What type of car do you own? Or if you don't own a car yet, what type are you hoping to purchase when you can? I have two cars, a 2000 Hyundai Accent which I am really attached to. Also recently I upgraded and got a 2013 Holden VF Commodore SV6 wagon.

I don't care about others. I just like speed and acceleration. Also, 150 a bit slow... I'd say 190-220 is more of a sweet spot... normal size / weight.

don’t get me wrong i also like higher horsepower as it gives you confidence in a lot of situations (currently driving a 256 hp rwd car) but i remember having as much fun cruising in a van or messing around with a hybrid car trying to achieve a ridiculously low consumption, things that have nothing to do with conventional driving experience)
2023-03-22 17:40
1 reply
Yeah, it would suck to get in a life and death situation in a 67 hp shit car doing no more than 140 km/h (after 3 minutes). I agree. There's many aspects of driving that is fun and things that you could achieve. But speed is king... haha.
2023-03-22 18:06
85kw is sweet spot for everyday driving, work, shopping. We have many 1.8-2.2 liter R4 engines with 100-130kw tho so I think that is the most you should get. Any more and it's the smol pp range of power. Driving at speed limit you will never need more and we know you don't use your car on track. Even if you can afford to spend more on fuel it would be more beneficial to donate that money to an animal shelter or something. (I daily drive 55kw and never feel I need more power, calm tf down on public roads)
2023-03-24 19:33
2 replies
Whatever. Anyone who cares about others or pp or anything like that, I don't feel that shit. For me it's just my pure love for speed and acceleration. The more the better. But sweet spot for me was that car for everyday driving. 225kw/306 hp in that size of a car. Not too much. Just average fun. More beneficial to donate? Not really. I never drive reckless when there's other cars around or people. Always matching the speed limit. I only floor on highway when it's clear, or open country roads with no houses, no other cars, open field / view. That's fun as hell, but never put others in danger. Drive safe, man. You need what you need.

Nice Porsche (our neighbor around hat block had one) and my dads ('55) Mazda RX7 looked very similar to it, imo even better (he had 3 in total 1974 - 1989). Most germans may think of Audi S2 (9488 built) when someone says "S2". I ('88) have an Audi 80 quattro competition (2500 built) with an S2 frontspoiler #122 , that's insanely rare. I love it - keep these old legends alive. = )

I understand. For some people owning a car is pointless, or they would just prefer not to and use public transport if they ever have to travel far away. I had a friend who straight up refused to get his license, he hated the thought of driving. Do you ever wish you could just get in a car and drive to a cool place that you might otherwise not have access to by public transport? Sometimes spontaneous drives are very enjoyable.

Well i actually have a license and i can drive, but over the 12 years i've actually used it like 8 times :D But if i went on vacation to let's say US, i'd probably rent a car there... but there is no point in buying one since i can get everywhere i need to with public transport (it's also more convenient and faster most of the time in here...)

I own like six 2022 superbs. 2x with 2.0 tsi 280hp and 4x 2.0 tsi 190hp (as company cars) and every single car have different problems and customer service is trash. For example, my back camera doesnt work and customer service says they wont replace it because they dont have this model of camera. Its fucking brand new car and camera -.- In other car, audio doesnt work or gps and They say "we cant update it because some weird bug appears". In third car, oil temperature sensor is crashing all the time. All cars are brand new and this shit happens all the time Im literally about to change every single company car to Kia this summer because my cousin works there at some high possition and they will have better offer for me as a business partner.

Kia is a good idea, great cars and they're a much bigger brand. I think overall support and repairs will be more streamline than Skoda. Kia and Hyundai have been making very good cars lately, they also look cool too.

The problem is not with brand but with owners of car showrooms or whatever its called. There are 2 famous cases in Poland with different brands but it shows how owners of car showrooms dont give a fk about the brand, just about the money. First case - brand new mercedes S6.3 coupe. Car didnt drive like it should and owner of the showroom didnt want to repair it because it was expensive as fk to repair. So the guy who bought the car made some youtube videos with milions of views in Poland and it took him a year of posting videos to get his money back. He didnt have the car because they were doing countless tests for a year and they didnt wanted to give him his money back. Second case - Kia Sportage. Famous Polish rapper bought new kia sportage as his "family car" and same sh!t, car was fked up, they didnt want to repair it because it was expensive, he didnt have his car because of constant "repair" that never really hapened and they also didnt want to pay his money back. Its all about owners of big car showrooms or whatever its called. I know people in Kia and Mercedes and I know they would take care of me if needed. Obviously Mercedes is too expensive for "company cars" so Ill go with Kia but its fuckin sad that Skoda didnt give a fk about me and I am "business partner" so I cant imagine how they handle normal people. The truth is, "post covid cars" are really bad. Because of production of different parts changed place from China to Czech or whatever, then the war and more factories were closed etc, car manufacturers want everything cheap/fast etc, nobody cares about quality anymore. I know a guy who owns 4 big mercedes show rooms in Poland and he said that car quality from 2019 is much better than 2022. "if you're lucky, u got good car, if you're not then you're fucked" - his words edit - sorry for the long post, it felt smaller when i was writing this but i hope it explained alot from my pov and things i know

