of the events extra in 2018 were not even S-tier

Liquid with no awper and taco, Navi with Zeus, Flamie and Edward, Mibr with Tarik and Stewie, Mouz, Washed up Faze.
Navi of 2021, Gambit, Vp, Heroic or G2 would have wiped the floor with such teams.
Competition is getting stronger and stronger the longer the sport goes not to mention insane amount of tournaments in the past.
Its like double less tournaments now.

Also, just cause there aren't as many tournaments doesn't mean Astralis participated in all of them. I did the math a few days ago and 2018 Astralis played in about 2-3 more s-tier events than 2021 navi (according to liquipedia)

So, the honeymoon for them was a year then? They were still performing very well in Antwerp, they were legit. Without the war and Boombl4 being a dumbass, who knows how many more wins they would have gotten.
If people think 2021 NAVI was a fluke are just pure haters and let me explain you why.
2022 started and they lost their IGL and war started yet NAVI still was at the top of ladder alongside FAZE how is that a fluke ? if war didn t happened and NAVI stick togheter im pretty sure all year wouldve been only FAZE and NAVI grandfinals or maybe not cuz FAZE slowed down in the 2nd part of th year.
But don t come here and tell me 2021 had a weak competition when NAVI couldve dominated 2022 as well if war and removing IGL didn t happened. Maybe not that hard as 2021 but still ahead of the competition.

If we are talking about Stockholm major specifically, I do agree that the opposition was slightly worse than usually in majors. However that was not the only tournament Navi won.
Every team went to international and crazy roster moves just to compete with Navi and they lost their momentum after war still they comback and be consistent top 4...even in bad form they made semifinals in kato and teams like g2 faze in bad form couldn't not even pass group stages at major

It wasn't. Just 2 months before that Kato, they won the last big tournament of 2021 - the Blast World Final. Yes, they were shaky at that year's Spring qualifiers, but they looked like they were in good form again in Kato. Then, the war happened. The rest is history.

I'm glad I got into eSports and CS in that era. Was extremely boring yet very awesome to watch. I wish s1mple had a better support back then, though. If Edward wasn't such a bot, we might have gotten one of the best rivalries in CS history
