Nah, USA is just better overall: Average eu salary is 33k, while the average american salary is 60k, also better household disposable income. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disposable_househo.. And 3x more europeans coming to the US than the other way around. So it says it all. And even considering our culture, europeans are fan of what we make: Cinema, music, food, engineering, pretty much everything.

Also there are a lot of things where Americans have to individually spent cash on that we paid with taxes already so it's not that easy to compare it without context

Western Europe is better if you are poor or low class. Middle Class and Upper Middle Class live much better in the US
2023-06-02 01:22
"Cinema, music, food, engineering, pretty much everything." Only idiots like Hollywood movies and you can watch them on this side of the Atlantic the same as on the other side. For Music, yes the US has great music, but it is not that much better than anywhere else on the planet. American food is ultra mega giga ass. I would love to say that "hurr durr, German and Japanese engieneering, hurr durr", but unfortunately I am a sane person. Due to the way research and top education is funded in the US, American engineering is far superior. I would also like to add that even though the average person probably gets worse education in the US than in Europe, "good" education in the US is much better.

Food is not ass. You can try every cuisine in the world in the US due to how many different immigrants moved here. In Europe not so much. Also even typical American food like BBQ Ribs is really good.

Yes Im serious. Which European country has more immigrants than the US? You go to a place like Italy, only options are Italian, French and possibly some kebab stand from a Syrian or Turk. Sweden was either Swedish meatballs, kebab or pizza run by immigrants or Japanese. Maybe a Thai restauraunt here and there. Just within 10 miles of my house I can get Japanese Sushi and Udon, Turkish Kebab, Chinese Cantonese dim sum, Korean BBQ, like 10 Mexican taco trucks, Italian Bistro, Greek Grill, Vietnamese Pho and Danish Bakery.

Mate, immigrant food is not American food. Kebab is not Hungarian cuisine, just as tacos or whatever aren't American. BBQ ribs and steak are good, yes, but they are nowhere near European cuisine.

Well theres a concept called Americanized food. Where immigrant food changes to suit the tastes of the general populace in US. Italian, Spanish, French and Greek food is definitely better than American home cuisine

Isn't it pretty normal to have personal bankruptcy from medical bills in the us? So congratulations with your disposable income. But you will use it on stuff that's free here. Like education for your kids insurance and healthcare.

None of those are actually free. Single payer doesn't mean you aren't paying for it. It just means that everyone pays an amount for the service that is proportional to their income.

But youre ignoring the fact that privatised hospitals also work on a profit incentive, meaning even though public healthcare still costs money its cheaper cause none of the money goes into the owners pockets. additionally the united states has the worlds highest prices, again due to no regulation of medicine costs weforum.org/agenda/2023/02/charted-count..

I am aware of this, yes. I wanted to point out that "free" healthcare is not actually free of charge. Thanks for pointing out that it is a much more cost-efficient system from the view of the patient.

ive also heard that often if u ask for a receipt in the us the cost goes down drastically so a lot of these hospitals probably scam the shit out of their patients, but that might just be hearsay

Probably happens, but isn't that prevalent. I assume most health insurance companies ask for a receipt and pay attention so they are not fucked over.

Salaries are bigger in the US as the tax is way lower than most of western europe, but you also get so much for the taxes you pay, at least in Scandinavia. We have so much social services and help for the poor, and a really good/supportive educational system here in Denmark, where it's almost possible to only of the SU (money you get from the state during your education) while the education is also free It is also not fair to say whole europe, as the differences in europe are so fucking big, even in Scandinavia, and I can imagine that it's kinda the same in US. Without having sources for why europeans move more than the people from US. I can imagine that if you have the money to move to europe, you would not gain that much, as you probably has a good health insurance and money to get proper education in the US, and not scared to lose these benefits and your job. So your view on going to europe will be paying more in taxes and losing some rights, as the right to have a gun, and probably have to learn a new language as most from the US only can speak English, and it's only UK who speaks English. So doesn't make sense to move then, but if you are poor or just the worker/middle class, you would benefit going to Scandinavia as you would have so much support and your kids are taking care of. We can still enjoy your movies/cinema, music and most of your food. This ofc change from country to country as state for state, but it's not that we only see european movies. So this point makes no sense
2023-06-02 12:00
I would not in a million years want to live in NA. The USA is not better overall: Insane issues with poverty and homelessness, conflict, racism, mental health, debts, politics, gun laws etc. Insane weather events. Insurance and coverages cost insane amounts of money (sure you may have greater salaries, but your products, services, insurance, petrol, etc. cost way more than what they cost in Europe so this just eats away at your disposable income). Cinema was better in the USA, but now it has become awful; i.e. writers strike, and the fact that everybody agrees that Hollywood is dying as it produces the same films and TV shows again and again and again. Music: America maybe is better at pop music. But the UK for example, stands clear when it comes to rock, rap, drill etc. Food: PAHAHAH!? FOOD BETTER IN AMERICA!? Most of the cuisine in America is European dishes, and think about how many ingredients which are used in American products are banned in Europe. Engineering: Hilarious that you think Engineering is better in America. What about Japan when it comes to electrical engineering? Germany and Italy for their beautiful cars and bikes? The UK with Brunel and civil engineering, or the industrial revolution that started this all off?

