Given how hard it is to get the job, maybe more determined individuals would be more inclined to get it? At least it wouldn't be money-oriented. Idk if it's worth it but i guess it's interesting to think about.

What fake news? That idiot cannot make money, which should be pretty evident, have you ever heard him talk. His money comes from other people who actually can make money and who takes advantage of this idiots name.
There is no link between being competent and being elected. The electoral system encourages politicians to be good at communication and empty phrases, it doesn't promote good policymakers in any way.
Macron is the best example: best at abusing the electoral system but hated by most of people and politically impotent.

won't matter, power brings money
I'm with you here that a lot of politicians are enriching themselves unjustly, but I'm curious what you think of the an argument that if they don't get paid at all, there's even more incentive to accept bribes or favors from lobbyists and other big interests like that.
Besides, it seems that senators and congressmen for instance get paid only like 175k. I get that that's a lot compared to the average American, but it's not like mindblowing 1%er money. By contrast, everyone I know working in tech in NYC gets something similar in base pay alone. Professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers can easily make more than that in total
Now that I think about it, the majority of the issues involving politicians getting rich probably has to do with "donations"/bribes and insider trading, not their base pay

they won't get the money directly. its a "reward" or a "commission" for a service provided like holding a 15 minute speech for 300 thousand dollars. that's how it becomes legal a bribe.

Humans inherently crave social status and power. I assure you presidents (who typically were senators / governors / billionaires with connections before) do not have money in their mind when wanting the job.
Mitt Romney, Mike Bloomberg, Trump, and more were all maxxed out in wealth but wanted to be president to spread their ideas and influence.
