I agree with this. someone needs to create some type of streaming website where production companies can upload their movies and while people are watching them their computer is mining crypto and the uploader of the movie gets the crypto. this 10+ streaming website model sucks ass and costs more than cable did. oh you want to watch 1 show on hbo? we're gonna release it slowly over 3 months so you have to pay for 3 months. rinse and repeat for all of them. streaming was awesome when it was only netflix and they released all their shows episodes at once..

you wouldn't have to trust them. it would be browser mining, bozo. you go to website and watch video, it starts mining while you're watching, profits get sent to video providers wallet, you leave website and mining stops. now there would have to be some crafty coding that limits asics and bots incentive to mine but I think this could work and would be a great business model to replace youtube/twitch/streaming services etc if it's done in a decentralized manner. I'm not a 150 IQ autistic coder so I can't do it, but somebody should.

bruv that is so dumb from lots of reasons: first the gpu u find inside most laptops and phones and tvs are not worth doing mining on them, that if there is a gpu at all then, even if you have a good gpu, you can throttle it so it won't consume much current, resulting in less money for the producers then you have people with good pcs and people with shit pcs. the ones with good pcs are obviously gonna produce more money for the company, but they will receive the same content as everyone else. then from a producer pov, how is ur model better? the producers exchange fixed contracts with netflix where they know exactly how much money they will make with a pay-as-you-watch model where they are not certain how much money their product will produce

bruv, gpu mining algorithms aren't the only type of crypto mining algorithms. also you could set hashrate limits, current cryptos don't do this because they want miners competing for more hashrate because it makes the network more secure by having more miners, but this blockchain wouldn't need that motivation because miners wouldn't be mining for their own profits, it would be a side effect of consuming content. and it's not better from a producer pov, it's better from a consumer pov which is why the consumers would use it, but since the crypto streaming websites would be decentralized, the producers content would get uploaded even if they didn't do it themselves, so they would be forced to upload it or miss out, and of course consumers would watch the producer uploaded version instead of the reuploaders so that they could support the producers. a simple verification system lets people know if the uploaders are legit, the verification will also be necessary with deepfakes becoming more realistic.

> the producers content would get uploaded even if they didn't do it themselves so basically you`re suggesting another piracy service, except that this one mines instead of showing ads?

no. i'm basically suggesting a decentralized streaming platform where the users mine crypto while they're watching content and the creators of the content receive the crypto. just like they didn't originally want to create streaming websites like HBO+ or disney+ because they would have rather sold their digital content individually for 20 dollars a season or 10 dollars a movie, they were forced to go into the streaming business because that's what the consumers consumed. if the consumers decided to use the decentralized platform because it was better for them, the content creators would be forced to upload and take the crypto profit or none at all.

Do you use torrents to watch YouTube videos too? No, because that's retarded. Same with movies

thats a silly comparison. but to answer you -- no, because youtube does not fuck with people who use ad blockers. on the other hand, lots of pirate streaming sites do use anti-adblockers i use private trackers cause i can download at whatever quality i want, can watch in whatever program i want and the sites do not show any ads (with or without adblocker)