I mean, as someone who would never move to USA (so much I prefer over here, even in poor portugal), nowaydays, USA engineering > Europe all day long. It's easier for them cause everyone in the country speaks the same language and big tech companies can recruit from a vast range of people (cause english is so well spread, even in countries that do not speak it). Plus good economy atracts a lot of talent from other countries. If we strip all tha east asians/indians/europeans from big tech companies then maybe it would be closer, but right now their companies are just better overall

I mean eh, I had plenty of trouble in school so my education is quite appalling really, I rely on my common sense mostly. There's other things about America that I have bigger issues with, but there are plenty of positives too, and it's not like the UK is a perfect place to grow up, especially the area I personally grew up.

Not an issue with the school it was an issue with me, I have a sneaking feeling that I have undiagnosed ADHD and that is what caused me to have such a tough time in school, either way, I walked away with very poor grades and no further education, when I was supposed to be quite gifted, so had I grown up somewhere with a poor education system, I'm honestly not sure much would have changed.

for some time, yes (in the US) I quote Baz Luhrmann: "Live in New York City once but leave before it makes you hard Live in northern California once but leave before it makes you soft" but I definitely want to settle in Europe, either germany or Switzerland. much better social system, safer (no guns lol) and way more to offer in terms of culture etc., also more diverse and geographically less spread out: you can go from an Italian beach to skiing in the alps within 2 hours I could go on and on but I guess my point is made...

You're an idiot. You can't make a judgement like that based on who lives here. Look at a map, see any nations remotely close to use where people are other than white - no, you do not. Did we import people from Africa as slaves, no we did not. Have we been in decade long wars with countries in Asia, where we took in a lot of allies from the region, no we did not. People here isn't racist, in fact people are generally pretty open minded in all sort of ways. And well educated, so we don't jump to conclusion like you just demonstrated. Apparently you're ignorant AF

The Danish slave trade occurred separately in two different periods: the trade in European slaves during the Viking Age, from the 8th to 10th century; and the Danish role in selling African slaves during the Atlantic slave trade, which commenced in 1733 and ended in 1807 when the abolition of slaves was announced. - the dealer is worse than the buyer, we inherited slavery from you white supremacists, "people here isnt racist" must be nice looking at other races through a screen, kinda like arm chair anthropologie like your racist ancestors did c ya

What screen? Don't project your own sick thoughts on to others. It seems you just don't get that there is countries where people are white because the original population is like that, the countries of Europe isn't new countries and some like ours have been a nation for a long time - the eight century to be more specific. I never claimed that slaves wasn't a thing, but the scale was relatively small and no slaves from Africa was imported to Denmark, they instead went to a Danish colony in the Caribbean - a colony which we btw. sold to the US and they are now known as the US Virgin Islands. Your whole idea that the majority of Danes are white means we are racist is just stupid. And as a US citizen you really should focus on what goes on in the US, it is not that long ago segregation was a thing and society in the US is still very divided - like take a look at who sits in Congress or the Senate, who fills the many prisons you guys have or for that matter who it is that is poor in the US.

95% percent white population , you have no thoughts other than supremacy and again, you have no room to talk about American culture when you guys are behind us 100 years demographically

Why would we have that? It simply isn't a topic for most people here, why would it be - what matters is who you are and not how you look. You keep insisting there is supposed to be a lot of racism here, but that is just plain wrong. Same thing with religion, people are free to choose their faith or to not have a faith for that matter and that is also the case with sexuality, gender equality and so on.

He saw this statistic somewhere on the internet of majority white people in Denmark. The best explanation (or only) he could come up for it being that way is because people are racist. Yes, so racist, people are literally on the border holding people of color back xD They are the ones who had a president who wanted to put a wall to stop another race from coming in and they talk

You really are insisting one fulfilling the stereotype of an ignorant American. Amazing. Do explain how demographics are supposed to show racism - enlighten us. And while doing so, do explain how Alabama isn't a racist state: pbs.org/newshour/politics/alabama-govern.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:History_o.. (Note, the wiki on racism in Alabama has 7 subcategories and there 26 seperate articles - that is how racist Alabama's history is)

I dont gamble, drink, clubs, none of that weak vice. Having it right infront of me and rejecting it on my own will makes my Faith stronger. Also encountering the entire world as they visit the Strip is really the +1 I meant. And, Las Vegas has A LOT to do outside the Strip lmfao, lake mead, mt charleston, red rock, valley of fire, willow beach to name a few fun fact, it didnt hit 70 degrees in Vegas for 6 months this year, yes summers blow but only 3 months

-no need to move to US if you are from north or west europe. -no need to move to europe at all.
2023-06-01 20:54
As someone who grew up in Europe and then moved to the US, I can say that, if you put your time to like America you can feel much more personal freedom in the USA. I won't speak for all European countries, but for all these education still runs on the old Prussian system, this system emphasizes solely on memory, they don't teach children to think independently, which the American education system is based upon. That's why Europeans usually are more knowledgeable and Americans are smarter. The biggest difference is the food quality which is quite low in the USA.

As a brazilian living in USA: Yes. I have a job offer for an European country and it's less than I receive here, but I really thinking about it. No, you're 100% right. The US government doesn't care about its people. No healthcare, higher education, housing, nothing. EU has some faults of course, but in terms of a regular citizen, EU citizens are pretty likely to have a better experience

Temporarily living in Europe would be a nice experience. I do really like the walkability of EU Cities and accessibility of Europe with the Eurail pass. Stockholm was very nice when I visited, Paris was ok but too big and dirtier than I expected. Milan, Warsaw and Prague were very nice
