If it will be your first one then I have a tip for you, never believe ppl who will say sertain spots on the body hurt more than like simple small sleve tattoo. Everyone has diff pain tolerance. And 2nd tip is, rethink if you rly want to make one, coz this kind of pain is adictive and it might not end on just one tattoo haha

I have both my arms, one thigh and some on my neck and also one on the spot behind my ear. First one I took was something to remember my family from but its quite a long time ago. I'd say if you have a good tattoo artist it doesn't really feel bad at all, mostly just like something sharp is really lightly pushing and dragging on your skin. The spot behind the ear was one of the least "painful" ones, didn't really feel a thing. The sound is just annoying cuz I promise its going to vibrate your eardrum quite a bit so you wont hear pretty much anything. 6+ hour tattoo sessions really start to hurt a bit just cuz the skin is so irritated. Less than that and you are gucci. Some people tend to feel a bit dizzy (or even faint, seen that too) on their first tattoos just cuz they are so nervous going in. Remember to sleep well, eat a good meal and have a drink. Oh and also remember to keep your skin soft and in a good condition, eg applying lotion after showering. Makes the tattooing so much easier and the ink sticks way better.

I didn't get my first until I am 25. Not because I couldn't, I just thought I'd get bored of everything eventually. In the next two years I got some more. I don't know the exact number but I got around 40 now. I still don't have anything around my neck, face or hands and I don't plan to get any time soon. I don't recommend getting tattoos on those areas unless you are certain about your future. You never know what line up work you will get into. If you are still adamant about getting that neck piece, don't get something that is offensive. Also choose your artist wisely, it will be a part of your face and you don't want some wonky ass shit. You can easily get depressed if it turns out shit.

Ive got a dragon on my forearm. Not too bad, except for the inside of the elbow. God, it felt like my bicep was being sliced open. Conversing with the artist really helps pass time. A friend told me that the tattoo behind her ear didnt hurt, but it was quick and very loud. But Id recommend starting with something much more moderate than something on your head. The bigger/more visible a tattoo is, the more time you should spend thinking about it. Do not start with your head or hands.

Don't get a tattoo there if its your first. Most artists wouldn't even do it.

I have a lot of tattoos and I recommend you to start with a place that doesn't hurt so much. Everyone I know that like tattoos recommend forearm for your first tattoo.
