Top 5 CSGO team is losing money... Just imagine the other orgs below them... No wonder Football Clubs and investors are pulling out of e-sports. Free viewership to tournaments, overpaid players, no money.

or they could just force the players to stream FPL a couple hours a day in their contract with the money going to the org and they would bring in a ton of revenue and even more fans and sponsorships. I've always thought it was ridiculous that pros don't stream. a lot of them still play faceit, they're just leaving a lot of money on the table by not streaming. even if they only get 800 viewers, they could make thousands per months in sponsorships and subs with 2-3 hours of streaming a day.

Honestly I dont think you even have to take that money away from players just having that shitty little banner with all the sponsors showing through a fpl stream would recoup that 62k if you get each player on like 10h a month of streaming. tho I am pulling it outta my ass I dont think players would stream 'for free' (as in they dont get direct revenue from stream even if they make 40k/m+).

i'd bet m0nesy and s1mple would easily make more money streaming than playing pro. especially if they just did some stream team shit like Mythic to stay relevant in the comp scene. they'd easily average 10k plus viewers. imagine how much clash would be paying them lol

yeah he'd only get those numbers consistently if he was co-streaming, but he could easily average 10-20k just playing. he's the exception though, most tier 1 pros would be 500-2500 viewers.
2023-05-24 01:05

I feel like pros have the capabilities to farm more viewers if they actually wanted that and worked on that. Ofc they won't get thousands immediately cuz they usually stream like once in half a year if they stream at all. S1mple used to get consistent 30-40k when he was streaming a bit regularly

There is a good chance, but I think you underestimate the value these guys put on competition. I mean 90% of the reason why s1mple was so toxic was just his will to win and not accepting how shit some of his teammates were. Money and streaming is great, but I dont think these are the guys that value money over competition. I mean prime example is Get_Right. The dude put 100% in until the end and only started streaming after there was nothing left to do on the server. Even if csgo esports fell apart I dont think the streaming option will ever disappear (especially for s1mple he has the best streaming clips of all the csgo pros imo).

Im not saying they should be doing for their sake, i'm saying they should be doing it for the orgs sake since the orgs are losing money. it should be in the orgs contract with the players. or like you're saying, if the players don't really care about money, they'll have no problem taking smaller salaries in the future when the orgs run out of money.

oh you meant doing it while they were playing mb mb. the thing is orgs dont put the hours into these players contract and I imagine players refuse to do so (I mean remember when stewie just played a muted stream of mibr practicing to I guess fill stream hours). I think its should be something for mutual benefit to both parties. Sponsors pay premium rates or being in the streams (or just pay for the extra exposure) and the players understand the importance and value of it, and maybe the org has to give like a 10% kick back to the players from the increased sponsor income. The issue with player salary is that orgs started to outbid themselves (Prime examples of what Envy did with the french lineup, what I imagine TSM did with the Danes, etc etc) and it never stopped only the increase if VC money burning. I imagine tho sooner or later the salaries will drop unless the new Saudi ESL starts doing some amazing rev share for no apparent reason. Doesnt help that there is no real tournament org competition outside PGL doing Majors and the shitty blast events/major.

here is the big problem with streaming and csgo: some dude on the other team who is not streaming will beat you the way csgo works, you put in work into practice then you gotta chill and not play csgo ( to avoid burnout ) then practice again. the team who puts in more serious work gets rewarded the most in events and has deep major runs the game has high skill ceiling and the grind needs to be constant, this aint valornt or fortnite

maybe these gamers wouldn't have "burnout" if they weren't so unhealthy with their diets and worked out for atleast 30 minutes a day. imagine complaining about burnout from playing a video game. try using that excuse with your boss at mcdonalds, cowboy. "hey boss, I'm flipping too many burgers and it's giving me burnout, if you gave me one more day off a week, I could flip more burgers per hour on my days on." lmaooo... fricken communists and their excuses.

Some people are built different. That said, the burnout rate is like 5x faster when it's a job. 20k hours or whatever it's only really the hours since he went pro that count towards burnout. Even then it's not that bad for him yet, everything about being a CS:GO pro is still new and fresh and exciting for him, it might last but it might not. We'll see.

burnout is all about motivation and mental toughness. if your goal was just to be a pro, you're gonna lose motivation and interest once you reach that goal. if your goal is to be one of the best pros and win tournaments then you'll keep your motivation a lot longer. and just because you lose motivation, doesn't mean you have to stop playing/grinding/improving, that's just a poor work ethic.

You aren't wrong. Burnout in csgo is a fucking scam. I work 5 days a week 10 hours minimum every day with split days off and guess what? I'm completely fine. The idea that a kid playing a video game gets "burn out" is such a fucking scam that only the current generation of soy filled pussies would complain about.

no my friend, burnout in esports is serious and proven science think about it as not just gaming but more as an activity involving lots of attention and focus even if you try hard for 10 hours a day for n days in a row then on day n+1 you will feel the burnout, its just biology does not matter if the activity is gaming / anything else
2023-05-24 21:30
maybe not a serious "burnout" but one can imagine kid just can get bored/unmotivated after doing somewhat repetitive exercises for thousands of hours. Maybe your job offers a better variety of tasks or you just distract yourself mentally while doing it.
2023-05-24 21:36
Of course diet and exercise can help prevent burnout, but to compare it to something like a job at McDonalds isn't really fair. CSGO is a highly competitive sport that requires countless hours of work and dedication to stay relevant. And if you wanna be the best of the best, your life has to revolve around CS. Even a slight decrease in performance will have severe consequences for you and your team. Now I'm not saying that players shouldn't do any work outside of playing CS to help their org. But It's also not so simple as to just "stream a couple hours a day"

