US for superior resources / alumni network / education / campus / salaries. EU is cheaper, except if it’s in the UK. And even then you’re in debt due to housing. And that doesn’t really matter if you’re doing aerospace engineering and getting a good salary or going in-state. US seems obvious. Aerospace engineer salaries in the EU are like $50k as well.

+1 Few decent universities in Europe, outside of the UK. See where you can get into. Tuition fees + living costs in the UK are probably higher than if you were going to be in state, but lower vs out of state.
2023-03-21 18:11
Damn thats one wrong Point after the other ^^ First ofc EU is way cheaper.. Even if you go to Munich for example (besides maybe UK the best Uni for Engineering) the rent will be between 500-1000€ a month (depends if u get into university funded housing or not) If you want good education EU is like 100% better.. networking is way better in US. Campus: ok if you only want to stay on campus US is 3000% better -> EU University require you to Go to parks or other popular Sites to experience „Uni Life“ Salary before taxes are also the Same … after taxes u ofc get more in the US… but you wont have to sell your House and your whole family if you get ill. Though working for us companys is way nicer then working for german/eu companys… Engineering it’s Kinda equal but espacially all the IT Companys from EU are way worse then US based. All of my Friends studying IT subjects always say it’s best working for an US Company, But it must be from inside of the EU! All the benefits of the US combined with the benefits of the EU

You just wrote an extremely long Euro-cope post while typing in the most obnoxiously ignorant way possible. I said EU is cheaper… literally the second sentence in my comment. No, higher education in the EU is not better. Not by any metric I’ve seen such as research and productivity. “One wrong point after another” … Did you seriously, unironically claim that EU and USA salaries are the same? How are you a real person? USA salaries are significantly higher and the taxes are lower. This is all easily looked up with the power of Google. Stop seething, what a load of cringe and ego-fueled desperation to defend “muh region.” The irony is palpable.

Notice how he presented his points calmy and without unnecessary buzzwords/insults. While you immediately go on a rant, because unironically, he hurt YOUR ego by comparing EU with NA and not subscribing to your deranged NA-centrism. It really makes you look like an even bigger clown than you already are.

bro while the us guy is coping and an idiot but the euro guy doesn't know shit. Actually bringing up healthcare when the guy is talking about being an aero engi makes him look like someone who knows nothing about the US and it's because he doesn't and top tier American unis will always have the best professors.

2023-03-23 21:04
1st of all what #95 said... 2nd. just look up by what metrics these Uni scores are made.. its way easier for Unis in UK or US to score good just cause everythings in english. I dont want to take away that these unis are bad.. and for engineering the MIT is maybe the best Uni to go to. But the TUM in Munich will be very close. Its main focus is engineering while also being located next to the Headquarters of BMW (and arguable Audi). Im working for Microsoft in munich and before taxes I earn the same then my Colleges from the US. I studyed in Germany and the US. So about the education this is 100% the personal experience of me and my friends. And while it was very nice in the US, there is just way less pressure then in germany and everything is explained slower leading to you not being able to get through as much Stuff as you get to learn in germany. So as u put it in your own words: Stop seething, what a load of cringe and ego-fueled desperation to defend “muh region.” The irony is palpable. have a nice day

When I google Ivy League it says there are 8 universities. When yall refer as Ivy League are you referring to those 8? I have seen this name on lot of places so I feel like it's more than those 8 universities. I am not sure.

There are 8 official Ivy League schools in the US. It's somewhat meaningless in terms of the actual education. You can get a strong education and have access to a helpful alumni network at hundreds of schools in the US. Ivy League looks amazing on resume and the alumni are generally more helpful when it comes to working for prestigious companies

US has better quality in that field and more opportunities, but EU has better value. The downside to US is competition. even though there are more jobs in that area, it's still a crowded field full of 'imports' that are given 'special considerations' despite having low performance records.

Now they live and work in England. (Another friend went to study phd in Ulm, Germany. He met his italian future wife there. They now live in Denmark. Ulm is a really nice place to study, right in the center of Europe. The wife thing seems to be mandatory.)

I think their shared academic/intellectual mindset was a stronger factor than nationality etc in both cases. They were really well matched and prepared to give their partner the space to stay connected with their family and culture. Also, once you´re openminded enough to study abroad, then maybe you´re more prepared to meet someone from another country and also to settle in another country. That was the point I was trying to make.

US, go top tier or in state. take out loans if you gotta, you're worth it. a US degree is worth its weight in gold. EU degrees are fine but their universities just aren't quite robust enough for it to be worth paying the foreigner tuition premium.

University only plays a part of your life. The people network in your grad time is way more important than the name of your University, unless your study area is direct bond to some University names that are very influent. If I was you I would to EU, meet new people from very different cultures in the 4 or 5 years there learn 1 or 2 new language you don't speak and enjoy your life without regrets.

+1, I have friends studying at TU Delft majoring in Computing Science and I've generally heard very positive things about the university and the teaching methods, especially the Aerospace Engineering degree. But honestly I don't know any other Aerospace engineering degree in Europe aside from Delft and UK which offer courses in English, so I don't know if it's worth making this step since he mentioned he can get a scholarship in his state (unless you want to travel more in Europe, of course, which is worth it in my opinion).

So this is the thing, since aerospace engineering is basically just really advanced rocket science, the US doesnt allow foreigners to work in aerospace engineering related jobs, I believe this is true for other countries as well for safety issues. Since caltech has the best aerospace engineering plan in the world I think the answer is a no brainer
