He said rumors "got fans riled up umpteenth time" which is true, said valve was completely radio silent, which was true, then said almost everything RL said, which is just quoting him. If anything he sounds the slightest bit skeptical, if at all, which is reasonable imo

i appreciate your opinions and comments as per usual , but i dont think HLTV is as established and credible as you make it to be here.
also, RL mentioned he was taking souls after his return from malta iirc, so there will be some more talks about this, i rekcon.
again, i like to emphasize that im not a particular fan of RL, Thorin or kassad. imo they all cry like sheep that dont carry much wool. but i do think RL has a good reason to say what he did here.

I mean I dont have enough background knowledge on the RL-striker "drama" but the tweet by RL seems overtuned. But yeah, journalism is about landing coops and RL definitely landed a big one there, he actually does quite often. Other things are just straight up bs though. I see hltv as THE cs website though, if you want to check anything cs related, be it news, games, stats etc, so imo they also have responsibility to not just 1:1 copy everything journalists like RL published... My comment was mostly about the article about RL news on the CS update

I imagine that RL is also just venting his frustration at the fact that people got angry at him for something that turned out to be true. Just because some no names back in the day lied about source 2
RL has said some questionable things but is generally a credibly source (pun not inteded) for this sort of thing. He has unmasked many good and bad things in the past and if you are seriously gonna talk shit about him for that, you deserve criticism when it turns out he was right on literally every point.
And HLTV isn't perfect either. Some of HLTV's articles are just copied stories that reference the original article or just straight up through out speculation and sometimes even they are wrong. Remember the HLTV articles about the Device return like 6 months before it happened?

It's more about history. From what I've read, Richard sees it as Striker never/rarely acknowledges his work or uses his name in a positive light, however in this he uses his name.. why? Because he is trying to essentially 'humiliate' Richard. Of course we can't say for certain if that was Striker's intention but Richard is well within his right in thinking that way by putting two and two together.

My take on it would be that yes, HLTV almost certainly knew but they knew based on people breaking NDAs so they didn't want to risk publishing - and the upside for HLTV in getting the scoop is pretty limited compared to alienating anyone who told them in confidence and getting a bad rep. When RL said it was coming out he was just confirming what they already know and then they could confidently point to RL and say "RL says..." without risking anyone getting into trouble for breaking their NDA.

there is no conflict unless actual owners get involved and tell 1 party to lose, if both parties play best to their capabilities there is nothing wrong with it. i do not see how u dont understand it. EG is a big org the chances of them doing something like his are 0% imo. RL blocks people on twitter that don't even know him based on likes. So he's not spreading the news into the public, when people are literally blocked from viewing his content, meaning he chooses who will see it a.k.a not public.
And yes I take account his twitter, because nobody is actually viewing his substack & 90% of his article audince goes from his twitter sharing.

He broke the iBP scandal an numerous others in multiple esports and has helped so many players fight against shitty orgs e.t.c.
He has been a real journalist (hltv barely makes the definition lets be real) for multiple outlets over the decade being editor in chief at numerous institutions.