your life doesn't have to revolve around CS as in playing 12 hours a day 365 days a year. 50 hour work weeks should be more than enough. if it's not enough time, then the players are not using the time efficiently as they could/should be. in a 50 hour work week, there's plenty of time for a pro to stream a 30 minute warmup/dm and a couple faceit pugs before or after scrims/teamwork
2023-05-24 01:18
You forget the stress. Playing a competitive "sport" can drain you. The pressure of performance can burn you.
2023-05-24 05:25
i work maintenance at a sawmill and sometimes that 8 hour day is grueling as fuck physically. it's never mentally bad. flipping a burger can never be physically or mentally bad. on the other hand csgo exerts a crazy kind of mental pressure, because you've got to have 100% focus doing small stuff like precision movements. you fail and you lose immediately. no second chances usually. if you do that for a minimum of 40 hours a week it's gonna get tough really quickly.

Its real even as non pro (id call myself semi pro) when i played csgo too much i would start playing shit and lose interest and skill even tho normally i drop 20-40 bombs a game then id be dropping 5 in whole match at times because in csgo is same like in life u need a healthy balanced diet u get tired from looking into screen for long everyday u need. Workout. Eat good. Stretch. Socialise then u perform on server way better and considtently its true whoever says all u have to do is ply game all day is wrong as ur brain eyes and etc are still busy especially for those who are pssionate and emotional playing and watching cs like me. Ofc its easier phisically then football but mentally it can drain you out dont forget its different playing at highest level then just regular casual mm from time to time.

I mean I dont think FaZe are some amazing business men I imagine most other NA orgs have the same type of Revenue-Cost like FaZe. I think the most important factor is marketability and sponsors compared to success (unless you become EG lol but you gotta do that on purpose more than anything). Like G2 taking that scummy csgoroll money probably means they may even be profitable right now in the csgo division.

Clearly spending of almost $600k a month is not sustainable. There has to be a balance. Looks at some T2 orgs - they self-sustain themselves with price money, stickers etc. BNE, Monte etc. Heck even C9 farming big online events. I understand that most price money goes to players but maybe we should get back to players orgs.

the thing is even if your team is not tier 1 amazing you need to build a program that is tier 1 especially if you want to maintain the reputation among other similar programs in the same industry in this case the industry would be female valorant space especially if you are faze clan / liquid / c9 type orgs. you have to pay top dollar to attract mid-top talent and build some reputation you cannot be frugal and pick and choose like a shopping cart and min max your investment

They reduce the salary overall, but yeah, their salaries are too much from a fan base/sponsor perspective. Also, I find funny when ppl say navi should pay for yekindar. Yeah since a team like itb or gl did better and cost not much for their players.

What do you mean by preferring to take a greater approach to content creation?
2023-05-24 15:59
If Faze is losing over $60k a month as a top 5 team. think about the other low tier 1, tier 2 orgs....
2023-05-24 06:17
2 replies
Their salaries are also less and less support staff I guess. I don't think tier 2 orgs can lose 62k a month lol
2023-05-24 07:51
faze is insanly overpaid xd. rain and karrigan earn more than for example zywoo or niko. Imagine they pay for the players normal salary(50-60k), easy 200k$ profit.
2023-05-24 18:33
thats actually insane
2023-05-24 06:28
actually not that bad when you consider the other games, if the salaries weren't so absurd they could easily profit
2023-05-24 06:32
They dont really have 360 noscope pro content creators now
2023-05-24 06:37
if the players loved the game and were driven by passion they will gladly take a paycut

+1 Just take $5K and give up the rest
2023-05-24 09:52
I often wondered how orgs can afford the high salaries, constant travels for the team, hotels etc. If FazE doesn't, then a lot of orgs probably can't as well. Cut the salaries should be the first step, a CSGO player making 10s of thound of dollars/month is ridicoulus.

+1 instead morons like richard lewis want ppv. fuck that, rain doesnt need 60k a month and m0nesy didnt need to be bought fpr effin 600k, and won basically nothing. orgs dont know how to handle money, its ridiculous to call esports enjoyers parasites and shitty.

ppv is a stable solution that has worked in traditional sports even UFC which has mature blood and themes like CSGO i dont think there is anything wrong with ppv i do agree the salaries are off the fucking roof compared to what money these players bring in to the org on average

Or just dont pay at all and watch for free as Im not paying 100 quid for a ppv when half the fights are dog anyway

Didnt he bring up ppv as a revenue stream for TOs, since they dont make any money either? I havent heard him advocate about paying bums 60k, actually he does quite the opposite.

2023-05-24 09:52
To be fair 62k/ Month isn't really that bad. And the Number probably doesn't include the brand revenue FaZe CS brings in.

What? Many companies do. They're supposed to be profitable at some point though, but esport orgs never are. I think the only teams in top 15 who operates well is ence, and maybe mouz.

conclusion: theyre ALL overpaid. if faze is the only org suffering from this, its their lesson to learn. if all orgs are suffering from this: markets will correct themselves.

no its around 40-50k player side other things staff and bootcamp cost a lot
2023-05-24 21:16

they dont usually on the bootcamp and the renting free really tiny compared to that amount of the costs. if im not wrong there are one psychologyst, one headcoach( and some gameplay analysts) and one manager behind to support the players. i dont think they earn that much

Who would have guessed that players getting paid 20k+ a month isn't profitable
2023-05-24 18:35
it's not my money and im not ceo so not my problem, but I don't think paying 20k to 5 persons every month even when they are not winning is good idea.
