+1 it is literally a npc reply bcuz cs is old enough that it doesnt matter if you'll take a i3, i5 or i7 as long as they're from the new gens, you'll still have fucking amazing fps the thing is u can invest into better cpu which wont make a difference cuz you'll still have great fps in cs and you'll just waste money or u can invest in better gpu and have basically the same fps in cs while having significantly better fps in 95% of other games + especially cuz 1440p.

That's fair, but he didn't even mention he was going to want to play other games. If that's the case I take my argument back.

Just look at benchmarks. Having a cpu upgrade yields a much larger fps uplift in cs than a gpu upgrade.

If you have the money for the 6800xt it's probably a safer bet.
2023-03-03 17:31
save the difference in money between 6700xt and 6800 and get an i9/ryzen 9 instead, keep the 6700xt

Is the 6700 XT good for 1440p? - YES The 6700 XT is an excellent 1080p or 1440p card. At 1080p it's a good choice for high refresh rate monitors, even in demanding games at the highest settings. Its 12GB of memory comes to the fore when pushing high details at 1440p.

I want to play at high stable fps enough for 1440p with 144 hz refresh rate, so is good?? (is 6800 the right option or just overkill?)

probably yes, the 6800 xt is a good choice for 1440p, can run 144 hz fine. but it depends on the game, 60 hz and 144 hz are both perfectly OK on 1440p. note overkill.

I prefer to save money so will 6700 xt be enough? (I have i5 4440 3.1 ghz & 16 gb RAM, want to upgrade the CPU in the future and maybe ram too to play with 144 hz)

you probably need a new i7 motherboard with ddr4 (ddr4 is getting cheat or ddr5 is newer and expensive). price of the 6800 xt card will come down in the near future and you can save money. i recommend 6800 xt for you if you really want to play on 1440p

ddr5 is not that expensive anymore, but you'd probably have to get a new mobo that supports it, right?

I don't have to upgrade all the time, at least 5 years old motherboard works fine on ddr4

why do u need a "good i7 cpu" tho if u want to play in 1440p and for some reason consider a low budget gpu? ffs people, i5's offer basically the same performance as their i7 counterparts in vast majority of games while being significantly cheaper. And if u consider playing in higher than 1080p gpu is what matters. Bro, take 13600k and for the money that you'll save on i5, get a better GPU holy shit -.-

Yep, running 13600k with 4090 and it ends up providing the same fps as 13900k, +/- 5-8 frames. Either way, both CPUs get bottlenecked, even at 4k, but it is not worth it whatsoever to run i7 or i9 if you are not streaming or coding the shit out of your PC. The most important part is CPU, but when you reach a certain benchmarks, it's better to focus on GPU, because that what makes your games run as long as there's sufficient CPU power and on average any good tier i5 does the job.

Plz read #19, will be better to upgrade right now my CPU (i5 4440) or GPU (gtx 970)???
2023-03-03 17:03

for cs go your CPU definitely. 4440 is worse than most cheap laptop CPUs nowadays. Your GPU honestly is not even that slow for a game like CS.

I currently have an i5 but low end (4440 3.1 ghz or smth like that). Roughly 560 bucks to spend. 6700 cost $370 & 6800 cost $500 so i prefer to spend and save some money for other things if possible...

u talking about upgrading 1 thing at a time or both cuz if both well i doubt $560 will be enough unless u have some crazy low msrp prices there where u live cuz i spent ~$360 for my 13600k and roughly the same for the mobo (ddr5) and thats without counting rams ofc so unless u want ddr4 then i doubt it'll be enough but even then idk if it'll be enough, tho if i was you i'd rather invest in ddr5 if u want more futureproof setup tbh

I run DDR4 with 13600k and 4090, it's a great rig, atm there's 0 difference, but yes, if you go with DDR5, in 2-3 years you can replace CPU for a new gen and use better RAMs. However, with his budget I do not think anything new gen is even an option, not at the moment.

Frankly, 6800 is substantially better than 6700. The thing is what you are trying to do. If your current PC is running 4440, there's literally no point going for i7, because you will not be able to get anything reasonably new and strong, because your motherboard wouldn't fit the new-ish generations - so your only option would be going with i7 of the same generation and that would make 0 difference and be shit. On the other hand, I am not sure, but have a feeling 4440 wouldn't be able to squeeze out all the juice from 6800, so kinda pointless too. I think, in theory, 4440 with 6700 should be able to give you 1440p, but keep in mind that it obviously won't be all Highs etc., but think you should get reasonable FPS within Mid range, which trust me, is often more than enough to enjoy the games. So long story short, 4440 with 6700 is a way to go in my opinion, but keep in mind that it won't be a jaw-dropping rig, it will be good enough till the moment you can afford a better one. 4440, 6700 and 16GB RAM can only go a certain way. Upgrading 4440 for old i7 is pointless, unless you go for newer i7 and it would require replacing half of the PC. Upgrading to 6800 with the 4440 rig would be a bit of a waste. The go to strat here would be getting 6700, start saving up just a tiny bit every month for two years and then going with something like 13600k and 3080 - trust me, in two years it will be very very affordable as new gen will come out. Good luck!

My pleasure, young man. No matter what choice you make - do not look back, overthink and regret. Every choice brings benefits and also downsides, so just be happy for what you can afford and enjoy what you get. Do not chase the new tech - chase the reasons you get the tech for to start with, which is entertainment and joy and pretty much any tech of the past years can deliver that, more or less.

Yes i think would choose to upgrade first to 6700 and then the cpu (and probably the motherboard if isn't letting to upgrade) because watching youtube test with the 6700 gives more than enough fps for 1440p high setttings, 144hz (1% low is like 200 fps), and i plan to buy then a i7 10700k

bro dont take outdated i7's they're not worth it, a tier lower and gen newer cpu's almost always offer better performance in games while being usually cheaper and having lower power consumption (meaning smaller bills and u dont have to spend extra money for better cooling). get the 13600k it'll offer better performance than any 10th-12th gen i7 while being cheaper -.- try to get a 6800 cuz 6700 is more of a 1080p card than 1440p and 1440p is really gpu demanding especially if u want to play some new AAA games once in a while. Remember 1440p will not be as futureproof as 1080p, u should think about investing into a better gpu imo.

yes i was referring to the 13600k or better lol, dunno why i mistaked it by the 10700k xd
2023-03-03 19:06
If u only play cs, amd better for cpu by a lot. For the most part it is unless you want 144+ fps on demanding games.
