Damn man I don't even know how much time I spent trying to find a good combination for this. There is so much going on with so many possibilities. One of the coolest events to build a team I ever participated and after such a horrible group D with 0 points, I do not know what to expect here. We have favorites but anything can happen. I will explain my picks and make observations later.
Hunter - Same reason as the katowice playoffs, hunter is the guy that just goes big when it matters the most. Single elimination is his thing and I would take him over niko any day of the weak in playoff stages.
Jks - Hunter's partner in crime, Jks is still cheap for what he can provide. Also, G2 will play all games if they reach the finals so that means more points for the good performing players
Karrigan - The cheap player to enable the rest of the team, I need faze to beat heroic here. Unlikely but I want to take the risk
Broky - Everytime faze have a deep run, Broky shines. If you believe in faze, he is a must have. I also think that having an AWP in an event like this is a must.
JDC - With the change in style from mouz, JDC seems to be playing better. He is still inconsistent but had a good showing against heroic in groups and the money is the exact amount for him. I would prefer Xertion if I could but I'm ok with picking JDC believing Mouz will reach the semis.
Now, some stuff I considered:
-The prices for double heroic and gold players like sh1ro and Zywoo are really salty since they will have 2 rounds of padding. I'm not entirely sure what is the correct way to pick a team in this event so I tried good players that will play the most matches and are likely to win.
-In the same proportion, bronze players with padding might be really good since they will start with 12 points. Nafany, buster, Apex and such can be nice picks if you want to pick Sh1ro, Zywoo or another superstar. Problem is that the superstar means two bronze players and I did not like this strat very much with lots of silver players available that can be as good as the golds (Jabbi, Hunter, Jks, Xertion, twistzz and such)
-I see Hooxi as the most picked player and he is tempting...but if G2 reach the finals or semi finals, I really doubt Hooxi will have points beyond role and boosters, while all the others can have a good performance. Hooxi and Nitr0 are a no-go for me this event. Players from 00nation, Pain and Movistar also are not worth the gamble (unless you are trying for the skin prize).
-In the end, I ended up with two favorite teams and JDC, which bothers me a little. I wanted to gamble but the only reasonable teams I see due to prices are Mouz and Navi. Navi have a really hard bracket and Mouz will probably face C9 and G2 so I did not want to pick them over a faze with a favorable bracket.
-Not going double heroic might be a mistake. I might come back here to cry, let's see.

If sh1ro played all rounds I would agree...but he will only play the hardest games. I think he is great but I do not expect sh1ro to go 1.40+ in semi finals and finals

For single elim playoffs like this, it is mostly luck tbh. You can put all the time you want into finding the best team but you can still get fucked quite easily by single elimination format. Especially when Outsiders/Heroic/Faze and Navi are all on the same side of the bracket.
solid team c9&G2 is gonna be the factor for most fantasy teams this time, if g2 didnt prepare enough we might see a c9 2-0 again

If you have the guts for 3 bronze, you could drop niko for hunter and pick someone better than Jerry. I really think forze was a fluke and playoffs are a completely different tournament

I'm more into Cloud9 than G2 this fantasy. Group A was a total disaster for me so not so keen on G2 anymore :). Not going for an awper also might be a risk here but couldn't find good combos including either cadian or broky. Good luck!

Yeah I had to stretch my team to fit an awp with G2 players...I like what you did but remember that stavn goes missing in big games...JI like Jabbi or Cadian way more
I am going purely with this hoping that the teams that did badly in the group stages will be good in the playoffs, cause 1st they would earn more points than the ones padding, 2nd there will be less players competing with identical teams, I imagine like 20% of players with g2 and heroic lineups, so already picking those players will be the same as competing for top10% or whatever...

Actually I hate them because I picked them in lots of partners games and they were always shit.

Group D was also a huge letdown for me but i got at least 4 points.
Glad im still 27th on the leaderboard somehow.

Hey buddy. Tough group D. Right now I don't even care that much anymore, so I'm doing it: I'm picking Hooxi.
hunter and jks is 99% the smarter idea but somehow I would like to have monesy and hope that he goes berzerk. Hooxi is a "must" then because of the price and double G2. Maybe Hooxi can have a good rating against Movistars, maybe he is not so super bad against Ence and maybe Vitality goes 322 mode and lets everyone die to Hooxi on purpose so he goes 1.40. That would be cool.
Karrigan and Broky ez, I hope they beat Heroic in the semi finals. Thought about -broky +ropz but I'm not sure. By not going hunter+jks I have the money for b1t, I hope he does some damage in the 2-5 games he will have.
I know, Hooxi is a stupid idea but I don't really care.
I thought about going double Faze and double C9 but then I thought, G2 collects all the points while C9 sits and does nothing and gets some padding points so I thought I go with the guys that have to do some work for their points lol
Betting on Navi is too risky with their opponents, same for Outsiders and also Heroic. Vitality is a no-go because of Dupreeh, I love this man but I would have really liked to see JACKZ continue and see how far they could go with him. Forze was a fluke and the others (fnatic/Furia, smaller teams) will not get past their opponents.
Group D really destroyed my morale for now. I need a new tournament.

