Yea, good luck getting an American to say that their camping trip to Canada is a vacation abroad. You'd also never hear college/university students in general refer to study in a neighboring country as "abroad" Abroad is almost always used interchangeably with crossing an ocean in general conversations.

Fairly sure he meant somewhere he actually have to apply for visas for, since Malta doesn't require that, if you are EU citizen, just require valid passport

Well, it was online period from 2020 till late 2021 when he took a hiatus. In late 2021 he only played the major in Stockholm which was his home city at the time, and then that Blast Fall Finals in Copenhagen (his home country). After that Astralis didn't really qualify for big tourneys played abroad until Dallas so yeah, 2-3 years is quite accurate.
