There are specific shows that catches wrong doing by politicians, stealing, not paying taxes etc etc and everyone gets away with it.. you have to have friends friends to survive there which is total BS..
Took it off my chest since I'm leaving this country and told myself to never comeback.. Impossible to enjoy life when prices are on a standard of the West and salaries of the East.. absolute worst combination..

but if you compare your country to what it was 20 years ago, huge improvements have been made. in 30 years u went from poor countries with socialist economy to prosperous countries, for instance estonia is already above portugal in gdp per capita (portugal joined the eu in 1986, estonia in 2004) estonia was a soviet republic and portugal was already in the eu!

Moved to the UK 12 years ago. No regrets, not a single time in my life I said 'Ah, I wish I stayed'. Ironically, I am the Russian speaking Lithuanian lol. One of the reasons I moved - I am a cosmopolitan, not by choice. I am from a Russian speaking family, but been born in Lithuania and it sucks balls, because in Lithuania everyone called me a Russian, but if I'd go to Russia (which I did a couple times), people there called me Lithuanian. So I literally have 0 national identity and neither Lithuania nor Russia felt like home, especially culturally. I have yellow teeth, like pubs, cook shitty eggs and bacon for breakfast and call it a cuisine etc., so I fit right in. But long story short, don't hesitate to move anywhere if wherever you are feels odd, cause in the end of the day you can always return. I did and never will. I like Lithuania and the older I get the more I appreciate it, but no f way I am going to return and live there, especially now with all the challenges you've mentioned.

LOL u can always choose one side.It's not so bad i guess coz if not there then somewhere else.Meanwhile me living few years in Ukraine then leaving to Poland(and living there for half of my life)-i could be Pole but never wanted to and never felt connection with country.Moved to Germany where is my second country(it started from German cartoons).Now living happily for years and remembering where i was born and were visting it.

It's not choosing sides, it's not like you are choosing a team to support etc. You either fit or you do not. Neither Lithuanian nor Russian cultures are close to me, I do not connect with either, it feels repulsive and alien. It's hard to understand when you are born somewhere you belong to and it's ok, not trying to downplay, but when you are born somewhere you are a stranger, it's different. You cannot choose a side and just plant yourself into a culture and take it as your own. British culture is more close to me, the way I feel, act, celebrate etc., but it still doesn't make me British, yet I feel more connection with it than Lithuania or Russia, hence why this is my home. In Lithuania or Russia I get a feeling of being a black sheep 24/7 and even though I have nothing against either culture, it's just not me, at all.

Every time I have gone to Tallinn I literally hear more people speaking Russian than Estonian I can't even imagine how depressing that is.
People say that Finns are emotionless and cold but wait til you go to Estonia. No matter where you are, a restaurant or just a grocery store, the customer service is terrible. They are so emotionless and it's like they are literal robots, and this is coming from a Finn. They can't even hold eye contact or even do a fake smile. Actual next level. And I wish I was making it up but this has been my experience every single time.
But the reality is there are still much much worse countries than the Baltics, they ain't even that bad.

Yeah that's literally what i thought , favela is a really bad reality i can't imagine being born in that situation , you live alongside with drug dealers , gun shootings everyday + poverty.And if you see the numbers almost 30% of the brazilian population lives below the poverty line , it's very scary realize that is the reality of so much people.

I've been to Kiev once, I was doing a hockey tournament in Brovari in 2012, it was about Victory Day on May the 9th, I believe it was the last time u celebrated this date, as now instead of Victory day u have some bs Europe day or some other made up shit like that
the only place I was able to visit in Kiev was Kiev Pechrosk Monastery, I really liked it.

Nepotism is widely spread in former soviet republics & people don't even bother hiding it. In my country every politician has their family & friends on a public payroll, most of them doing like 2-5x more than avg. salary. This would not be such a big problem if they would do their jobs, but they're not even trying, putting people in charge with no UNI degree & low iq. Nowadays it became so spread people don't feel offended anymore, 0 reactions from public opinion. Noone cares, literally
