Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
I've seen the gameplay. I dunno the game looks weird to play with this bodycam view they are going for.

if you cant tell this is a videogame from the youtube video, you are blind. Yes, it looks more realistic than most shooters, but it still 10000% clear its a render.

I don't know your background but maybe you are working with this kind of stuff so you see details very fast and can recognize it? But you can't do the classic mistake which people do,that you expect everybody to have same level of knowledge and you judge everybody based on you. Regular person can't even see FIFA is not a real match in tv

tbh the only way I could tell was because of the movement of the first enemy he encountered, other than that no way

The game looks very realistic which is impressive on a technical level, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing for a videogame. Haven't seen anything of it so far that makes me think that it'd be fun to play

I doubt these are "graphics". looks like google maps the game. they probably just took pictures, I doubt anything but a few objects are actually rendered.

it is all modelled, i believe lots of super high res textures from megascans and high poly meshes. honestly it would be obvious they were all CG models and not like irl scenes if the lighting wasn't so accurate to the camera's viewpoint. the lighting and post-processing on the camera is what makes it look super realistic (i think) it's also because the actual camera isn't a first-person eyes perspective, it's literally a camera, so far objects are not as sharp

I doubt it's all modeled. it's google maps the game with a first person gun and shadow added. I'd love to be wrong and for you to actually be able to interact with the world but you think they would have shown that off besides a 5 fps door kick.

well the map is literally a Unity store asset, that much was confirmed on twitter, the rest of the models might be photscanned but i don't see how that really matters, it's 100% not a prerendered world for a rails shooter so there is at least a semblance of interaction within the scene twitter.com/esankiy/status/1649104852704.. 0:22 in this video also gives a better look, without the camera effects you can see how the scene looks and everything in the scene certainly looks like video game props to me also you can't exactly go inside buildings on google maps. if anything it would be photoscanned

looks exactly like me playing google maps. I also noticed none of the bullets had any effect on the world. it seriously looks like they photoscanned a building then created a semi 3d version of of it in unreal engine and uploaded the textures. if i'm wrong, gaming is going to be amazing in the coming decade, but I think we're still a ways away from photorealistic games.

Stop spreading fake info if you don't understand the thing. You can extract google maps data, but it's terrible, it works for an amateur flight simulator, but that's it. The game it's done with unreal engine and when you use unreal, you can use megascans since they bought the company some years ago, which is basically thousands of assets scanned in high resolution, like a f*cking wall that is 70gb (or lower resolution versions) and shaders or textures to use it wherever you want. That speeds up the process to create a map in barely no time because you don't need to create the thing, I think it was still on unreal 4 that some guy did dust 2 long in a couple of hours using that method, blocking the walls and adding assets and textures from the megascans library. youtube.com/watch?v=hi7A6D0TDfQ If there's no interaction with the environment or it doesn't leave bullets or whatever, is basically because the guy didn't do it on this demo or has no clue how to do it or whatever, but not because it's a "photo". Light is really well done and has a small scenario, but that's what the new games would look, Cyberpunk with the overdrive mod that uses path tracing looks amazing and it's already out there to try with a massive map and a lot of assets and characters moving around, you have those unreal 5 demo tests to try too if you computer is powerful enough

I didn't say extracting google maps is what they did. I was saying they're using a similar technique. that dust 2 video looks like a video game, their video looks like google maps. cyberpunks new ray tracing looks nowhere close to photorealism, it still looks like a game. i'll believe this bodycam game has an interactive environment when I can interact with it.

Cyberpunk doesn't aim to photorealism but the technique is the same probably, using path tracing is one step ahead of ray tracing that's more primitive, like when he's going inside and the change of lighting makes that bloom outside and adjust inside. He's not using anything like "google maps", dust 2 video is to show how it's done, although there it's still not unreal 5 with them owning quixel, right now it's even easier to bring assets already made by them into the game. The game looks real because probably all the assets are 3d scans with scanned textures and the scenario is small, so you can force way more everything and do more brute force with the lighting, plus all the animations and that camera with that focal, the chromatic aberration, vignette... helps into make you focus on the middle point.

Can someone please explain to me how this is not a video, like seriously please explain - because i am not 100% sold that this is a real game and not some gimmick marketing/study/whatever at around 0:45 there is a "kill" where the "player" aims for the bad guy, but only the pistol is moving (not the viewing field) so what do you control with your mouse ? the pistol ? not the fov? its for sure not vr, is it ? like it will be really hard to run this game in non vr outside of nasa already

you record a real location like google maps, then map the textures. then use a body cam to force perspective so people don't notice. I doubt there's many actual moveable objects in the game.

"use body cam to force perspective" so you are on "rails" ? and can not use wasd to freely move around ? how does the pistol move, but fov doesnt

I have no idea, I haven't played the game. but there's just no way all of that is computer generated assets. it would take a small developer team a decade just to create the first room.
2023-05-07 20:16
No,you can move freely, the dev showed some behind the scenes from UE5 project and he was moving freely

i have seen this video but it does not answer my question how does the gun move while the fov doesnt ?

I am stoked for the graphics, but it will also need good gameplay. I already have an IRL so I do not need to recreate it inside a game. What's next - a game where I am doing my job?

I could tell its a game right away but im still impressed with what they've achieved. btw the trailer should be watched in 240p, it looks more realistic that way, bodycams are nowhere near as sharp as a 4k YT video.
