I agree with the first part. you'd be surprised how most pop songs are written by a small group of ghost writers. it's definitely designed to manipulate people into lower spiritual levels. they could just as easily be trying to manipulate people in the opposite direction. but I don't see how this leads to born again christians. a more logical connection would be grooming for athiest degenerate consumerist npcs.

that second statement has been true for half a century. yet it's only recently that we see lyrics devolving to rhyming the same word 5x in a row and music being as degenerate as possible. I made this same point and referenced WAP a few days ago. the only positive defense of this I can think of is that there's only so many ways you can play instruments and make lyrics about positive things without becoming very stale so that's why music has "devolved" and once that gets stale it will become more complex again, but I don't believe that to be the actual reason.
