why was the viewership lower than last year if cs is supposedly booming in players because of the pro play, seems weird to see and i hope the major will break records

Well there can be 1.250.000 concurrent players but if FaZe, NaVi and G2 for example get eliminated that tournament will have low viewership

that sort of stuff tells a tournament organizer to never hold any tournaments in brazil though. it means the moment gaules and by extension his sycophant army isn't interested in a match, the venue is empty.

I think the main difference is that last year's Katowice had so many interesting storylines and this one didn't really have any outside of G2 continuing their unbeatable form.
Last year you had Faze with Ropz, G2 with M0nesy, Navi coping with the war(a sad storyline but still one that would make people follow) and G2,Faze, Navi all making top 4.
If this trend continues then yeah it's worrying but last year was a perfect storm in terms of viewership, this one is more down to average in my opinion

every year theres always the "is csgo dying" posts for a tournament with a little less viewers and then later viewership peaks, its an ebb and flow lol
if you watched major, you knew heroic will choke this one so that might be why people didn't watch it. If it was g2 - navi final easily 1m+

The G2 Navi factor speaks for itself; the group stage game with the highest viewership was G2 vs Navi, even though it was a blowout. Yet people will still tune in to see these two teams duke it out specifically because of the long rivalry they share.

the Kato final of 2020 was the first non-major final to breach a million views if I remember correctly (even though it ended insanely quickly as G2 lost 0-3). Since then they have faced each other in 2 more finals as well as in a lot of other matches. Navi kept on beating G2 by a close margin in 2021, and Kato 2022 was the first time that G2 beat Navi, where they nearly reached a million viewers in the semifinals, despite it being a 2-0 G2 stomp. The s1mple Niko factor cannot be disputed, but these teams have had high viewerships when facing each other since before Niko joined
also the highest viewership match outside of the playoffs in kato 23 was g2 vs navi
Viewership has gone down since the russian-ukraine war. Earlier ru stream used to have 80 percent viewership of english stream without russian teams and if navi playing then more than the english stream. Now because of ukraine propaganda on RU stream, people have stopped watching that and the viewership now is that. When Navi plays, the RU stream get 50percent of english viewership

every esports are going down in viewership thats just how it is now , ofcourse if faze and furia been in playoffs it would been a little bit better but wouldn't get to last years viewership.
And comparing to last year when every team made changes and there was much hype behind it ,where this season basically nobody made any changes so no much hype as well.

? this is about vieweship, not performance. I''m merely stating facts. Fans want to see the team they root for play in the big arenas, and given that NaVi and FaZe are some of the most popular esports org, them getting knocked out early just means that fans are less likely to tune in to watch since the team they are rooting for is eliminated

FaZe is one of the most followed esports org worldwide, and they have a massive fan base, NaVi garnered a lot of viewers because of the ukraine war. I'm not talking about how good the org is, im talking about how popular the orgs are, and FaZe and NaVi are def quite popular orgs

~400k for Grand final (35%)
The tournament was earlier than last year and the storylines were worse. And covid was still somewhat a thing year ago. But still, the difference is much bigger than I expected.
Most players don't watch CS. It's a very complex and boring game to watch if you don't understand the depth of the game, economy, etc

Maybe ppl dont enjoy watching it that much because of how the game developed. There is so much more saving, slow rounds, pretty deep moves and strats nowadays compared to lets say 3-5 years ago. Maybe its too complicated and long for the avg viewer

sadly because there are a lot of sick players and teams out there playing good cs but ppl seem to not be interested because they are not on Faze, Navi or G2
csgo doesnt feel fresh with the same matchups going on all the time
atleast in valorant they keep changing the meta so theres always a very imbalanced scene

its not 100% certain if a system change would improve the game long term tbf. Also ppl who like valorant or fortnite type of changes wont be happy for long, no matter whats new in cs. Unless there will be constant updates but that would require more csgo devs and could result in csgos long term playerbase leaving

Cologne was like 1.1 mil views last year, that's a record for non major game. Reason? faze v navi bo5 all maps played.