I don't like hooxi at all because it does not matter the tier of opposition, he manages to go very red. But fantasy is about fun and I admit, everytime he gets a kill I have fun

personally, i just like to see if my predictions come true, and pretend i know stuff, but i never get the feeling im beaten down into a pulp, if that happens im out.
i reckon most people that like to play the whole Fantasy season, know it takes quite a lot of investment (time), so why not get to know each other a bit and share our thoughts?

Actually a really nice team
I also went for G2 and FAZE duos.
My second option was with Karrigan instead of Rain, Hunter instead of Hooxi and Perfecto instead of B1t. What do you think about that? I would use HS machine on Jks and support on Perfecto.
But Perfecto is performing very badly right now and my current role combination is a bit better.

I had a team with perfecto but gave it up because right now he is a bronze disguised as silver. But Hooxi for me is way worse so I would make the changes
hooxi has never done me good in fantasy even though he is good for the team, his individual performance is just too poor because he has to compete with 4 stars
any game that comes a little close hooxi will destroy his own points gain

EPL 16 - liquid enters group stage as favorites, loses 2 games. One too a heavy underdog (EF) and one in a 50/50 game (furia) they then win over rivals c9 and go to playoffs and beat MOUZ and c9 to make finals. Osee has a shit group stage but goes crazy in playoffs

it surprised me that i actually got top 12% in group D with NaVi and Ence picks, but i will not pick NaVi again here, i just dont see them winning against Virtus.Pro or Heroic.
I like your picks, teams will want to shutdown m0nesy and niko for sure, that leaves space for hunter and jks, like we saw earlier this year.
i didnt like watching FaZe tho, again it feels like if Broky isnt top performing, Faze is doomed. ratz plays too much for his statz, he just doesnt look like he is made to be the real star player that the rest of the team can rely on.
so im probably going Heroic and G2 here.

After so many variations, I think that will be my team for this time.
Expecting a G2 v Navi final (could be wrong and is C9 v Heroic or Heroic v G2 again but nvm)
As u said, huNter is the man for big stages and I think he'll show off and if G2 can reach at least semifinals HooXi can be carried and maybe farm some points from role and boosters (hopefully he has a lifegame and farm too much points).
Then, b1t and elec duo worked too well for me in group D and they saved me from getting 0 points in that fantasy. So, if navi can go through, I think they can have good ratings and maybe outshine s1mple and be the stars for navi this time, who knows.
Finally, I picked broky bc I think faze has a less difficult bracket than C9 (that was my other option with picking hobbit) and also if they beat furia/fnatic, I hope they destroy forze and farm too much points. I think C9 has a little bit more of work trying to beat mouz/liquid and they can be upset, but if they show the same level as group A, probably they will reach easy the final and maybe win this tournament, but this time I'll go for faze :).

i agree with you, this is the hardest fantasy so far. So my picks are simple, i believe that faze and g2 are going to the finals and navi at least to semis.
karrigan has been playing better for his standards, rain did alright, and elec surprised me (even more when he was playing on T-side) in group d and i believe he can farm some points vs 00 and have a good game vs outsiders.
also i picked rain and not broky/ropz, because i wanted to get money for both jks and hunter, and didnt want to pick hooxi again, because at the end of group a, he finished with -30 points.
btw ur team is good, idk if jdc is a good pick

2 g2 players are a must have since they ll most likely go deep into tournament, decided to bet on niko and jks.
nitr0 for 170 seems real cheap and i could see liquid ramping up through the first games
i did wonder should i pick heroic players or faze, and the first one are the favourites for sure, but considering faze have 2 easy matchups before that game i decided to peak 2 players from faze, had money for broky and karrigan

I saw someone do a full team list of all the round of 16 teams so I wanted to go with that too. You gotta have the two GOATS (Hooxi and s1mple). Hunter and put up really good numbers as of recently so I hope they can pull through. Fashr could be replaced with oSee if I think Liquid will do better.
Went for perfecto because I just need him to do not completely terrible. Hopefully he will farm some points vs 00N
No idea what to do for roles between Perfecto/JKS/Karrigan. IGL would probably be better on JKS since g2 is more likely to win the event but karrigan doesnt have any other good roles. HS Machine just feels so meme even though it has the best numbers for jks.

Hello my friend! I agree, this one is incredibly hard, but I ended up on a very similar team:
My initial lineup was M0nesy - Hooxi - Ropz - Karrigan and B1t, which I like except for Hooxi with a chill -40. Hunter/Jks is just a better pick, although I really want to gamble on M0nesy having a crazy T1 tournament haha.

doing a little gamblin', i feel like liquid has the best matchups, c9 will be hard but i couldnt make a good team work with them, and liquid usually beats them
i know there's no g2 but i feel like they might lose to vita, and apex with his padding might be a better pick than hooxi for me... but we'll see i guess ^^ glhf!
