I think he just genuinely prefers having a rifle and utility over armor+rifle or armor+smg+utility when the money is tight

I looked back in to the rounds and if I'm not mistaken he didn't play any full gun rounds without armor for no reason. He did play quite a few half buys or forces pretty interestingly without kevlar
