Still not convinced

G2 are really good but HooXi still average / mid igl, getting carried by super star performance by other teammates to win rounds Also other teams are in trash form, none in shape like in 2022 or 2021, only team close is Heroic Though I give credit to G2 as all other players are really hot rn and are playing out of their minds

NiP was farming in 2012 and 2013 when the game just launched against bots 2013 NiP would have no chance against even T2 2023 CS

21 maps in a row is still insane lol
2023-02-12 21:19
they are actually 2nd now in most maps won in a row, only one above them is the nip 87-0 which will never be broken

Gonna be a stale year of cs if other tournaments turn out like this one

Some of the other matches were good. Perhaps just ban G2 for being too good
2023-02-12 21:12
Same as boombl4 was. Team chemistry is the answer, G2 didn't have it with aleksibot, NaVi still doesn't have it with elec on igl.

That wasnt even the real issue, XTQZZZ was. G2 was dogshit for as long as XTQZZZ was there, even with jks.

I like how everyone just ignore XTQZZ. I even said in a thread months before. G2 doesn't need strict coach who would restrict these players. Same as Faze, Robban isn't pure coach. He is more like a help for Karrigan. Now Swani is that guy for G2.

I called him out as the problem long time ago when this lineup was still shit and hey look what happened, the moment they got rid of him they improved massively.
2023-02-12 21:26

Still he is the one who knew that HooXi + jks was the team needed, the players just didn't believe XTQZZZ and they now are confident while playing on the system XTQZZZ implemented, he wasn't the problem, the problem was confidence. Now i'll join you in one point, they don't necessary need a coach like XTQZZZ, even himself said it, Swanii is fine because the players can do the things by themselves and just need someone who can say was is needed behind them. Happy for Swanii, deserved. But don't spit on XTQZZZ since he wasn't the problem.

You have good point as well. That proves XTQZZ is good at scouting what team needs.

Exactly, I also must add that G2 wanted to keep him but he took the blame on him and left ( + he wanted some time for his personal life with his wife and kids ). That's why you shouldn't spit on XTQZZZ for any of the reasons against him upper here.
2023-02-12 22:23
wait a minute, I think you're right it does make sense they're pretty similar playing style with faze too

No one ignores that. But it seems people just forget really fast that jks was awful for almost a year in G2 under aleksiB and that wasn't aleksi's problem. If it is hard for a team to follow a coach and igl's calls and structure then that's on the team and not ONLY on the Igl and coach. Hooxi isn't calling anything impressive either, it is the individuals which are popping off. A really good caller is someone like CadiaN, or KarrigaN who had bymas in his team yet made Mouz a top 2 team. But put whoever you like and G2 will still perform if they have Hunter and jks playing as well as this event. Now the coach is different already, dunno how xqtzz is, but he made vitality top 5 team with zywoo having to solo carry. So I dunno how much is on the roster changes and how much in the individuals remembering how to click heads.

I dont know. Hooxi feels like Karrigan-esque IGL. He might have trash numbers but he makes rest of the 4 Peak higher than they can. Copenhagen Flames and G2 are both testament to his ability as leader.
2023-02-12 21:09
Nah man get outta here there is no time for weak baits right now
2023-02-12 21:10
nahh, he is probed he is a decent IGL and has dragged a lot more. G2 aren't about one man, they're as a team on another level

Shit take. When Navi won major the only good team that kept it competitive was G2. When faze was winning the beginning of the year no one was good at the moment besides navi. Faze has been the only one with the same roster and they just lost motivation. Liquid and every team that beat them is because they leveled up.
2023-02-12 21:12
+1 they won two events now which is great. I’m Just hoping they keep the great form to the major, since thats where everyone is with their a game

they look really good right now, but I have my doubts about them continue to pull off 1.3 ratings consistently, I believe it won't last that long, but I'd be glad to be proven wrong. time will tell :)

Facts are HooXi joined G2 and then they started winning almost instantly. (including grand finals).
2023-02-12 21:31
The guy doesn't really have to frag with the other 4 players in the team. It's not even mathematically possible for everyone to have great stats
2023-02-12 21:33
he made Niko's allures stop and made a team work that used to not work, so I consider him an successful IGL
2023-02-12 21:34
Got lucky, easy run, teams suck now, not real tournament, other teams adjusting rosters. Such and such had a bad day. Can you add some more to the collection. You can apply this logic to any team winning anything. The difference is your bias.

It's like saying the navi major doesn't count because every team sucked. No, they were just miles ahead and made it look easy
2023-02-12 21:43
They fully deserved it there are no excuses but it's kind of true that some teams are not their usual self. But like I repeat it's no valid excuse, since like you pointed out, we never really had a tournament where every team is on point.

2023-02-13 11:05
Heroic is in trash form? Liquid? Even faze not at their peak are a strong opponent. Hooxi is a great fucking igl, actually comparable to how karrigan is calling. He can still contribute enough and not be a liability, he was 1.30 rating on ancient He created a great system in game, and is the most selfless player in Tier 1 counterstrike. He's playing shit positions, shit weapons, is willing to be used as a bait if it helps them win What else do you want from him

Well, you have to give the igl credit that he makes his superstar players play like superstars. Under aleksibot everyone played worse. A good leader brings the best out of the team.

feels like all teams are in shape atm (except NaVi), so I dont agree. Hooxi mid-igl? he's not just an in game leader, he's a leader, getting the most out of all his players. I'd say that is top level leadership!
2023-02-12 23:10
Disagree about hooxi, agree that the scene is not in form now.
2023-02-12 23:14
this take is ass, NiKo was not up to his usual level in the finals and G2 still won 3-1, whilst individual heroics may have made the difference in some rounds, this was in the end a team effort by G2