Ohh yeah, I completely agree with you about dealerships. They can be very hit or miss, thankfully in Australia we have systems in place where people would be able to get their money back or the dealership would face big fines and legal action. Since you're looking for company cars that really makes it difficult however, but luckily you know someone within Kia who could help you if there were issues to arise. That being said, in places like Poland maybe it's better to just buy second hand cars that are out of warranty and fix them yourself if it's a personal car. I've always fixed cars myself, thankfully I've never had any that needed major repairs. I feel bad for the poor people that don't have the leverage of an audience or fanbase to put pressure on the dealerships when they refuse to refund or repair a car though.

It has its pros and cons. MYP in particular is pretty rough and loud inside, but very cheap to drive. Wicked fast.. I can take pretty much any car from 0-60 including most supercars. I wish I would have got a long range though. In USA, you get a $7500 tax credit for it, the performance one does not qualify because it is over the price cap. So a bit expensive. Not a con if you have money to burn, or prefer speed over savings. I know people who got model 3 back when they were 32k, and they essentially pay for themselves over 10 years. Most tesla owners including myself are happy. The electrical utility company gave me a rebate for a home charger purchase and a 500$ dollar rebate for the install, so that was essentially free.
2023-03-23 01:58
1 reply
Oh that clears up another question I was thinking, the cost of installation for the charger. That's cool that you got a rebate for that. I'm assuming Australia probably has a rebate too. Although it would be cool if you could generate your own power to charge it, so it's effectively free to run. Whether that is solar or other means, such as a water powered generator.

Well a little back story on my Hyundai. I really wanted a really cheap car that was good on fuel and reliable. I purchased the car for $500 in 2019 and up until now it hasn't cost me a single dollar in repairs, except servicing. I get 6l per 100km too. I've been on many adventures in that car and it's like a friend to me now lol.

My father bought 66 Impala SS few years ago, all the way from US and he wanted to rebuild it. We ordered alot of parts from US, my uncle helped us alot with finding parts etc. My dad did like 80% of the work and he had to stop because of lack of time. With my fathers ability to retire he will probably finish the car in 2029 or something like that.

Very cool, good luck with the rebuild! My Grandfather's passion was restoring cars and the Impala was the last car he started rebuilding. He passed unexpectedly before he could finish it, but my Dad and I were able to complete it a little while ago, sort of the last gift from my Grandfather.

1995 Volvo 850. Mint af inside and out, starts in -30c without heating if needed, AC, glass sunroof, 2 owners. Everything's stock except for better door speakers and a bluetooth stereo. For me it's almost the perfect car except for the insane fuel consumption. 2.5 10V no turbo is easily twice as thirsty as the average car today.

Just read a quick test about used ones, apparently they have quite a lot of issues, but if you want to get one you should go for the 1.8 TBi which is allegedly the best mix of reliability and power

is that 220hp at the wheels? Also stock turbo cars have so much restriction shit on them, with an intake and exhaust plus tune you could get close to 300. Not to mention a bigger turbo, cheap ebay turbo would easily give you over 300 with the correct tune.

Ah thats always good, my work has a shitty public transport connection which almost doubles my commute so I have to go by car. How is the public transport in smaller Finnish cities?

In smaller (under 50k) doesnt work that well or they dont have it at all but here where i live (over 200k) people, it work really well. So if u live in smaller town u need to have car because everything is so far away. Ofc in smaller town u can travel to other town pretty decend but if u move inside the town its terrible

I've had 3 cars, but only have the last still: 1: 1999 Honda Civic that I bought for $500 with 270,000 miles 2: 2003 Saturn SL2 - absolute shit box, but it was enough to tide me over until I graduated from college, had about 180,000 miles 3: 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, bought at 92,000 miles, currently 121,000 and still going strong

Peugeot 207cc :) does what it needs to, not too friendly for my wallet in terms of fuel but it has a nice mechanized roof that opens

Currently: Mazda 3 2020 Hatchback SkyActiv-X 2.0l Previously: Honda Civic 2007 Sport 1.8l Hatchback (both with MT) I think these are probably me if I was a car. Not sure what to go next, might go EV next time but haven't found any really interesting options there yet but I don't plan to change in a couple of years eitherway, well around 2025 earliest if there was an interesting option available.

2007 Ford Fusion (EU model) and a 1997 Opel Frontera (4x4). Older models are much more fun to drive and fuel economy has not changed much since fuel injection. Also cheaper and easier to maintain.
