And a lot of movies are already mentioned
2023-04-06 09:30
I watched 4 movies that are talking about war
private ryan
all 3 parts of "How I Unleashed World War II", a polish comedy about a guy who is 1000% sure he was the one who started the war and just tries to help his country, instead he gets into new trouble every 10 minutes.
2023-04-06 09:40
there's a few different sub genres inside of war movies that I can think of, I'll try to provide a favorite for all of them.
pro war - We Were Soldiers
anti war - Full Metal Jacket
war battle - Black Hawk Down
military movie but no war - Good Morning, Vietnam or Buffalo Soldiers
war movie but that's not really the plot - Three Kings
war comedy - Tropic Thunder
2023-04-06 10:16
for me:
The Pianist (2002)
The Great War (ru documentary series 2010-2012)
Schindler's List (1993)

All quiet on the western front was really good
2023-04-06 12:01
Pianist by far the best.
I randomly watched Fury when it was on TV, and it was okay.
2023-04-06 21:48
Only one Platoon mention so far, sad.
2023-04-06 21:51
I generally dislike war movies (especially American) since they usually serve as a tool of ideological indoctrination, even the "anti-war" ones generally speaking fail to make any substantial point beyond showcasing the brutal nature of war that should be a given.
Full Metal Jacket, Inglorious Basterds and Dr. Strangelove are a few I do like
2023-04-06 22:11
fullmetal jacket
hacksaw ridge
inglorious bastards
the obvious classic, not really anything special tho
