There's a serious lack of good IGLs out there right now. Who can you definitively say is a good IGL other than karrigan, jame, and cadian?
So many teams need one and there's not enough to go around.

I am also not defending Aleksi, he has been heading downwards since mid/late 2021 and there's 0 reason to ignore that, there's just also 0 reason to spit on him and him alone for the failings of other players
and karrigan getting 0.7 rating during important matches
I was thinking he still needs to prove his IGLing can make up for his lack of kills but on second thought I think he deserves the respect for helping his teammates perform their best

I feel like Jame could make any decent team very competetive but his teams can never win tournamnets more than every once in a while
I'd put map pool down to coaching and analysts tbh. What I look for is mid rounds, team cohesion, and stacks.
They're good enough at majors, 2 finals 1 win so far

Chopper is just ok, he's a good individual player but feel like his calling is very inconsistent and strongly relies on if his teammates are playing well or not. He's great at utilizing his teammates well but only if they are ready to go crazy. His base teamplay is just alright. it's the same thing with tabsen, good individual player but if his players aren't feeling the game that day it all falls apart.

I'm not blaming them.
Igl does the most work in terms of demo watching and preparation, has to be switched on at all times and have a plan ready, and gets shat on the most by the community
Who the fuck would want to do all of this when you can just grind fpl, shoot well, and get praise by redditors

and sometimes igls are ranked based on team results when thats sometimes not even the big factor to make a decision if he infact is a good caller.
sometimes the roster is just bad, or inexpirenced, or needs too much micro managing making the igl not focus enough on his own game , or any other shit....

Yes, but in my opinion IGL should still spend less time on it than analyst.
I think tabsen is overlooked a bit. Yes, BIG struggles very often and he is not fragging as good as before but I think he is ok.

Why everyone consider jame to be good igl? Yeah, he definetley mid and biggest + is that he doesn`t downfragging, but it`s like aleksi, why people consider him to be at least tier1 igl?

Tbh outsiders didn`t beat anyone who is actually tier 1, except heroic and as you see now, they can`t reach resulsts, meanwhile they are major winners

In my opinion IGL's get too much blame for a teams overall performance. Every team has analysts and coaches now so teams should come into a match with a good game plan and calls for rotations need to be based on info from lurkers/anchors.
Tldr the whole team is responsible for strategy not just the IGL.

I agree. Strats are on the coach. Mid round calls and reading the other IGL is on the IGL.
I'd say Jerry & Snappi are definitely good, and HooXi, dexter, gla1ve & tabseN are decent. There are some other IGLs that are okay too, but I agree with your premise that there are too many top teams that have a mediocre or even bad IGL: electroNic, apEX, nafany & arT all shouldn't be leading their respective teams, and I believe they are actively holding their teams back by doing so.
