I seriously believed in this team. I literally cannot comprehend how they lost. I thought this was NiKo's destiny to win this last CSGO Major. I'm devastated beyond comprehension. Idk if I want to watch playoffs. But it's probably going to be Vitality/Heroic/Liquid winning the Major.
It's so fucking sad for me because I imagined them lifting the trophy so many times...

G2 won the global finals and katovice by insane rounds. So many 2 vs 4, eco, cluches everywhere, 1 vs 3 rushes against stack, jks being absolutely insane as a s u p p o r t player, hunter having his best form.
What happens when jks, hunter and niko return to their average form? This happens. Also the pressure must be insane, and not everybody can manage it.

Cause it was a good game aside of mirage, and cause FaZe at the very least isnt T2, they came back from the shitty bo1s to now qualify to playoffs and play either vit or heroic, so is most probable that if faze wins their quarter finals, they'll reach the finals. Which doent make you tier 2 :)

I was wrong, the game was pretty good. But with a team like this, not being T2 is not much of an accomplishment. The only top 15 team they had to beat to make it through to playoffs was navi. They lost to ITB and barely beat BNE. Not exactly the hardest run.

They struggle against BNE always, since Rio every time they face BNE they struggle, happened in rio, then in RMR but not here. FaZe have been slowly recovering themselves and shit happens, the match against ITB was a bo1 and was the only underdog loss they had so far in the tournament.

You're right, they did not struggle against BNE here. It was a very decisive win.
Not getting the feeling they are recovering rn since they won the grand slam not that long ago and now had to make it to the major through last chance qualifier and almost went 0-3 in the challengers and legends stages, but their performance in the playoffs will tell I guess.

Well, back in 2018 C9 went from 0-2 to winning the major against faze. Winning isnt about the beautiness of your plays or how you demolish 16-0 every team(look at NaVi xD), its about resilience and strategies. And faze excels at both(again look at this and BNE's match).
This doesnt mean faze will win, but they look better than at the beginning of legends stage or the match against ence(dont really care of challenger stage since it was an easy stage for a team like faze).

Idk who you are talking to, I'm not 'hltv'. Arguing that there haven't been an insane amount of upsets lately and top teams dropping off in performance (except vita and heroic) doesn't seem like a great hill to die on...

If they're swapping anyone it would be Hooxi, I wish they did better so the team doesn't have to change but they don't look good anymore. You could probably chalk it up to the pressure but even so, a team with those players should be doing much more than this.

Look back at the deciding stages of the 3rd map though. Even though hooxi was doing terrible, Niko and Monesy literally died 1 by 1 on A back to back to back with no support trades no nothing. It was literally like watching level 5 Faceit players on daily queue, there was no team play. I feel like everyone fits well on this team and are super capable, but watching them individually play like this is so weird.

HooXi is a good IGL, the loss of G2 is not caused by one player in particular. The pressure got to them, that's it
They won events while having HooXi averaging at 0.8 of HLTV rating 2.0
This team is good on the paper, but they do have a mental issue with majors.

Man I really wanted either zywoo or niko to win this major but I was really sad to see G2's mentality and comms break down on the third map. This is a team that is so prone to choking and to see niko wrap up his csgo career without a single major did hurt a little.

The choking has been following niko ever since he became a pro.
Unlucky, their teamplay wasn't polished to perfection and it cost them a few crucial rounds per each map. But they definitely have a lot to build upon, I think it was more psychological tbh if anything because we've seen what they're capable of on Blast Abu Dhabi and Katowice 2023... something just didn't click in this major, unlucky. We can see the same happening to NAVI, FaZe as well. Meanwhile Heroic, Vitality and even Liquid look very strong, major contenders definitely
Im so close of being done with this team. Every round is a heart attack round. They manage to throw away the best advantages and somehow make so many huge mistakes sometimes. Its mindblowingly bad at times.
m0nesy not showing up on ancient and Niko being aggro at vertigo-ramp and dying constantly lost them the series. Damn Im so mad rn

Hey guys big G2 fan here. I’m currently on the plane to Paris and can’t wait to see my boy Niko at the major. I was just looking at the major schedule and couldn’t see any G2 matches listed. Is this a mistake from HLTV? I’ll be honest I didn’t even bother watching the RMR’s and Legend stage cause G2 would obviously qualify for the playoffs.
G2 was with nexa in Major Finals.
Without nexa they never made it to Champions Stage and missed the Major in Rio.+

On vertigo the comeback was solid until Niko and m0nesy continuously went untraded on A ramp. And Niko went full apex mode trying to make shit happen by going aggro at A ramp but dying continuously

NiKo has lost in the same fashion ever since 2017, it's the same choke for all these years and it's still happening, I honestly think NiKo is so scared of choking/losing he forgets to play the game.

The biggest problem for Niko and whole G2 (maybe except jks cuz he's a stone and m0NESY cuz he's a magician) is a tilt factor and insecurity.

G2 are pretty shit just like the rest of the T1 scene anyone can be the best team in the world on any given day no real consistency its a coin flip who's going to be God tier today G2? Faze? Vit? Navi? Liquid? C9? then shit tomorrow.
heroic is the only real consistent team currently which is why they wont win this major ether its going to be someone we don't expect to win.

G2 Killed my pick ems because I thought for sure Niko deserved a major win.
Now I know that Niko was never meant to touch a CSGO Major trophy.
They looked so solid in Katowice and the blast events at the end of last year, and even on the first stage of this major but for some reason they just couldnt muster the wins. The roster has everything they need to win events, I hope they stick with it at least till the end of season.
It was obvious that they wouldn't win major but I thought they'd atleast reach playoffs
